We have a large old house with an open downstairs layout. For years, we have had one large room air conditioner and then used large fans to pull the air to other parts of the downstairs, but this never cooled off the kitchen which is 2 large rooms away. So when Prime Days came around, we took advantage of a great deal to purchase this quality product and put it in the window nearest to the other parts of the downstairs. This was a particularly scorching summer at times and our old methods weren't cooling off the downstairs well enough during those extreme heat warning stints. This air conditioner is ridiculously easy to set up (actually made me realize how I put the one in my bedroom together incorrectly, without looking at the directions) and wasn't too heavy to lift up to put into a 6-foot high kitchen window--even for this person with a bad back. The unit fits 95% perfectly into the window and the old, uneven windows of our 140-year-old home likely are to blame for that. The noise is truly minimal for what it does. And the remote control is very simple and easy for my senior mother to use, instead of having to use the buttons on the unit. I love that it is eco friendly and that it won't use expensive energy when we don't need it. Lastly, I will say that I am sure it will work beyond great if you use it for just one closed-off room. However, people like us who need to cool off more than that area, I can say that it does cool strong enough that you can use a fan to pull the air to another room. Since adding this conditioner to the kitchen, the downstairs has been overall very pleasant despite the latest extreme heat stint. And I'm not overly concerned about the next electric bill as I know it helped use other forms of cooling less overall. We purchased this under a great deal but I would say it is well worth the expense and future savings for you to buy it at full price! ... show more

My existing A/C stopped working this summer so I had to get a new one. I was a bit worried it wouldn't be big enough for my area, but it has worked wonderfully. It does not run constantly if you put it on Eco mode, and it does the job and keeps my bedroom cool, even when its really hot outside. The 3 speed fan - it is 3 speeds, and you can hear the difference if you change them, but the actual quantity of air moved is not great between low and high. Quiet - well it isn't to noisy, but in comparison to a 6 year older "quiet" air conditioner it is noisy. Ease of installation - pretty easy to install and some window stripping is provided. I use some DAPtex Plus foam to seal the gaps. Have not been able to find that foam for a couple years. The DAPtex Plus is great because it is easy to remove, and does not sit up rock hard. Construction - a lot of plastic, like most all stuff these days. The accordion expansion panels provide almost no insulation, so fitting in some foam board blocks over them after insulation is recommended. Also if you live in a Cottonwood tree area and you want to keep the outside coil from plugging up - get a roll of the 1/4 inch thick filter material and wrap the A/C outside and tie it in place with a cheap cargo strap, or two. UPDATE: We've had this ac for a month. It does all I have said. It really keeps our home comfortable. It's still well. It was easy to install. Functionality? Let me tell you about this ac. with heat. The unit delivers cold as ice air when you want it. It can be set to whatever temp you desire and it doesn't fail you. Our home stays comfortable. Not too cold or too hot. Just right. If needed, it can be set to another temp. Doesn't make a lot of noise. Cuts off automatically at the set temp. We are Loving this ac. The air flows nicely across the room. This is a Beast of an ac. Did I say it's nice to feel comfortable and not too cold or too hot. I guess I did :D We bought the 23,500 btu unit. You have to try this product. You won't regret it. Remote works good too. We tried the heat and the cool air. They both work great. Thank you for such a great product and working to making it easier to pay for. I was gonna share a video, but we're remodeling our dining area where we put the ac and I need to paint. It looks good sitting there. Doesn't look like an eye sore. ... show more

I got the 23,000 BTU version, so this may not apply to any other size. Unit arrived damaged on the outside, which is a delivery issue and not applicable to how well it works. HOWEVER, the unit itself is a pain in the a** to install. You have to remove it from the outside casing in order to install it, and you will NOT likely be able to do so by yourself. The instructions aren't particularly clear, either, so you'll have to look up videos to make sure you get it right. (This is where prayer comes in handy.) It's needlessly obnoxious. And THEN you'll have to figure out a way to plug it into the wall BECAUSE THE 230 VOLTS PLUG IS WEIRD AND HUGE. Maybe I should have realized this would be a problem, but I genuinely had no idea. And now I'm quite irritated because I still don't know if it actually works yet because I CAN'T PLUG IT IN YET. If it ends up working and does a good job, I'll come back and add another star or two to the rating. Otherwise, it's staying right where it's at. Needless to say, the idea that this is easy to install is a complete and utter lie. You won't even be able to use it without jumping through hoops that SHOULD NOT be necessary. This is sheer laziness on the part of Frigidaire and is bound to result in accidental injuries to yourself and/or damage to the unit. ... show more
