Wireless pro-connectivity gives you direct-to-device access to BirdsEye Satellite Imagery downloads, location sharing, Connect IQ app support and more. Of course everything in life is a compromise. This is heavier than its predecessors, and it isn’t cheap. It’s ideal for an ATV, motorcycle, hunting, etc. it has all of the outdoor capabilities built right into it, like dog tracking, heart monitor, cadence for bicycles, etc. The interface is certainly the easiest of the inReach thus far. Another big plus is the fact that it has a swappable battery. It’s certainly heavier then the previous versions of inReach, but of course it’s larger so that only makes sense. I’m sure not long down the road these things will become thinner, faster, etc., but as I said, right now this is the big cheese. The only thing that is missing is voice recognition. The only negative I have is the camera is almost worthless. I think we’ve become spoiled with the quality of photos on our smart phones, but the resolution on this is pretty bad. For me that’s not a big deal, because I don’t know that I would’ve ever used it anyway.

Amazing Product

I got this for my upcoming off grid trekking and i'm very happy. I am from South East Asia and this unit is a North America set, but no problem i was able to install Open Topo Maps for this. A bit bulky but feature packed. I also have the Garmin Explorer + and i'm loving both especially the inreach feature. FYI, make sure to only install maximum 32gb of SD card, I tried putting my 64 GB and the maps i installed are not viewable on my Montana. When I replaced it with a 32GB SD card, it worked like a charm. In fairness, garmin mentioned to use upto maximum 32gb. All in all good purchase. Reasonable delivery period as well. I paired it with a TUSITA Silicone case and TUSITA screen protector, it fits very well. gotta protect this rugged but expensive thing.

Horrible GPS. Nothing but trouble!

This GPS has been horrible from the beginning. It initially would not even recognize local address to navigate to. Then it started calculating time to reach a destination wrong. I was in Colorado on an adventure motorcycling trip and it was saying it would take 12 hours to go 150 miles. Was totally unreliable in critical situations in the middle of nowhere in Colorado. Now it wont even navigate to a waypoint, address, at all. . I called Garmin customer service and they said, "Oh yeah, we have been having this trouble with this model. We are working on a software update. It should be out in a few months" So, now my $750.00 GPS is still not working and I have to wait several months before a new software update! Customer service really did not care that I had spent this much money on a GPS that has never worked properly!

Definitely for off road adventures.

This device should primarily be marketed for ATV's, Quads, side-by-side's and motorcycles. The unit is very big, doesn't fit in the hand very well and it's quite heavy. It does however, mount well to a variety of handlebars and dashboards etc. There are mounting kits available specifically for this purpose. Running on the provided lithium ion batterie installed, it's a huge battery drain. This unit shines for off road adventures. If one needed to dismount and hike a distance it could technically be used for that, but it's not really a dedicated hiking unit like the GPSMAP 66i is.

Great GPS!

The best GPS receiver I've had so far, but also the most expensive. It does so many things that there is a "learning curve" for using all its features. My one complaint is that it only comes with a 'Quick Start Guide' and you have to download the full operator's manual from the Garmin website to learn all of its capabilities.

Highly complex takes a lot of time learning how to use it. One of the bad things is there's no user manual that comes with it. You have to go online and download it and print it from Garmin. U-Tube has a lot of video's on how to use it. Overall it's a great unit once you learn it. Give yourself a couple of weeks to master it
