Setting this new lock with my personalized combo was so easy. I love the heaviness of the lock, that part is very sturdy. I dropped one star because the combo keys are plastic and seem a little flimsy. Not sure how long it’ll last, but we’ll see. I use this at the Gym it works well. The numbers are easy to read and it locks and unlocks well. Kind of a pain to set your own lock combo you need a Philips head screwdriver to get to the reset switch. Overall I'm happy with it.

Previously ordered different lock for gym use. After a few months, it would not open when I was trying to get dressed. Was always concerned about the "loose" feel of the numbers as they rotated. The entire mechanism felt cheap. Oddly, went 1 number off and it opened, then I purchased this one. Difference is night and day - this one is not loose at all. I bought this to use on the lockers in my gym. It is a good quality lock and works great! The numbers are very easy to see without my reading glasses and the black background keeps the bright lights in the locker room from causing a glare. Combination is very easy to change. Numbers are very easy to turn. IMPORTANT - I see some reviews that state the lock suddenly wouldn't unlock. I thought this had happened to me too, but I realized it was my mistake. The numbers are open to both sides, so if you turn it around it looks the same as the front, but the numbers will be lined up differently. So if you were to set the numbers on the front side, but then accidentally get it turned around and try to unlock it from the back side, it won't be the same code. I hope that makes sense. The way I tell the front from the back is that one side says "Fortlocks" and the other does not. So when you are unlocking it, make sure you are on the same side that you set the code on. I'm attaching two pictures of front and back without changing the numbers. You can see that the numbers on the front are different than the ones on the back. I'm not sure if that is what happened to others, but I sure thought it had happened to me until I realized it was turned around! I have actually done that a few times since and each time there is that momentary feeling of "oh no!" Then I realize I am on the wrong side. So don't break out those bolt cutters until you make sure you're on the correct side! ... show more
