  • With a few improvements, I could rate these pants higher
Color: Black Size: 40W x 32L
I bought these pants to wear for work, where black cargo pants are required. However, standard cargo pants just aren't warm enough to wear when riding a motorcycle in colder temperatures, especially colder than 60° F. Since I ride a motorcycle year round, weather permitting, I needed something better than run-of-the-mill cargoes. These, of course, are not motorcycle pants, so they will not provide any additional protection against road rash or impacts. Neither will standard cargo pants from any other manufacturer. I suspect these pants will hold up as well as standard cargoes and denim jeans. That is to say, not much at all. If you need that, you should purchase motorcycle cargoes (only one company I know makes them, and they are nearly 4x the price of this pant or standard cargoes). These fleece-lined cargo pants nearly fit the bill for me for warmth. When I say nearly, I mean they need a few adjustments to provide a much more pleasant experience. I will go into those improvements at the end of my review. These pants are warm. If it's above 50°, you're likely to sweat in them. You'll even sweat in them when it's colder and the breeze is light. The only time you might feel cold in them is if there's a good high wind and you're not moving at all. If you're moving around, you should stay plenty warm. Even in most U.S. winters. I first thought these pants would be a problem at lower temperatures on a motorcycle at highway speeds. They aren't! I can feel a temperature difference when riding – I've ridden as cold as 26° F on a blustery morning before sunrise – and for the 30-45 minute ride to work, these pants are comfortable. They appear to be a natural part of my uniform as well, so I don't have to change out of them or anything. I just ride to work and immediately get busy. That's better than wearing overpants to keep warm as I ride. I hate layering up! The fleece is soft, too, I might add, as fleece should be. So I don't have any problem with friction or movement in these, either. However, I have a couple of complaints that, if addressed, would go a long way to making these pants near perfect. First, make the belt loops more robust. The loops on this pant are pencil thin. Second, position the loops to better support the front and back of the pants. The front loops are too much off to the side, leaving an unsecured gap of 6=8" at the front, providing the belt too much movement. Third, make the pockets bigger. These are cargo pants, for Christ's sake! The opening, in particular, are small/tight. I have large hands, especially by Chinese and Pakistani standards and the like, I have a difficult time inserting them into the pockets. If I had to use the pockets any more frequently, I think I'd return the pants because this is such an annoyance. Just an inch (2.5 cm) larger would go a long way to making these pants easier to get into the pockets. The cargo pockets could also be a little larger in general. Again, an inch would go a long way, I believe. Fourth, reshape the standard pockets. The standard pockets seem to come to a pronounced point at the bottom of the pocket. When I have to carry a bulkier item – such as my card holder (which is like a wallet but smaller) – it only sits about halfway into the pocket (because the pocket narrows to a point). My pocket knife and keys sit well in the pockets. Just not larger items. If the manufacturer reads these suggestions, and follows through with them, the experience of these pants would be considerably improved. Otherwise, I think these pants are perfect for their purpose. ... show more

  • Cargo Only Deal Breaker
Hi! This is really feedback for the manufacturers. I’m usually buy 32” x 30”, on site because there’s not much available for me being a 28” inseam. So having the online option to order exactly what I measure out to was concerning as certain manufacturers vary in size accuracy. Once on, I was concerned about the fit. Not quite snug but felt like a bit more room would make a difference for said wicking liner mentioned in a review. Thinking of returning it for a 33” x 28”, provided they have the size, was something to consider but though maybe the waist would be wider and not the rest or the room once worn. I think I’ll keep them as they will serve my purpose, biking in the cold or light winter hiking. I agree that the pockets can be a bit wider for even small hands. Thanks. ... show more

  • ULTRA-Swag level 7000Pantz
Color: Black Size: 32W x 34L
Love these pants. Held up well when taking some really hard falls snowboarding. Had a pair of sweatpants underneath and stayed warm and dry the whole time. Very comfortable and stretchy for work too. The style is awesome. Pockets are nice(stretch and are soft) fleece in some of the pockets aswell. Will be buying more colors when they're in stock in my size. Also the material is almost like a mixture of canvas and windpants so it doesn't usually but if you want to walk fast and have ur legs make that "zwish zwish" sound it is possible with these pants >:D ... show more

  • Worth it!
Color: Black Size: 36W x 30L
Ordered these pants for winter chores and playing with my toddler in the snow. They arrived yesterday, just in time for the blizzard. I'm in the Upper Midwest, and we got hit hard. Today I put these on to go out to shovel/snow-blow. Temperature was -10, with 25mph winds, meaning the actual feel was -45 F. Freaking cold. My legs did not notice at all. These pants protected me from the snow, the wind, and the cold, and I was out for about 1.5 hours all told clearing a 4 car driveway and double wide sidewalk around a corner lot, with snow anywhere from 4"-18". My legs were maybe a touch cool when I came in - and as soon as I entered the house they started to get uncomfortably warm. Let's talk fit. I'm 5'11", about 220. Depending on brand of pants, I'm a 36-38W, and a 31L. I bought the 36W, 30L, and they fit excellently, though I wouldn't mind a 31L option. The fleece lining makes them feel a bit tighter in the thigh than I'm used to, but if you wear a Wrangler 4-way flex, the sizing is close to identical. Flexibility was great - I could lift my knees to at least waist height. The pants feel nice, and look like regular pants - not as slim as a 4-way flex, but not as baggy looking as a pair of Dockers. Plenty of pockets, but they don't break the lines. Excellent look, feels like excellent quality. I didn't see any loose threads or fly-aways either, but I didn't do a close inspection. Well worth the money. If this company makes tac pants for non-snow conditions, I think I will buy more. Will update once I've rolled around in the snow with a toddler in them as well. ... show more

  • Great for 20 degrees and below - Good quality
I bought a pair of these Free Soldier Outdoor Softshells... ...and the Eddie Bauer Pro Lined Pants for my hikes on the Colorado Trails. 1. These FreeSoldier soft-shells repel the wind, and with a pair of thermals keep my lowers protected, with outwards temps of 15 degrees with a 30mph windchill. I cannot feel the wind on my legs. The pants run a little big since they are supposed to drape over other clothes. I didnt know that. I had to do some googling. I have not washed them yet to see how they stand up to day-to-day usage, but Im glad I bought a pair. 2. The Pro Lined Pants I bought will keep me warm with thermals down to 30 degrees with little wind. So these Free Soldier softshells were essential going up mountains trails with 30-40 mph winds. ... show more

  • Nice and warm
Color: Gray Size: 32W x 28L
Hiked with it in cold weather with no complaints. Might add a star if it turns out to be as durable as it seems—only used it for a few of weeks so far.
