  • Small, but makes lots of ice
Color: Stainless
Nugget ice is just the friggin best. This machine has caused us no grief it at times will be kind of loud but it never bothers us. It is small enough not to take up much space, but big enough that it makes lots of ice.

  • NO SERVICE WARRANTY/PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE REVIEW
Color: Black Stainless
Most recent update: The replacement the company sent either was not new or a different one someone else had used, for after about six months, this one still is making good ice but it has some sort of black pieces(which i suspect is a piece of tubing, as it is now leaking)and it's not the plug. As I've said all along, when working, it makes great ice, but be prepared, as it very well may not last more than 6-12 months and then you have the nightmare of dealing with the company, Curtis Intl. not Frigidaire! They have beaten me. I'm going to try another brand, but if it arrives and has Curtis Intl. anywhere on it I'll send it back before my 30 days are up. This item is great when working. I bought this after seeing one like it a relative has. I loved it for seven months. Then it stopped. I went through all the trouble shooting steps, without success. I had always used distilled water in it, as the manufacture suggested. I thought, " except for the hassle of shipping it back, no problem. I'll send it back, it's still under warranty". What a joke! I contacted the number on the back of the of the instruction booklet and I was given a claim and to follow the instructions. I followed the instructions, which including sending pictures. After which, I received the same message several times asking for the same information, name, address, model number, etc. Again, I complied. After couple of weeks, with no word, I called and was told the photos were being reviewed. The day after Christmas, I received an email including a picture of the back of the machine with a yellow circle drawing around the vent . The email went on to say because that part was damaged, the machine's warranty was voided and the matter was closed. I immediately responded to the email, stating that the machine was not damaged but it was perhaps the reflection or shadows from the photo making it appear that way. I went on to state that I was, at the time, traveling and would not return until the middle of the month, at which time I would forward several photos to show, there was no damage. I have never received a response to that email. Upon my return I attempted to contact CURTIS INTERNATIONAL, LTD. When I called I have always been courteous and not angry. I've never yelled or anything. The last two times I finally reached a human after being on hold for more than six minutes both times, I asked to speak to MARK YOUNG (the signer of the email, denying my claim}, in CUSTOMER SUPPORT. I have no idea if that is a real person or a fictional person for such matters that is sent with those type denials. Both times I was asked to hold, the last time by a female identifying herself as Julia, and both times I was placed on hold and after about 20 seconds the line disconnected. I realize this is a long review, but it demonstrates my frustration. To summarize, the machine, WHEN WORKING, is great, it's fast, nice nugget ice. My relative's machine, which is 19 months old and filled only with tap, city water, works flawlessly. If it goes bad, do not expect any help from the warranty from this Canadian Company. AMAZON is also no assistance once their return window is closed. They simply refer you to CURTIS. UPDATE: The second week of Jan. I received another email from Mark Young, stating that if I would send additional photos, my claim would be reevaluated. i sent them in the next day. As of nearly week later, still no response. FINGERS CROSSED. Update: As of the week of March 4th, I received an email stating the upon further review, the company has agreed to either refund the cost of the machine or replace it with another. The email went on to state they would decide which and I would receive on or the other in the next four to six weeks. At least they have acknowledged the problem. Again, FINGERS CROSSED. Another update: After only nearly six months and $73 out of pocket, I received on my front porch, without any notice an apparently new machine. It is working perfectly, at present. As I've mentioned before, when it's working it is great. I hope the first I bought was merely a fluke and not the usual. I realize while doing this addition to the review that I have never mentioned the name the machine is sold under...it's FRIGIDAIRE. This is important as when I purchased the machine, I knew, or thought I knew, they were a good company. The machine is made by a company called Curtis Internationa in Canda. That is fine, but FRIGIDAIRE will offer absolutely NO support for the product, they merely refer you to Curtis. What if you bought an Honda lawnmower and discovered the engine was made by Briggs. If Honda stood behind it, no problem In this case, the named company DID NOT. When this is working, it is great and I'm totally happy. I have relatives that have the same one that has been working flawlessly for over a year. So BUYER BEWARE, if there's a problem, be prepared for a hassle. ... show more

Good little ice maker. Makes a tray full of ice very quickly. Quiet operation

  • An hour or so for enough in a tumbler
Color: Black Stainless
Not quite sonic ice but is great for the price. Can have enough to fill a 30oz tumbler in about an hour. The ice melting and refilling the water tray during the day is a nice touch.

  • Pretty good, but limited lifespan
Color: Stainless
This makes terrific ice for chewing, but it’s not the soft ice from, say, Sonic. It has less air in it, I think. But it’s wonderful for drinks, too. And it refills quickly. The technology is evolving so quickly that I’d buy this model again at a discount, but will probably upgrade to the next level when this one dies. I’ve had three (two were bought as gifts for others) and the life span is 7 - 12 months so far ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK
Color: Black Stainless
I originally purchased this item in May of 2023. At first it appeared to be a good ice maker but after about 10 months it began making loud noises and died. "Luckily" it was within the 1 year warranty period which turned out to be a total hassle. After about 4 months of jumping through hoops with Curtis (who actually makes this thing) and spending over $100 to send the unit back to them I received another one in July of 2024. Upon first use a bolt fell out of the ice dispenser. Not a good sign but I had no ability to do anything but take it since this unit carried no warranty. It seemed fine for a while but long story short it made it through this Christmas and then literally fell apart at the seams with parts falling out, black residue in the ice, etc. A total disaster which has now been discarded. So, 2 units tested and neither made it to a year of usage. I highly recommend that you do not purchase this unit and waste your money. ... show more

  • Amazing Product if Cleaned Regularly.
Color: Black Stainless
The media could not be loaded. We’ve grown to adore our icemaker over the past year, but there are a few key maintenance tips we’ve learned along the way. Regular cleaning and draining are essential. I suggest using a spray hose for the interior and wiping it down with warm, soapy water. Initially, we had some hiccups as the manual didn’t cover all the cleaning details. One crucial but often overlooked area is the grid near the drain hole. It’s imperative to pop it off and clean underneath regularly to prevent dirt buildup and backwash accumulation. Since implementing this routine, and ensuring we clean it with a toothbrush and drain it weekly, our icemaker has been performing flawlessly. Regarding the squeaky sound mentioned by others, it’s typically caused by buildup under the grate, resulting in insufficient water flow to the top, leading to grinding noises. Overall, it’s a fantastic product. I’m no longer tasked with impromptu ice runs, much to my wife’s delight! ... show more

  • Frigidaire Icemaker
Color: Stainless
We've had various icemakers that last a few months and die. We bought an extended warranty on this Frigidaire but hoping we don't need it. It's simple design is far different from the previous model we chose. It's easier to clean weekly and monthly and it's affordable. The only drawback I can see at this early point in time is that it tends to build up ice at the spout which slows production. I'll send an update in a few months if needed. ... show more
