I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this bed knowing I would likely have to set it up myself ... admittedly I was scared. But i did it! I put this thing together by myself. I'm not saying it was a piece of cake but honestly I think if I had help, it would have been worse. It took me two hours, but I was also watching tv. I did get tripped up three times. When I did the first side, I figured out pretty quickly I had a piece upside down. Once fixed, no issues until the last two steps. When attached the top piece 2 of the holes had some debris in them so I did have to clean out some leftover wood pieces. And then the very last step .. attach the legs first!! It definitely helps in knowing which way the slats go. It feels extremely sturdy and a single mattress fits perfectly under it. I do still need to get a trundle but wanted to see the frame done first. So all said.. it's not that bad!! Use the enclosed direction pictures. Have a beer by your side. And just do it. This room definitely needed something like this, as I didn't want to give up the double guest bed I already had. ... show more

Boy was this sucker a pain in the rump to assemble 😑 Some of the pre drilled holes weren't fully or correctly drilled so we had to finish them ourselves. The wood doesn't appear to be good thick solid wood, it's kind of the cheap stuff. For what I paid, I expected the quality to be a bit better. Also the planks that go across the bottom aren't very durable either. So we're going to have to hit the lumber store and get an additional sheet of wood to help make it a bit sturdier. ... show more

The frame looks nice but probably only works as a guest bed (which is what we purchased it for). The wood had a strong chemical odor that took a few days to dissipate. The frame feels pretty light and I don’t think it could handle heavy use. But it looks nice and serves its purpose in our guest room. ... show more

We needed one extra spot for the occassional guest, so we got this for our office. It was relatively easy to build (tedious, but easy, like most bigger objects). We just but a 6-inch mattress to go on top... and it works well enough. Might not be comfortable for long-term sleeping, but for a night or two it works great. Our dogs love it too! ... show more

I liked product externally, however surprised to see the side beams are plywood. They are the main weight carrying members of the bed. I rarely used the bed, it broke when 3 boys sat on the bed. I am sure they weigh lower than 500lb capacity of the bed.
