We do not use "smart phones" however this device is something we have known about for years. At 80+ maps and directions became a tedious lengthy chore. We thought try out the Garmin on a recent trip and with some programing practice it turned out to be extremely helpful beyond all expectations. We are no longer driving anywhere now without it. Programing is not complicated but practice does matter since you need to read as well as click on symbols in combination to enter, save, and use the location information. If you make mistakes just keep working on it and we are confident that in no time the value in using it will become readily apparent. It always knows where you are geographically, has saved info on numerous locations, you can easily add your own and change things while in transit. We mount it inside on the windshield so that the driver and passenger can both view the display. A woman's voice supplies advanced directions, it simply works great. You enter information on a touch screen do not use your finger the eraser end of a pencil works without error and does not harm the screen. Once home we deleted all the travel locations and entered our local information. If you make a wrong turn it knows it and directs you back on the route. Please understand that the route it chooses may not be your first or regular choice. It appears to us that it is always looking for the shortest distance between the two points. We always use a toll road to reach our local airport but Garmin wants to use the interstate so we just ignore it and take the toll road and it calculates new directions automatically along the way. We should have purchased this device years ago.

A simple to use GPS as it works well, especially in an older vehicle

Like all Garming products , this one performs well. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because a micro SD card must be used in order to update the mapping software. Oh, and it can't be just any Sd card. It needs to be between 16 and 32GB ( 32GB recommended) so if you order this go ahead and add a 32GB micro SD card along with it

GPS unit arrived on timely manner, stared with charging the battery for one day and battery would drain really fast. The on and off button wouldn't work either. This is why I am rating it this low.

I decided to take a chance on buying a refurbished Garmin and am very happy that I did. It looks brand new and works perfectly. Easy to program and screen size is perfect. I had a bought a different brand and it was horrible to program returned that and I am glad I did

I bought a refurbished unit, so the price was cheaper. As far as I can tell, it appears to be new. I bought it as a backup for CarPlay, for when I don't have cell reception, but I do have this Garmin installed and in use all the time - but I depend on CarPlay, which is connected to my vehicle display. It would be nice if Garmin could be shown on my vehicle display, but it can't. I would like to be able to switch between CarPlay and the Garmin on my vehicle display - but it is not supported by Garmin, at least not by this Garmin device. I like that the Garmin always shows the current road, which CarPlay does not. The Garmin also shows the speed limit - CarPlay sometimes shows the speed limit, but not always. Basically, I just like having the Garmin was a backup for when I have no cell reception and CarPlay won't work. This Garmin does not require a monthly subscription, which is very good. This Garmin unit is not nearly as easy to use as CarPlay. But CarPlay can't use satellite, so if there isn't cell coverage around, I'm stuck - and I have been stuck.

I really love this navigator; it surpassed my expectations tenfold. Talks to you of upcoming turns etc. So much information on the screen for your current position and next turn. and the best part it is not complicated to use. It tells you in the instructions, but I will re-iterate it use the Garmin USB cord, do not use a cell phone cord, the contacts on the Garmin cord are different.
