I enjoy the holes and bolts to attached to my recommended height, in this case I buried a stump in ground, added top of stump 1in trim boards to allow space for the size logs I have pre cut.

This log splitter is excellent for splitting fire wood and kindle wood easy to use and makes it more safe. It stands up and you don't have to hold or balance the log while you split it.     • Lightweight, effective firewood log splitter.

This is my first firewood log splitter and frankly I really like it. I would strongly recommend you anchor it wherever you use it. I just used some long screw drivers but it really should be anchored. I had no problem easily splitting logs into smaller kindling size bundles. Some of the reviews stating it’s not sharp enough are missing the point of the product. There’s a sharp piece on top that you secure the wood so that it stays in place. The splitting bars are not supposed to be sharp because they aren’t needed to effortlessly work. That’s a safety design that’s a thoughtful part of the product. Sledgehammer is more than effective to split wood, but I have also used a regular axe although I wouldn’t recommend it unless your very careful. Overall, the weight is light, it should last a lifetime. I hope that helps! ... show more

This splitter has taken so much work out of making kindling, I don't feel worn out by making a small stack anymore. I tried this with a 3lb hammer and it works well on Ash and Hickory, however I feel that a 5lb hammer makes it much easier. I see some posts about the blades not being sharp, while I agree with that statement, I don't expect them to be as sharp as my axe either. With the short 5lb hammer it splits the wood pretty effortlessly. I initially didn't have it mounted to anything and just had it setting on my concrete, I have noticed that it doesn't have the bounce or want to walk around when it is mounted to a stump. "The product is very sturdy, especially when secured to a large stump or log using the hardware included. Initially I just used it in my driveway to test it out. I then mounted it to a stump. I was able to split several nice sized logs in just minutes. Unlike some other products, this one allows you to split a single log into four pieces quickly. The cover it comes with is nice too.
