Let me prefice by saying don't expect this to be the only tool in your prospecting box. If you're hunting bedrock and need something quick, easy, and very sensitive, you should look at a Minelab Gold Monster 1000. I run my Axiom everywhere BUT bedrock after having used it for over a month, digging nuggets ranging from 0.03g specks of wire gold, to nuggets near 5g with the latter being found 3' deep with a nail. Took me a while but I soon enough identified two targets in very close proximity. I removed cobble, gravel, sand, clay, then busted through a thin sheet of bedrock. Below that was a black muck. Decomposing organic material. Still chasing those darn targets! I finally found the nugget and the second target seemed really weak. My buddy suggested I run over my pile. A nail. There's still a faint target in there. I'll be back. To have a machine identify two targets and to be able to hear the tone changes 3' above the objects, through those layers, and deduce the possibility of gold next to a nail or bullet. Show me any other detector that can do that. Ooh, and it finds copper nuggets! [EDIT] This is a bedrock beast. It'll look deep into the bedrock where the gold monster can't. Once you've found the target with the Axiom, switching over to the gold monster allows quick work as you chip away and pry out packed in cobble and gravel. Buy both! ... show more

I receieved an old unit which arrived dead and not functioning. Would not work with battery pack. Called Garrett, which recommended replacing unit. Seller phone number is dead.

I wasn't having any issues in wet ground where another person was struggling with a 6000. Very surprised I could detect and he couldn't.
