Description

Mirrorless cameras aren't only revolutionary because of their compact size; they're even more versatile for mounting lenses than their full-sized counterparts! Fotodiox offers strong support for mirrorless camera platforms with hundreds of options for mounting both modern and vintage lenses. Our adapters deliver infinity focus, manual aperture control, and a sturdy build for lasting quality. Compatible Sony E-mount Cameras (including but not limited to): a7/7R/7S, a7/7R/7S II, a7/7R/7S III, a7R IV, a9, a5000, a5100, a6000, a6100, a6300, a6400, a6500, a6600, NEX-3, NEX-5/5N/5R/5T, NEX-6, NEX-7, NEX-C3, NEX-F3, QX1. Please Note: This is a manual adapter, so lens functions that rely on electronic communication with the camera body (autofocus, AE metering, image stabilization, etc. ) will be disrupted. Set your camera to “Manual’ or ‘Aperture Priority’ for metering. If camera does not release be sure to enable ‘shoot without lens’ in camera settings. We state “infinity focus allowed” because our adapters are designed to be universal which can prevent some lenses from focusing to infinity at the infinity mark.

  • Very nice adapter
First... for those who are complaining that this adapter doesn't work on their Sony NEX camera. You need to turn on the "Shoot without lens" option in the cameras settings. Also the Canon EOS lenses won't autofocus and you have no control over the lens aperture settings. You can shoot in A mode or manual only. The adapter works well but is limited due to the lack of contacts bridging the lens to the camera. Even then, you would likely have issues with a Sony camera talking to a Canon lens. My only gripe about the adapter is the tripod mount. The screws are so small that a set of jeweler screwdrivers won't fit them. It would be nice if Fotodiox would have designed the mount to be removed with ease. Other than that, the adapter is well built, fits nicely on both the camera and lens. ... show more

  • Great Adaptor For Those On A Budget
Considering the insane prices for Sony's line of NEX E-Mount lenses, I was looking for an inexpensive alternative to utilize the multiple Canon EOS lenses on my Sony FS-100. There are pros and cons, obviously, to buying something at this price point. First, let me say that the adaptor fits snugly and locks into place with no problems. It's sturdy for being mostly plastic. My Canon 75-300 lens works perfectly. For those who aren't aware, all lenses using this adaptor have to be set to manual to adjust focus. Another thing to consider is you have no real exposure control as the f-stop wheel cannot function without a direct communication with the lens. That said, on the FS-100, you can bypass this by playing around with ISO levels. Focus is crystal clear and it looks great. Since I do a lot of adventure travel style documentary filming, I find this will be perfect for the types of shots I usually shoot for b-roll. Using the Canon 18-55 kit lens, I was actually pleasantly surprised at how well this looks on the camera. This kit lens might actually work quite nicely for interview style shots as it gives a fantastic depth of field. Now... using a Canon 50mm f/1.8... I did run into an unusual snag here. When attached, the entire image was blurry and the focus ring did nothing. Strangely enough, I found that putting it back on the Canon camera and adjusting the image then switching back to the Sony maintained the image, but the focus ring was still useless, so... pain in the rear, but if you happen to find yourself wanting to use this lens, set it manually using your Canon camera to infinity before popping it on an FS-100. Also, this particular lens defaults to the f/1.8, so your image will be super bright. Again, playing around with ISO settings will resolve this. It isn't a perfect solution, but when you're on a budget and get used to things, it shouldn't be a major issue. I would just bring your Canon with you, just in case you need to change the image. My recommendation would be if you're using this adaptor, know your camera well, especially in manual modes. A great tool, but I would look elsewhere if you're an auto-focus hobbyist. ... show more

  • Decent cheap adapter. Hindered by bad internal flares
UPDATE 11.1.14 When I used this in combination with any of my mostly manual lenses I've acquired, I instantly noticed some significant light flares hitting the sensor, even when the light source was shown outside of the actual frame. I thought it was normal maybe for this type of camera? Being my first Sony camera, who was I to know. I lived with it for a while. It eventually became a real pain especially on bright sunny days. Even on overcast days, any bright light source caused some soft lens flares, usually close to a corner. It began to frustrate me. The only solution I thought was to pony up the cash for a mattebox to control the light spill. I posted the question on amazon, wondering if this was normal, and to my surprise, no one else has noticed. I thought maybe it was just my non-canon manual lenses, but even when I tried my 24-70mm L same thing happened. After an exhaustive google search I finally discovered that some lens/body adapters can create internal flaring if the inner surface is too glossy. So I put gaffers tape all over the inside and that greatly removed the flares. I then isolated these particular flares to originate from the inner ring of the adapter, closest to the sensor mount. Not the most eloquent solution, but I can live with it. Kinda bummed I had to resort to tape to fix this, and overall I am not pleased, which is why I brought my rating down to 3 stars. Nonetheless it works like it is supposed to, after some guerilla-style tweaking. Works well. I had hoped they make these things so the lens could fit closer to the mount, but perhaps engineering dictates a minimum distance to the sensor. Some of my lenses get a little stuck when attempting to remove them from this mount. Not sure if it's the lens connector or this guys fault. I have to basically jiggle it free with my hands. The mounting plate is removable via 2 very narrow screws, however that leaves 2 very tiny holes in the mount itself. I put gaff tape over them to reduce dust working it's way in. The fit to the camera body is tight, and the fit with all my lenses is snug as well. Well worth the money if you need to connect EOS lenses to your Sony camera. ... show more

  • Inexpensive adapter, build well
This adapter is nicely built and even comes with a tripod mount for larger lenses where the camera lens mount and tripod mount might be over stressed with the extra weight. The tripod mount does come off with two screws, but I don't find it interferes even when hand holding my Sony A6000. The only thing to keep in mind about this adapter is that the EOS lenses do not have manual aperture rings and you will be shooting with the lens at its maximum aperture all the time. The only way to change this is to put the EOS lens on a Canon camera set the aperture, press the aperture preview button and then spin the lens off with the camera still on. Turning off the camera even with the preview button pressed will result in the aperture going back to wide open. ... show more
