These Gardena 18600 retractable hose reels have improved my home life tremendously! I was frustrated having to clamber through our admittedly poorly designed garden beds to get the the spigot, invariabley trampling something either underfoot or as I dragged the hose to and fro. Now, with the Gardena reel, I leave the spigot open and have the reel conveniently located where I can grab the hose without having to cross the bed to get the the spigot, and all it takes is a one-handed twist of the included nozzle and I’m in business, watering. No more do I have to drag a cart or try to wind a hose reel manually, bent over in the bed; just a short tug and the reel picks up the hose neatly. Honestly, this is the best money I’ve spent on anything for yard work…it makes using the hose as close to a no-brainer as I can imagine, and looks tidy and modern. Be aware it is a smaller gauge hose than those of us in the USA are accustomed to. It flows a pretty good volume, but it’s not as much as the standard hose size. I do not find it a problem for my water needs at all I have both the wall mount Gardena unit, and three of the post mounts, covering each side of the house. I like the post mounts for their locating flexibility, but both types work equally well. The units include lead hose and connectors (for several— or every— common hose/bib size) and a spray nozzle, so everything needed to put the units to use. The quick connectors are great because they shut off the water when you want to, say, change the nozzle to a sprinkler. Smart design. I did get a couple of replacement lead hoses for greater length to place the units where I wanted them and to have it discreetly on the ground; one is even buried under mulch. In one of my included pics, you can see the lead hose is suspended in the air, and not good looking, so take care to check your post distance and avoid that! Around 45-50 feet this unit is well made, works effectively and is aesthetically pleasing. There is a reason it is slightly more expensive than the others. This is made in Germany and the engineering of it is strong. It was also very easy to install. I drilled the holes into horizontal siding and it was straightforward. The cord management is great as it retracts whether or not there is water flowing. The major advantage of this system is that Gardena has a great attachment system with a pull snap mechanism for the nozzle. One downside is that the provided water spout is a little difficult to use with one hand. In fact, you have to use two hands to spray and it’s only one option. I bought the additional spray nozzle and replaced the provided one. But it was all well worth the effort and money. ... show more

Well built, well designed, functions as advertised … just makes sense. I love it. We attached the wall mounted unit to our brick house with some tapcon screws from the store. More than sturdy enough to hold the unit up. It makes life easier and more aesthetically pleasing. Thanks Gardena!

Overall this is a good quality unit. One thing to note is the quick disconnect allows the hose nozzle to become disconnected when using it. Wife got a good shower... lol The fix was to place a plastic cable tie around the hose adjacent to the quick disconnect collar. Downside is that to change the hose nozzle which we will seldom do, requires removal of the cable tie. Small price to pay for securing things under pressure. It came with extra connectors to accommodate different attachments. ... show more

Still working great! Really easy to use, I've left it outside year round this far ( not sure I'd recommend that in some climates) but everything still works and looks the same as when it was new

I absolutely love this thing. I’m used to the old plastic reels with a miniature foot peg that you hold down while you yank like a mad person trying to unreel 100 ft of water hose into a pile somewhere behind me. Then having to drag said hose through all of the dog crap in the yard that I’m unaware of plus grass clippings, wetness, etc to get to my work area. Of course I have to make a few curves which means I’m having to do this two times so the slack doesn’t get stuck on anything. Then when I’m done, I had to roll it all back up threading the dog crap, grass clippings, dirt coated hose back through my fingers and I use the last bit of energy I have left for the time being, trying to not to let the hose build up in any single location. Now with the Gardena, I take the nozzle, walk to my work area with it over my shoulder, finish the job, give a slight tug on the hose, put it down, go inside. The Gardena does the rest. It’s like I have someone who is putting everything up for me. It doesn’t build up in speed as it’s retracting. It maintains a good steady pace all the way to the housing. It’s easy to pull out to where you need and it’s swiveling ability is great for moving around corners. ... show more

This hose is incredible. From the handling of and preciseness of the locking mechanism to the managing of the waterflow. One tug on the hose and it automatically starts to retract. Well worth the money.
