I have an Craftsman/Chamberlain 1/2HP oldie ('80s I think?) don't know, came with the house. Anyway, I had 4 wires so I just taped up the yellow and black wires and all I get is the open/close function and no working light or lock feature. My opener's light comes on when you hit the "Open" button anyway and stays on for several minutes after you close it. I have all kinds of lights in my garage so I don't need it and it looks great, way better than the old timey one I had on there with a cracked button. My green LED doesn't work either. I tried every wiring configuration so forget it if you think a 4 wire opener might work all the buttons. Open/close is what you'll get! ... show more

    • Bright green light and works great with my Linear Motor after I modified the circuit
The OEM wall switch that came with the house was ugly dry-rotted and cracked. I didn't like it at all, so I bought this one, but the Light and Lock switches were not compatible with my Linear brand motor, so I replaced the momentary contact with an SPST micro-pushbutton and added a resistor to make the Light and Lock functions work which also required re-wiring those circuits, but it's no big deal since I'm an EE, so it's child's play. Well, I did have to waste an hour reverse-engineering the PCB to determine exactly what I had and what I needed to make this work, but it was fun. ... show more

This $7 item works fine with my nearly 30-year-old Sears Craftsman garage door opener—hooked up to the two wires coming out of my wall that used to be basically a doorbell. The two buttons on the bottom (Lock / Light) do not function, but I'm not surprised. Took me maybe 15 minutes to it hook up. The light is a just green dot in the center of the big white button—it doesn't illuminate the entire thing green, in case you wondered. ... show more

It is a basic garage door opener with no bells and whistles. The green light in the middle is very dim, but enough to see in a complete darkness. It was easy to install and operate.
