Using innovative bark identification technology powered by micro electro-mechanical acceleration sensors, the BarkLimiter series is able to distinguish between barking and other vocalizations. Also exclusive to the new BarkLimiter series is Advanced Bark Correction Technology, which delivers consistent and instantaneous correction, while virtually eliminating false corrections caused by external noises. And it all works right out of the box with a convenient Auto rise setting that automatically programs the stimulation intensity level based on the barking behavior of each individual dog. Or, choose manual or vibration options for alternative modes of correction. This lightweight, compact device is the perfect training tool for any dog with nuisance barking. • It’s even better than we hoped for!
Style: BarkLimiter Deluxe Pattern Name: BarkLimiter
My dog is relatively quiet unless he sees a smaller dog, children playing, or people running. Then he goes into bark mode which lasts way too long. We already have a beeping/vibrating bark collar that works but the battery life is only 10 hours. We needed something that had a better battery life, but especially after buying an RV. A park we stayed in recently had a zero tolerance for barking dogs (apparently after reading reviews of dog owners booted off). I bought this collar for the trip. I charged it prior to going. Put it in my dog in the morning, and only had it on the vibrate setting. It cuts the barking in about half. He usually has a nice little tantrum of barking for about 5 minutes but now this is a couple barks to maybe 2 minutes tops. I’m sure if we used the shock setting it would eliminate the barking but honestly he’s quiet for the most part so we do feel like this is needed. But, this collar worked well. I didn’t charge it for the 5 days we were there. I did take it off at night. Sometimes I’d flip it from v (vibrate) to n (neutral for off). Sometimes I’d leave it on v and it would go into standby mode to save power. When I got home I didn’t even need to charge it. It was still in green. I do think that the manufacturer’s instructions were spotty. Like it should mention the occasional flashing red light which just signals it’s on )not that it needs charging). I kept trying to charge it and realized it wasn’t charging because it was fully charged. But, when I changed from n to v then it would alert me to the fully charged status. Also, I had a heck of a time figuring out how to hook the charging mechanism to the bark collar. I finally figured out that the circle configuration of the bottom of the collar to the charger and the prongs lined up. Also, the different collar options when originally ordering the collar was confusing. I thought it was something special not just different color options. The basic black works fine. Honestly, my experience with this collar has been great. We were able to take our dog all around the town and in some shops. He was really well behaved and I believe some of that is because of how this collar changed his behavior. ... show more

