  • An amazing scope that saves enough time to pay for itself several times over.
Size: Dual Lens
I found this borescope performs very well and to be intuitive to use. I did not need to look at the instructions to master it, but I’ve used many others before it. This is one of the best I’ve used so far. More features are in this than in most others that all increase its versatility. Yet all are done well and are intuitive to use. From my years of experience, this is a top tier unit at a value price for all you get. It is so much better than cheaper endoscopes I previously used that plugged into my phone or were very basic. This is purpose built for the job, and it works well. Inspections are easier and faster to complete. This comes with a nice, molded case to keep it safe and its accessories together in one place. I lost a socket in the engine bay of my SUV last weekend when it fell off the extension. I could not find it until I used the borescope to get where I had no line of sight otherwise. After some hunting, and with the use of the side camera, I found it in in a frame member below the engine. Being able to adjust the light, of which there are 4 levels, helped me to get enough light to see, yet cut down on glare and over-exposure. The lost socket was a bit heavy, so I attached a length of coat hanger wire bent into a hook to the end of the scope and wrapped some tape to hold it on. A bit of pushing with the wand and I was able to move the socket it to a better position where I could lift it out with the hook. The ability to bend the very end of the wand was essential to getting in the right place to get this socket out. Without this flexible scope, there was virtually no chance of finding or getting that socket back. While this saved me a few $ and a trip to a store for a socket, one that would not match my very old Craftsman set, it really saved me a tool that belonged to my late father which has more value than the cost of the socket itself. Other than the occasional tool rescue, this tool primarily helps me evaluate what I’m getting into before I start a project. Using this has saved me more than the cost of the borescope in the first week. For example, I was contemplating removing a soffit over some kitchen cabinets to replace the cabinets with taller upper cabinets to get more storage. I removed some molding above a cabinet and drilled a 1/4” hole in the soffit to insert the borescope into. Even without the molding to cover the hole, a ¼” hole is easy to patch. I could see a drainpipe coming down and across several joists before going into the wall to head down. I was then able to inspect some wall cavities to determine how I could reroute the pipe without needing a soffit. Seems an HVAC duct is in the way, which I can move to the next stud bay. With this knowledge, I can better determine the time and materials needed to move this HVAC duct and pipe before cutting open the wall. If I decide to go through with it, I’ll be able to plan for the time and have the materials on hand to complete this part of the project without unplanned trips to the hardware store. For my side handyman jobs, I can save video and pictures to include with the job quote to show what unexpected work will be needed ahead of time so I can include the time and materials in my bid. Customers really appreciate knowing the full scope of the job ahead of time and an accurate quate. I can help customers ensure there are no big, unexpected surprises, no feeling like they are being taken advantage of mid-project. This scope can take getting wet too. If one needs to see what’s going on in a pipe. For example, see if a pipe is clogged with grease, or document the pipe kitchen drainpipes condition before and after a rental. So many renters don’t seem to care and pour their grease down the pipe. A video inspection helps when you withhold a security deposit. Or quickly locate and rescue a lost piece of jewelry from a sink trap without having to fit under a sink to take a trap apart. That was so much easier 40 years ago… There is temperature sensor at the end of the wand. I have not found a need for it myself. The description states there is a heat protection system automatically shuts down the device above 70 °C to prevent damage. If you will use this in a hot area, like near a running engine, this can let you know when the camera is getting near the 70C limit and about to shut down so you can safely pull 4out. Maybe this is useful for someone in HVAC or refrigeration too? The only difficulty I’ve had is that the wand extends horizontally about 1.5-2’ (1/2 meter) OK, but then it starts to droop under its own weight. Like a thin tape measure blade will. Thin wands bend easier but get into the smaller spaces when needed. I’m OK with this as you can always add extra support like a wire, which will make a wand thicker, but you can’t make it thinner when thin is needed. To compensate for the wand bending, I try to get it in a space low and push it along the floor of the space. Being able to tilt the end of the wand with the cameras up using the thumbwheel saves dragging the lens over the floor surface and lessens the chance of lens damage. T here is not always a floor in spaces I need to explore through. Taping a stiff wire like you find on clothes hanger to the wand, about a foot from the end, can help prevent wand sag. If you bend the end the wire closest to the handheld part out, you can use that wire as a ‘handle’ to help guide the wand too. The 5’ wand length is good for most needs. I can get about halfway down/up a stud bay or into a soffit to see most everything, especially with the 4x zoom and adjustable lighting. A longer wand or the ability to add an extension would seem useful on some occasions, but the sagging of the wand would make that difficult. It would take a think wand to work. Perhaps a short tin and long thick wand is the answer. But cost would likely kill it. Learn to work with what you have. The case, buttons and wand seem to be durable. It can take some bumps and a drop. The only improvement I can think to make would be replaceable lens covers to protect the lens. A badly scratched/damaged lens is what usually ends a scopes life for me. ... show more

  • Handy device to have around.
