Very Inexpensive Alternative to FujiFilm's Prime Lenses

FujiFilm's two X-mount portrait lenses have both received very high praise, many reviewers commenting on the lovely bokeh that both lenses are capable of yielding with their wide f1.2 apertures. But the less expensive of the two lenses is $999, while the second is 50% again as expensive. I suppose that for the professional photographer -- with very high standards and the ability to write off the cost of lenses as a business expense -- the FujiFilm lenses meet his or her needs. But as much as I love the subject-background separation of shooting wide open with a portrait lens, as an enthusiast photographer, there is just no way I can justify spending that much money on a single lens. Then I discovered this inexpensive lens adapter that lets me use my manual focus Pentax lenses on my X-T1. Now, my compact, highly capable SMC Pentax-M 50mm f1.4 standard lens functions as a 76mm-equivalent portrait lens on the X-T1. And shooting wide open at f1.4 gives me pretty much the same great subject-background separation and lovely bokeh as the uber-expensive FujiFilm lenses. Voila! I just save $969!! The adapter seems well made, and mounting it to the camera -- and the lens to the adapter -- feels solid and firm. ... show more

Better than I expected.

I was a little uneasy about using an adapter with my old Pentax lenses, at first. Too many stories of lenses getting jammed with cheaper, poorly made products. No such issue with the Fotodiox. I can now mount some great old Pentax glass on my X-E1. Works great. Excellent bargain.

When I first put it on my xa3 I couldn't take any pictures or video but when I went scrolling through the settings I found one that said "shoot without lense" and set that to yes and was able to take photos and videos, so far it seems to work really well and would recommend to anyone who has old Pentax lenses laying around. ... show more

Works for some but not all

Fits my Pentax 50mm f1.7 just fine. But does not fit my Pentax 100mm f2.8. Both these lenses are standard for a Pentax ME SE and fit that perfectly but this adapter does not work for all of them apparently. It turns perfectly fine for the 50mm but the 100mm, doesn’t even turn. Upon looking further into it, it appears as though the ridge locks are too thick and not shallow enough to allow the 100mm to turn in properly. There’s a small metal lock in the lens that sits too high for the mount. Other than that, it’s wonderful on my 50mm and the button latch gives an extra feel of security. But my 100mm, it will sit in there TIGHT being held on by like 2mm of turning ability. But because of this the aperture and focal numbers are off to the right and not directly down on the camera. And I’m not sure how long I can trust it on there. ... show more

Excellent adaptor and great value

I've been using this adaptor for over one year with my old Pentax lenses. It adds about an inch to the length of the lens. The adaptor feels well built and provides a secure connection to the camera. I was worried with the low cost, but I am very pleased with this adaptor. It brings new life to old lenses. When mounted to the X-T1, you are able to take advantage of focus peaking or split image in magnified view alongside the full image. I bought this for my old Pentax Takumar 50mm f1.7 and a 70-210mm f4 zoom with macro and they work great with the adapter on my Fujifilm X-E1. I may be ordering another one for my Nikon lenses as well.

Pin snapped off within two weeks of use. I used pentax for quite some time and didn't push hard at all. Low and behold I looked in my bag and the pin was off the lens.
