  • Good sharp bit. Runs true and cuts clean.
Made a circle jig for my plunge router and used one of these bits to cut two small table 22.5 inch tops out of 3/4 inch baltic birch. I cut them in three passes and had no problem... cut like butter. I bought an extra bit because I was afraid of snapping one of these pure carbide bits, but that didn't turn out to be a problem for me. This is the first time I used a circle jig. I am very satisfied with the sharpness and quality of cut which was perfect. It seemed to clear the sawdust sufficiently and had almost no break out on the bottom of the boards. None whatsoever on the top which would fit with a down-cut bit. A few seconds with the sander and they are ready for the next step. ... show more

I used this bit to cut out circles using a jig and router. The down spiral bit works well with little to no tear out. If you go to slow it will chatter slightly, this didn't have any effect on the quality of the cut. If it does happen try increasing your feed speed slightly. Or if you have an adjustment for router speed try slowing down the RPM's. The bottom of the cut was also smooth. ... show more

  • Best Bang for the Buck DownCut Bit
Bit worked great but to be honest, my regular Freud straight bit did just as well on the melamine top I just built for an assembly table. No chipping so it does a great job. Also left very clean hole bottoms for shelf pins. My router has pretty good dust collection so the down cut bit was not a problem clearing or seeing what you were doing. Another great Freud bit. ... show more

  • Another great Freud product
Router bits are more important than the router they're used in -- high-quality bits will give you a high-quality cut. I have never been disappointed in Freud's router bits. I used this bit to cut four round tabletops around 36" diameter out of solid walnut and it consistently gave me a beautiful, clean cut with edges so smooth they almost didn't need sanding. Almost. ... show more

  • Nice bit for the price
Used it to rout a channel into a laminate desktop for a miter track and a router plate. Worked very well i had very very little chipout. Haven't used it enough to know how long the edge will stay sharp but at this point I'm happy with it and would probably buy it again when this one is done.
