I bought these without realizing that they are designed to hook to the ceiling and sill, not just to the ceiling like other cellular shades I have. This was a problem as I wanted to use them with a tiled sill and didn't especially want to drill into it. HOWEVER, after way too long mulling over whether to return them or install them, I figured out that you can just flip the plastic attachments (the ones that the cords are set in) around and rethread the cords. Now the blinds are installed to my walls and they function okay. They feel cheap compared to the other ones I have, but I also paid a lot less for them. They do look nice, though! ... show more

Instructions really do NOT explain what you need do. It should state that you need the strings TIGHT! It's very basic in saying, place these things here and place those there and tie a knot here. Where that knot is placed is VERY important! It has to be tight for them to work!! The product is very nice and works well after you figure this information out! The first time I didn't get it tight enough and they wouldn't work right. THEN I started investigating and figured out the issue. Good quality for the price and yes they work well now. ... show more

The shades look awesome and are top-down bottom-up which I love. Had to do a little troubleshooting since my window sills are marble, not wood, and I didn’t want to drill into them. Another commenter said she drilled into the wall on either side of the sill so that’s what I did here and it seems to be working well. Had to watch the install video multiple times before I got started. Getting the cords even is the trickiest part. Perfect for our newly remodeled laundry room. I wanted to be able to let natural light in, without people being able to look in. The directions were not the best to understand, but the video helped. Once we knew how to install, it was fast and easy! Looks beautiful!

I love the color, the fit, and how dark the room is. Unfortunately instructions are bad, even the contractor couldn't do it. Nor my dad. I figured it out, but it didn't stay up. Then the string broke after a few days.

This review is mostly positive. The product itself is good for the money. The installation instructions are a little shaky, but if you’re capable of reasoning out how the shades function, it shouldn’t be too hard to make things work. My biggest complaint about these shades is that they ship them with self tapping metal screws. I don’t know about you, but as a finish carpenter I’ve yet to run into metal window trim. Those screws have about 1/4 the holding power in wood that the blinds probably need. I used a 1” GRK (t15 red bit) and they held fine. The plastic clips are a little flimsy. They really shouldn’t be under much duress in normal operation, but you can tell they’re not as hard as they should be. I’d suggest hiring a technical writer to re-evaluate your instruction sheet. They’re not that tough to install, but a regular person might have a heck of a time figuring it out. Overall it’s a good product for the price. Bring your own screws. ... show more

These shades are great once you get them up but they have a much more complicated method of working than the previous top-down bottom up shades I have had. Luckily I have a live-in handyman, so he was happy to spend the day figuring them out. 362 I love top-down bottom-up shades for my urban apartment, I can let in lots of light and have privacy. I had ordered them before, but not this brand apparently. These have a string mechanism that is kind of crazy and hard to figure out. Now that they are installed I like them, but wow! hard to install. It also seems that the string mechanism might break pretty easily. ... show more

As others mentioned, the installation instructions that come with these blinds are absolute garbage. I’m still not entirely sure that I installed them correctly, but they’re working (for the time being at least). For the price point they’re not bad (but nothing phenomenal either) and I think the grey color is really pretty. I’m planning to order two more sets for my small bathroom windows. ... show more