Size: Single Lens
This endoscope works as advertised. Nothing exceptional, but very handy for checking around my engine bay for oil seepage or leaks. I was able to identify some oil seeping under my intake manifold and a few other spots that are normally difficult to see. Photo and video resolution are only adequate, I expected a bit better given today’s tech. The camera probe is stiff but flexible, and routing it takes some practice. The articulating tip (up/down only) helps you look around obstacles. The light has four brightness levels, which makes it usable in dark or partially lit areas. Video is saved in AVI format, so I wasn’t able to upload a sample for the review. Photos were taken at the highest resolution the camera offers. Charging and file transfer use USB‑C, and it records photos, video, and audio, which is a plus. The menu system is simple and easy to navigate. It took about five minutes of tinkering to get it set up and start inspecting around the engine bay. It comes with a nice zippered storage case and a brief manual covering the basic modes and functions. For the price, I feel this kind of simple tech should cost a bit less, so the overall value isn’t great. ... show more

  • Professional-Grade Diagnostics in a 6.2mm Package—The "Cheat Code" for Engine Inspections
Size: Single Lens
The standout feature of the Elite 220° is the 0.24-inch (6.2mm) ultra-slim probe. Most consumer-grade borescopes sit at 8.0mm or 8.5mm, which can be a nightmare when trying to navigate modern, tightly packed engine bays or older spark plug holes with significant carbon buildup. This probe slides into those gaps effortlessly. The 5.3ft cable strikes the perfect balance: it is rigid enough to be pushed through a vertical pipe without coiling but flexible enough to snake around a transmission housing. The two-way articulation is controlled by a physical thumbwheel on the handle. The movement is smooth and resistive—it doesn't "snap" back, allowing you to hold a specific angle while you manipulate the cable. Being able to "look back" at the valves of a cylinder (the full 220° turn) without having to rotate the entire cable is a massive time-saver. It effectively eliminates the "blind spots" that fixed-lens cameras suffer from. The 1920P HD resolution provides exceptional clarity. In a dark cylinder, the adjustable LED ring prevents the "white-out" glare common on cheaper sensors when the camera gets close to a metal surface. You can clearly distinguish between wet oil leaks and dry carbon deposits, which is the difference between a minor fix and a total engine teardown. The IPS screen has wide viewing angles, so you can see the image even if the device is sitting on a fender while you’re leaning over the engine. The IP67 waterproof rating was tested in a coolant-flushed radiator and a used oil pan; the seal held perfectly, and the lens cleaned up with a simple microfiber wipe without scratching. The internal battery consistently provides about 4.5 to 5 hours of continuous use, which is more than enough for a full day of diagnostic work. Final Verdict If you are a DIYer or a professional who regularly performs internal inspections, this is a "buy once, cry once" tool. The combination of the ultra-slim 6.2mm probe and the 220° articulation moves this from the category of a "toy" to a legitimate diagnostic instrument. ... show more
