  • Excellent
I purchased these nicotinic acid 100mg tablets a few weeks ago hoping to lower my cholesterol. My cholesterol was over 200 and my doc put me on Lipitor last year and it did get my cholesterol down to 150 but the side effects of lipitor were bad. Leg cramps, UTI's, memory loss, etc. So I did a search online and found nicotinic acid can help lower cholesterol and read all about the "flush" so I was ready. I am mildly sensitive to meds anyway so started with the 100 mg. The reviews were right about the flush but after a week the flush died way back. I now take 2 nicotinic acid 100 mg tablets, 5-10 minutes apart. Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. Not sure why I do this. When I feel the flush coming I just lay down and sense it is cleaning my arteries and veins. Hope to add an update when I get another lipid test at my yearly checkup. ... show more

  • Be Careful Starting Out.
Easy to swallow but 100 mg is really too small of a dosage to see much difference in cholesterol, even if you take it a couple times a day. That is why I purchased it. I am glad I started with the 100 mg though because I have such a reaction to the niacin. Hopefully I am used to it enough to move on to 200 mg. Be careful starting out. Take after eating and be ready to take an aspirin or two. I would feel great burning from my knees up. I turn red, even my eyes turn bloodshot! It's kind of intense for me but as long as I have a couple aspirin around, I know I can get the burning to stop within about 10 minutes. If it's really bothering me, I chew an aspirin to try to get it into my system faster. The product seems good. Don't worry. The redness and burning is just a sign that your blood vessels are expanding for a little while. It's doing what it's supposed to. If you're not prepared for that, you could think something is wrong. ... show more

  • Consistency Problems
I've taken niacin (as nicotinic acid) before (up to 500mg). And, I am familiar with the so called "niacin flush". I normally don't mind it. In fact, it can be a very pleasurable experience (warm and soothing). However, when taking 100mg of nicotinic acid (which is the claimed dose of this Bluebonnet product)-- I would expect no flushing at all. The majority of the time, that was my experience. But every once in a while, I flushed beet red from this product. Last night, I flushed worse than I have *ever* flushed from a nicotinic acid capsule. My conclusion? Inconsistency. Some capsules contain a small amount of nicotinic acid. Some contain ridiculously high doses. The one I took last night must've been (at least) 1,000mg. It was the most painful, itchy, and irritating niacin flush I have ever experienced. Therefore, I cannot (in good conscience) recommend this Bluebonnet product. And, I must quit taking it and try an alternative. And, I must score its overall value (its Amazon rating) very low. My suspicion is-- all of Bluebonnet's products are going to be of the same quality. So, I am now wary of this brand. And, I will have to give any of their products a great deal of careful consideration before trying them in the future. I'm not going to risk ingesting something that may potentially harm my body. ... show more

  • Quick Review
I used to take niacin years ago and experienced flushing. It was not a fun feeling. However, with this one, I've had none of that. I'm not sure if it's because of a lower dosage but just to let you know, I've had no severe flushing, irritation, or burning. Recommended.

  • NIACIN AND/OR NICOTINIC ACID MIGHT BE HELPFUL TO GET YOUR BRAIN BACK POST DCVIRUS
This niacin and others that Amazon sales call NICOTINIC ACID, might help you get your brain and body back post DCVIRUS in 19 but you might have to take like 1500 milagams of it every 3 hours like I was doing before and could fill my brain tingling back to life, and it might even help the whole event, but at 3 to 8 thousand milagams a day, might be what seamed to be helpful to get my brain back for a while and might even be helpful ... show more

  • Feels like burning
Having never taken a B3 supplement before I didn't know what to expect with the flush. I looked into it, and I don't know if other people are just not good at describing things, or if some people just have a more extreme reaction. I was just expecting to possibly feel warm, which is already bad enough. No, this was like fire under my skin with sharp stinging, followed by itching, I got a bit red as well. It started in my face. For a second I thought the face cream I had put on was irritating my skin, but it got worse and worse, spread to my ears, and eventually down my entire body. It's been about a half hour since I've taken this and I still feel a burning/warm sensation, albeit much more tolerable. I'm not trying to be critical of this product per se, as this is an expected side effect of B3 supplements and they don't claim "no flush." I just wanted to warn others that this flush can really hurt. For my needs, I should have gotten niacinamide, not nicotinamide, but that's my error. Supposedly niacinamide does not cause this flushing but depending on your intended purpose, nicotinamide may be the way you need to go. As for me, I wouldn't take this again unless my life depended on it. I'm doing it for cosmetic reasons, so, this was unfortunately a waste. ... show more

  • Will definitely take care of your Niacin supplemental needs
Great product. Packaged well, seems to be of great quality, consistent pills, and good packaging. Of course this is the niacin that DOES FLUSH. This is personally what I was looking for as I prefer the flush compared to the non-flush niacin. It felt to be consistent dosing and doesn't feel cheap. Will continue buying this brand when I need a refill. ... show more

  • Bluebonnet Hit a Homerun with this Niacin. Best Flush Niacin in the Market!
I do not care if this Niacin is not "no-flush". I like to feel the full flush of Niacin. The first capsule I took dilated my blood vessels from head to toe and everything in between, if you know what I mean. I am a male and this thing gives me a huge natural sex flush. It also does not upset my stomach probably because the ingredients are of such a pure quality. I only hope Bluebonnet keeps such an excellent Niacin in the market. If all other supplements Bluebonnet sells are as good as this Niacin, I fully recommend Bluebonnet products over any other brand. ... show more
