Shades are really good for blackout and are easy to install. They have only 1 issue so far. At the bottom where the pole is inserted, after only two weeks that flap has failed and the pole is useless. I suggest e different option when rolling up.

when I ordered this, it had 3 reviews with no comments. So I took a chance. The fabric is thin, flimsy, and plastic. I actually measured my window, and ordered them long AND wider, but as seen in the pictures it barely fit with the sides still allowing light through. For $25 EACH, I expected better quality. They crinkle and tear easily, since they are plastic. Also, the bottom magnets are not. My French doors are magnetic and I expected these to attach at the bottom and they, simply hover over. This was an easier solution for Florida heat, the windows are professionally ceramic tinted and we have black out roll shades. These do have a cooling effect but just note what you’re getting for such a ridiculous price

The negative: the bottom broke the first night we had them up so it doesn't roll up now as there is nowhere to add the bar in. It also didn't roll well anyway. The positive: works well to keep the afternoon heat out from the sun. I don't think I'd purchase this specific one again unless I just need something to keep the sun/heat out.

I’ve tried black out curtains before. But the kind I got before you had to use an adhesive to stick onto the window. So if I wanted to open the window , I’m just stuck with the black sheet that was on it. This has the ability to roll up and down. It takes the majority of the stark contrast of light at bay for the most part. You can trim this down to size if you needed to and I got the wider width for this just in case since I didn’t measure my windows. It works really well and I haven’t had any issues with it. The fact you can roll this up allows you to still have the option to see what’s going on outside. It’s a plus that I didn’t need any curtain rods as well.
