I use my Garmin GPS all of the time, and it serves me very well. It does have on quirk though that sometimes leads me down the wrong path. At times it does not seem to know its left from its right. The graphinc display will show the correct way to turn, but the vocal instruction might tell you to turn the other way. I hope that is corrected in an update. Other than that it has been great mapping out the routes, showing me where red light cameras are, and offering alternate routes when the normal route is blocked or delayed and showing an estimated delay times for delays. ... show more

I currently have four Garmin vehicle GPS's and a Garmin GPSMAP 64X outdoor GPS. I purchased this Garmin DriveSmart 66 as an upgrade with more features than my current model . I purchased this item specifically as it was supposed to be compatible with my BC30 backup camera that I have on my camper. I was disapointed that only BC40 and BC50 were compatible and programmable out of the box. Rather than simply returning this GPS to Amazon I contacted Garmin and luckily talked to a customer service employee very interested in serving me as a customer even though I bought through Amazon. After explaining my disappointment that documentation was in error about BC30 compatibility this employee took the time to research the document that was listing all three BC products and found that in their system indeed the BC30 in error was found. Rather than returning the DriveSmart 66 she took the time to brain storm with me and we came up with a simple USB to USB-C adapter the when my original power cord was used with the adapter my BC30 was found and it resolved the problem. All other features are also available with the adapter and my original cord. I give Garmin Customer Service FIVE STARS the adapter was shipped for free including shipping and I received three days after contact. On the DriveSmart66 the product is good and what I was looking for but like other reviewers have said the voice command is lacking. My previous Garmin also has voice command and it included the option of changing the command name. The DriveSmart66 is a two word command and I cannot find a way to change to a single word command. The four star review is to identify poor accuracy of Gamin data error and less than great voice command. ... show more

I tried Garmin 66 & 65 at the same time on the same route. Both give specific directions in a clear voice. Both have side by side screen when needed and provide speed change alerts. The turn by turn point also includes distance so you do have an idea of how near the next turn is. They also suggest what lane you should be in in anticipation of the next turn/exit. Garmin 65 gave a near turn from point A to my point B while Garmin 66 stuck to the main arteries for the same Point A to B. I did follow Garmin 65 and it took at least a mile for Garmin 66 to recalculate, catch up to the changed way. When I missed a turn, Garmin 65 recalculated immediately while Garmin 66 had a delayed response. Even when both followed the new route, Garmin 65 immediately spoke the next turn while Garmin 66 kept silent. When nearing the turn, Garmin 65 reminded me of that change while that was the only time Garmin 66 mentioned the turn. Garmin 65 states the next turn, mentioning distance, at the beginning of a new direction and when nearing that turn, while Garmin 66 mentions the turn and near distance when almost there. One thing about Garmin 65 is that when leaving my place, it gave me a lot of turns to get to the main road while Garmin 66 was short & sweet, a simpler way out of my area. I chose Garmin 65 because I needed a wider screen with my failing eyesight and I favored the turn by turn it offered over Garmin 66. ... show more

I've had several GPS's over the years and this one is by far the best. Very clear maps. I don't have a PC so I got this one. It took about 2 hours to update. I put in a 32g micro SD card, and it did perfectly over wifi. It was a bit pricy, but I think definitely worth it. Especially if you don't have a PC. I'm glad I bought it, and if I could I would put one in my other car. Recommend.. ... show more

I ordered a new GPS after my existing GPS stoped working after I downloaded new software and maps. I bought the exact same model. As soon as I received it, I downloaded new software and maps. The same thing happened. It says there are no maps to navigate by. If you to the Garmin website for a fix, it gives you a Long list of steps you have to take to try to fix the problem. You probably won't live long enough to get it working. I returned it for a refund. ... show more

Anyone who uses their phone for navigation will regret that decision once you are in a very rural area with zero cell service. Maps works ok to fairly well how ever when you go into menu and use recreation search it's just horrible. I traveled 4 states over 6 weeks and 8 out of 10 times when you choose to destination it takes you to a trailer park instead of a national park or better yet it drops you 3 to 10 miles away from your destination in the middle of nowhere. I was lucky to have my Google maps running at the same time too comparer them side be side so that just tells me that Garmin has atrociously drop the ball in there maps update how ever if your going city to city I give it an 8 star but for other searches I give them a 2 star. ... show more