  • AN ABSOLUTE GOD SEND
Style: BarkLimiter Deluxe Pattern Name: BarkLimiter
I recently got a a very sweet and very smart Lab who I quickly found out was a chronic barker especially at night. She would start barking and go on for hours. I had no sleep for over a week and was afraid the neighbors may call the Police. I taught her all the basic commands which she learned very quickly but nothing helped the barking. I tried everything including the Vet who gave me medication to calm her down. The medication did little. I went with this Garmin since it was a known company for electronics. When I got it I didn’t use it for over a week since I really didn’t want to shock her. However, at 2am one night I was desperate. All this stress and no sleep was actually effecting my blood pressure. And working herself into a tizzy each night wasn’t good for her either so I put the collar on her at 2am. The Vibration mode didn’t help. I finally worked up to #3 in the manual mode which stopped the barking. Every time she barked I told her No which I think helped her to understand the correlation more quickly between barking and getting zapped. By 3 am I was finally able to go to sleep. I don’t know what I would do without this. I was actually at the point of thinking I had to give her away or take her to a shelter. If you have a chronic barker and have tried everything else get this Garmin. Believe me you won’t be sorry. You’ll both feel better! ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE UNLESS YOU’RE PREPARED FOR EXTRA COSTS
Style: BarkLimiter Deluxe Pattern Name: BarkLimiter
I’ve used Garmin BarkLimiter Deluxe units for years and own more than 20 of them - ordered in several bulk orders over time. The BarkLimiter device itself works well AS LONG AS IT ACTUALLY STAYS ON THE DOG. But before you buy, you need to understand what Garmin will never tell you upfront: 1. The included “strap” is NOT a real collar. Garmin calls it a "strap"—and that’s exactly how it performs. It’s cheap, flimsy, and absolutely no match for a working dog. When (not if) your dog destroys it, Garmin considers that "physical damage", which is NOT covered under warranty. 2. If your dog chews the device, that’s also “physical damage.” Again—NOT COVERED. Garmin will offer a "one‑time exception" and replace the unit for $49.99, on top of the $129–$139 you already spent. AND you have to take time out of your day and drive to UPS to return the device. 3. Garmin has ignored this issue for years. I’ve called multiple times over the years. Every customer service rep says the same thing: We’ll forward the information.” Nothing ever changes. No improved strap. No protective option. No accountability. 4. I had to contract with a collar maker just to keep these usable. I literally had to pay a third‑party collar supplier to build custom collars so these devices would stop getting destroyed. Why should customers have to do that for a premium-priced product? 5. Garmin does NOT stand behind this product. If the device is damaged in any way—no matter how poorly designed the strap is—**it’s on you**. Don’t expect support, understanding, or a real solution. Just the option to pay more money. Bottom Line: The BarkLimiter Deluxe works great ONLY IF IT STAYS ON THE DOG. But if you have working dogs, expect the strap to fail and the device to get damaged. And expect Garmin to tell you it’s your problem - PAY UP! I recommend the device’s function but PROCEED WITH CAUTION. Be prepared to buy a real collar immediately and understand that Garmin will not stand behind this product when their strap fails! Category Ratings Overall Product Performance: 2 stars The device functions well only when it actually stays on the dog. The technology is solid, but the reliability is completely undermined by the strap design. Included Strap / Collar Quality: 1 star The strap is cheap, flimsy, and absolutely not suitable for working dogs. Garmin even refers to it as a “strap,” not a collar—and it behaves like one. It fails quickly, and none of the resulting damage is covered under warranty. Device Durability: 2 stars The electronics work, but the housing is vulnerable. If your dog chews it—or if the strap fails and the device gets damaged—Garmin classifies it as “physical damage” and will not replace it without charging you. Customer Service – Technical Support: 1 star Support reps repeat the same scripted line: “We’ll forward your concerns.” After years of calling, nothing has ever changed. Customer Service – Care & Concern: 1 star There is no ownership of the design flaw, no meaningful support, and no willingness to address long-standing issues. The only solution offered is a paid replacement. Research & Development / Product Improvement: 1 star Despite years of customer feedback, Garmin has made no effort to improve the strap, protect the device, or update the design. The same problems persist year after year. Value for Money: 2 stars The device itself works, but the hidden costs—custom collars, paid replacements, and repeated strap failures—make the overall value disappointing. ... show more

  • Excellent for two dogs
Style: BarkLimiter Deluxe Pattern Name: BarkLimiter
We have enjoyed two of these since Oct. 2021 on Australian Shepards. Our dogs are never far from each other and we worried that if one barked both will get shocked/vibration. That never seems to happen as only the barking dog whines or whimpers. The vibration is as good as the shock once they learn the vibration comes first. The most I have seen our 70 lbs dog take is 3-4 corrections and that was over a year ago. I no longer keep them so snug as the vibration is usually all that is needed and 8 hours is a long time to wear one. The Ausssies never seem to notice they are on until the first/last bark. They have gotten wet but never submerged, we let them go dead or almost dead before recharging. Hard to tell you how long the battery lasts after 2 years, as we only check for it to vibrate and turn green when we turn them on. Several days is my best bet on battery life. Truly a well made product, the collar bands have been surprisingly long lived. I’ll need to start looking for a replacement band to have on hands. Best wishes. ... show more

