The instructions CLEARLY state to install the red spring on the right side and black on the left. They even have a video that shows the spring with the red on the right side but that did not work. I had them completely installed but it was impossible to open the door with that much tension on the rod. I had to completely remove them to install with the red spring on the left side to get them to work. This job should have only take a couple hours but wound up taking a whole day. They do work once they are installed correctly but Be Warned...

Don't need these very often but when you do, this product is nice to have. I left on a trip and when I got home, the garage door would not open. Found out that one of the original garage door springs had broken and needed to be replaced. I called the a garage door company and they wanted several hundred dollars (close to 4 figures) to come out and replace the spring for a 2 hour job. I did some research and found out how to do it myself. I ordered these springs and found out that it is an easy install. This product comes with everything that you need to do the job, springs for both sides, winding bars to wind and unwind the springs and gloves to keep your hands from getting dirty/oily. It took me less than 2 hours to remove the old springs and to install the new springs. These springs are made of high quality materials and are expected to last 16000 opening/closing of the door. I am impressed with the product and the price of the product.
