My previous super-automatic espresso machine was a Saeco Xelsis EVO, purchased in 2013. After 71,988 uses, it developed an irreparable leak, and I was unable to locate a repair shop in the United States. This new machine has a similar design, and in fact, the brew group, water tank, and drip tray are identical. I believe, aside from the front panel and electronics, the machines are essentially the same. If this machine provides the same longevity as my previous one, I would be delighted. It produces an exceptional espresso, and the other beverages are just as good as those from Starbucks. In addition to excellent coffee, I anticipate saving $50 per week. The machine should pay for itself in about 38 weeks. It's the best machine on the market for the price, a conclusion I reached after five weeks of research looking at machines from multiple manufacturers. For some reason the coffee comes out weak I try different settings for grinder from fine to rough and everything comes the same way. I do use medium roast coffee. Is like not grinding a lot of coffee. And when I look for coffee pots they are a meshed and not solid one. The picture shows one of them is rough grinding and the other two of fine grinding. Plus in users the yellow one on the bottom is not working good. Keep pressing but so many times is not responding to touch. The other problem is that the water container is very small. You need to add more water too often. And if is under the cabinet like mine was is very hard to do it. You need to move the machine out just to pull water container or coffee beans. But I had to return because of the grinding, brewing coffee. ... show more

Had a Haggis before and it was a workhorse . No longer in use because no one services this model. Bought this new one and while expensive, it is awesome. Doesn't take too much to learn, but depending on your beverage, it may take a shot while before you're dialed in. Some reviews have complained about the heat of their drinks. Keep in mind factory settings for the stored drinks menu are a bit conservative on the temp. Good news is you can modify it and save off the drive k as a favorite. Tip: keep a large glass of water nearby and refill the tank after each brew. The rinse cycle takes up some water and you may see a frequent need to top off. Great machine! ... show more

It produces better espresso than the previous model and offers the ability to select the desired drink, adjust each drink to our liking, and save it. Pros: It's a joy to use. Friends are amazed at the drink options which are all customizable. I usually start the day with a "Morning Special", the name I gave to my modified flat white, strong aroma, a little extra milk, a level higher of foam. Those two separate shots of espresso get me insta-woke. Then two cafe-au-laits for a mellow follow through. Four total shots seem to be the limit for the interior drip tray. Takes less than a minute to remove and empty the drip/puck tray, empty front drip tray, add water. If you plan on using this under a cabinet, use felt pads on the feet. Makes it really easy to add water and beans. I spent more time cleaning my old Breville porta filler, drip tray and group head than I do this machine. I compared this one to the Jura 8 and chose the Gaggia because you do not have to do a deep clean the milk line every day like you do with the Jura. It does a steam clean every time you close the frother arm. The only con is it does not make the milk-based drinks hot enough for my taste, but I just pop my drink into the microwave for less time than it takes for the milk frother to be steam sanitized and the carafe returned to the refrigerator. ... show more

    • Excellence--with a catch

I used this briefly, then returned it. Almost everything is top-notch: very well-built; flat, ceramic burr grinder; nice auto milk frothing; extremely easy milk processing (read about this); excellent espresso quality; super user-friendly. It's also surprisingly-easy to clean, considering it keeps all the mess on the inside: just remove and rinse the brew assembly weekly--takes about two minutes. The only catch, to me, is that the grinder is not user-accessible. I like to try different coffees, so I frequently switch and need to clean the grinder. You can't do that with this machine without voiding the warranty. Also, Gaggia strongly discourages using dark roast with this machine, since the beans are oily. I like dark roast. ... show more

Don't Waste Your Money! No Support! Made With Cheap Parts! I have had this machine for a little over a year, and a hose burst inside the unit. After removing over 20 screws to access it, it was clear that the issue was bound to happen, given how it was kinked during initial installation. It should be made of copper, not plastic, given its high-pressure hose application. I called the support number, and the recording says they don't take support calls and to go to a website address that doesn't exist. To charge $1800 for a coffee machine and not offer any support is ridiculous. I'm lucky to have a son who can fix anything, or this piece of crap would be going in the garbage. ... show more
