I am impressed with how cold this portable ac actually gets, especially for being so small. I have a very old home, with an unconventional window in one of the rooms, which makes cooling it during summer a hassle. The one window is only a foot tall and stretches across the top of the wall, so I’ve been struggling with cooling issues for over ten years now. This is the first week that I’ve ever uttered the words “I’m cold” in this bedroom, and it’s all thanks to this portable AC unit. The machine itself is fairly small only about two feet tall and less than a foot wide. It has wheels in the bottom to make moving it from room to room possible and easy. However the wheels didn’t stop me from placing it safely and sturdily on top of a small stand. The AC comes with a remote control for convenience, and it works well. There’s a vent tube that needs to go out the window and they e provided that along with a window vent kit. I didn’t use the provided window kit due to the odd shape of my window., it was more convenient for me to leave it off. The vent tube removes the hot air from the back of the machine. Setup was surprisingly simple. First thing to note is once you receive the unit you need to wait 24 hours to allow the fluids inside to settle, if you skip this part you are risking damaging the unit or causing it to not cool as well. I waited and immediately after powering the unit on I felt the cold air blowing in. I cannot believe how fast it cools a room down, and maintains the cold temp. It’s very quiet, my box fan probably makes more noise. And there’s even a sleep mode amongst other settings, that shuts it off for you. This has been the most useful product I’ve brought into this home in a long time! I honestly wish I had known how well this worked a long time ago, I wouldn’t have suffered in heat for as long as I have. I live in California and the summers here are brutal. I’ve used swank coolers in the past and hated feeling the moisture in the air. This unit does not produce moisture like that. This machine actually has setting for dehumidification if you need it, which I don’t anticipate. I highly recommend this for cooling a smaller home, bedroom, or office. It saves you mine on your electricity bills by not having to run the central cooler, this uses far less energy. It’s small, easy to move and setup, and works perfectly!

I picked this up for my husband’s bedroom because during extremely hot Florida summers, our central AC can sometimes struggle to keep certain rooms cool enough. Since heat can trigger seizures for him, having a reliable backup cooling option was really important to us. This ended up being the perfect size for a bedroom or smaller living area. We tested it without running the central AC, and it did a very good job cooling the room down and keeping it comfortable. It gives us a lot of peace of mind as a backup option if the main AC ever fails or during especially brutal summer heat waves. Setup was straightforward and everything needed for installation was included. The controls are simple to use, and the remote makes it convenient to adjust settings from across the room. I also like that this functions as more than just an air conditioner. The fan and dehumidifier modes are especially useful in Florida humidity. Despite being portable, it cools surprisingly well without being excessively loud. It is not silent, but the sound level is low enough that it blends into the background and works almost like soft white noise while sleeping. The wheels and side handles also make it easy to move between rooms if needed. This is a great portable AC option for bedrooms, apartments, offices, or as an emergency backup cooling unit during the summer.

I got this portable A/C because, much to the rest of my family’s dismay, I like sleeping in cold temperatures. I was hoping this would let me create my own little icebox without forcing everyone else to live in arctic conditions, and it honestly exceeded my expectations. Additionally, during the day, I roll it into the living room so we can cool the area we're actually using instead of cranking the whole house A/C. That alone has made it feel like a good value for us. Setup was easier than I expected, and moving it around is simple. I also love having the remote because I can adjust the settings without getting out of bed. I use the timer feature nightly, which has become one of those conveniences I didn’t realize I’d appreciate so much until I had it. For performance, it cools well for the spaces we use it in and has been reliable so far. As for noise level, I think it’s very reasonable for a portable A/C. You know it's there, but I wouldn’t call it disruptive at all. In fact, I actually find the sound kind of soothing at bedtime, almost like steady background white noise. If you're looking for something easy to use that can cool a room without needing to blast your whole house system, this has been a great fit for us.

Our plan is to put this in an unfinished attic that has little airflow above the bedrooms. It is very hot and, thus, causes the bedrooms to stay warm even though the AC in each window works very hard to keep them cool. My sister-in-law thought she would put this up in that attic space and it would cool it down and as the trickle down theory goes, cool down the lower floors and not make the window ACs have to work so hard. I did try the Garvee AC in my home and I am a diehard Garvee fan. Garvee makes really top notch products and we have quite a few of them. Almost every single one is well made, sturdy, performs exceptionally well, and looks great. I expected nothing less from this portable AC and it delivers. Obviously with it going to be housed in my sister-in-law's attic the noise factor won't come in to play but it isn't a loud machine. It does have a small hose to go out a window and then a plate that fits in the space left open beside the hose to close off the window opening so no air or bugs or critters can access the home. While the unit is quite heavy to lift, it isn't a challenge to roll around from place to place within the home. It is also rather slender and does not take up a lot of space. The remote allows one to handle all the features from a couch or bed without the need of having the unit close at hand. There is a timer, sleep, cool, dry, fan, speed, etc. settings. We have yet to experience any summer weather yet but I have no doubt it will perform well when my SIL asks it to. I do like the portable AC type units over the window units only in that I don't have my window blocked. However, I did see that there are new window units that hug the bottom sill looking almost flat so the view is barely blocked. In that case I'd choose a low profile window unit to not have to worry about water issues. Fortunately my home is central AC and I no longer have these concerns. It is just my father- and sister-in-law's homes that are not central AC that I try to figure out what the best type of units are. On 04/26/26 this unit was priced at $239.99. Since then it has decreased to $219.99 and currently has a coupon running that brings it down to a very nice price of $179.99. That is well below comparable portable AC units on Amazon.

I ended up getting this portable AC for one of the bedrooms that just never cools evenly, and for what it is, it does a solid job. It’s the 8000 BTU Garvee unit, so it’s meant for smaller spaces, and I’d say that’s accurate. In our case, it handles a standard bedroom pretty well, especially at night when the door is closed. It also has the dehumidifier function, which I didn’t think I’d care about, but it actually helps that slightly damp, sticky feeling we get here in the summer. Setup was easier than I expected. It comes with the window vent kit and that flexible exhaust hose, and we had it up and running in under an hour without much frustration. The unit itself is on wheels, so I can shift it around if needed, and the remote is simple enough that my older kids can adjust it without messing anything up. The airflow is strong for the size, and it cools down the room fairly quickly once it gets going. That said, it’s not quiet. It’s more of a steady white noise, which doesn’t bother me, but if you’re sensitive to sound it’s something to consider. It also takes up a bit of floor space, so you have to plan where it’s going to live. For around $240, I think it’s a good option if you need targeted cooling without installing a window unit or central upgrade. Just keep your expectations realistic, it’s great for a bedroom or office, not for trying to cool a whole house.

This portable AC unit does an excellent job cooling smaller rooms and is especially useful if you need something temporary or don’t want to install a window unit. The setup was fairly simple and it comes with the window exhaust kit and remote control, which makes it convenient to use. I like that it also works as a fan and dehumidifier, so it’s useful even when you don’t need full AC mode. The wheels make it easy to move from room to room if needed. It's an 8000 BTU unit that covers rooms up to 350 square feet, so don't expect it to cool your open-concept living space. It runs as a 3-in-1 with AC, dehumidifier, and fan modes, and supposedly operates as low as 50 decibels, which is quiet enough that it's not distracting.