  • Does what made to do
Style: BarkLimiter Deluxe Pattern Name: BarkLimiter
We use this "as needed" which is between 3-7pm when all our neighbors are home from work walking their dogs. We live in a subdivision and everyone has a dog or 2. Our dogs run from window to window barking at every person they see (walking alone or with a dog, jogging, getting mail, package deliveries etc). I put the collar on the vibrate setting. After only a few times wearing the barking has reduced considerably. It seems to be breaking the barking habit and they don't bark as much even when not wearing the collar. Halloween, with the doorbell ringing about every 10 minutes, was the only night I had to put the collar on automatic (on just one of the 2 dogs) and it was quite a shock (literally) to my dog. He barked through the first shock and continued to bark as the shock level went up and he let out a yelp. My husband reached for the collar to remove it and he snapped at his hand. He stopped barking on his own but was clearly upset. I won't be using the shock setting again. This was a last measure resort for our family. We had tried many other training techniques first but with 2 dogs that whip each other into a barking frenzy we resorted to this collar. Be prepared, unless on vibrate, this does shock your dog. It is not pleasant for them in any way. If used continuously they very likely will lose fur on their neck. If used improperly they can get burns on the neck. You cannot leave on all the time. The collar itself is easy to use though the button that changes levels is a bit hard to change settings. This is made this way on purpose so it doesn't go up or off while the dog is wearing, running, playing. It is waterproof for swimming and the batter lasts a few days on a charge. It re-charges in a few hours. ... show more

  • Better than I hoped!
Style: BarkLimiter Deluxe Pattern Name: BarkLimiter
Can’t believe how well this is working. So I have 3 dogs. They were all rescues that my wife got before I met her. She was home full time with them till she passed suddenly and unexpectedly last year, so now someone comes by and lets them out in my fenced backyard while I’m at work. A sidewalk runs the length of the yard on one side and the two younger dogs tend to bark and run along the side whenever they see another dog walking past. The youngest dog in particular is a bit of a problem child has a bit of anxiety and would bark to no end extremely loudly any time he noticed a dog, especially when I’m not there to calm him down. Since the problem was mainly when I am not there a remote collar wouldn’t work, I needed automatic bark detection and some sort of feedback to know if it was working. I got this collar and figured I’d use the bark odometer built in to track progress. Day 1 he barked 46 times on the auto setting with increasing debating per barking event. Day 2 he obtained 20 times. Day 3 he only barked 7 times! I could t believe how fast this is working. Also strangely it seems to be helping with more than the barking. As mentioned above he is the problem child. Whenever someone (between the 3 dogs and 3 cats) is in trouble he is invariably either the trouble maker or involved. For him the barking was a frantic high anxiety behavior as is most of his trouble making behavior. I’ve already noticed that he seems to be learning to control himself and calm down more than just learning to not bark. He’s calmer and not even running the fence length frantically when the other young dog does. It seems the collar is teaching him self control instead of just teaching him not to bark. Couldn’t be happier. I’m thinking in a few weeks he probably won’t need it anymore and the other barker will get a turn! I’ll update if anything changes but so far very impressed! ... show more

  • Can't believe I'm even using a bark collar; BUT, I am SO grateful to have found this one!
Style: BarkLimiter Deluxe Pattern Name: BarkLimiter
My new to me dog, 3 year old neutered male miniature poodle, came to live with me in March. He was rehomed/gifted by a breeder who'd fallen on hard times and needed to rehome her dogs. SO sad. I fell into and remain totally in love with this little man. Story made short: I learned he'd been cage/kennel kept for the previous 2 of his 3 years and I've figured out he probably wore a bark collar more or less all the time...and he'd learned how not to get shocked...by howling and crying...because the collar didn't alert if he wasn't barking. Didn't matter if I left for 45 seconds or 2 hours. He howled. So, after a lot of soul searching (I've always been opposed to bark collars) and on the advice of my Vet, and out of options, I bought a collar. A collar that chirped and vibrated. Almost had a pain in my heart the first time I put it on him. And, it didn't work. He still howled. Back to the drawing board and more research. Then, I found this miracle. Made by Garmin. Garmin BarkLimiter Deluxe with AUTOMATIC LEVELS!!! GAME CHANGER!!! SUCCESS!!! No more agonizing over the idea that I might not be able to keep my new love because I couldn't help him! If I had to ask anything of Garmin, it would be that they would emphasize the amazing value of the Automatic Level setting and that it resets itself, etc., especially to first time users of a bark collar. I'm a Grandma who'd never held a bark collar much less used one and finding balanced info is hard! Thank you though for this wonderful tool. It really is amazing. I am so grateful...so's the dog. ... show more
