I bought this tent around 18 months ago and have to say that it has thoroughly impressed not only me, but all my fellow campers too. I waited to write my review as it would be difficult to have much of an opinion on such an item directly out of the box. Over the past year or so I have really put this tent through it's paces and it has never failed to deliver. It has endured high winds, extreme cold, many, many inches of snow and even helped a friend and I survive a blizzard while stranded on an island in Long Lake, NY, This is not an exaggeration! We were kayaking and expected cold temperatures but the wind kicked up and produced white out conditions and wind chills in the low teens. We couldn't paddle in the waves so spent around 36 hours stranded there. My friend had his own tent (for practical purposes this is really a one person tent) but it was not providing much shelter during the extreme weather. Several inches of snow fell and the snow skirt performed amazingly ... banking the snow around the tent and providing much needed insulation. The wind gusts were incredible and the tent afforded us both complete protection. It was a little cramped in there but my 6ft plus friend was amazed that although he had to lay with his feet outside the inner shell, he was perfectly comfortable with his shoes off in sub zero temperatures. It endured being snow bombed from the trees above and I was genuinely stunned by how rigid the structure remained despite the relentless battering. The extra little covered area in the front is extremely useful as a place to store shoes, gear and supplies, etc - freeing up more space inside while keeping the items protected. It's a great asset for waiting out the rain too ... allowing you to see outside while staying completely dry. The tent is super easy/fast to put up and take down and very compact and lightweight. Little details like the reflective ropes and the self sealing velcro on the flaps just add to the overall quality of this product. I have slept in this tent in through pouring rains, heat, high winds, on sand, in mud, on ice and in snow and it has always kept me completely comfortable and dry :) ... show more

After several uses I'm happy with my purchase. This tent is simple, functional, enough for 1 but not 2, lightweight and reasonably priced. After MORE use I will underline that this tent is definitely only a ONE PERSON tent. Also, it's not tall enough inside for a short person like me (5'6") to stand up enough to put on a pair of pants. I have to do that sitting down. THAT has become the most annoying factor. ... show more

I’ve used this tent in the Shenandoah and in Glacier National Park. It’s easy to set up, durable and roomy. It repels rain well. It retains heat in cold and airs out with vents in warm weather. The vestibule is nice to keep your dirty boots outside the tent, but not in the elements. It fits a 6foot sleeping air mattress end to end with room for a second or just your backpack. For $80, this tent does the trick. Setup is super simple; if you screw up putting two poles through two sheaths on the tent body, maybe stay inside. The rainfly is attached by clips onto the main body with plastic buckles that I foresee breaking in the future, but are suitable for now. I used this tent with a groundsheet over the weekend doing some Winter camping and she got the job done. Inside stayed dry (thanks in part to the sold-separately tent footprint) and the vestibule awning was a super-cozy hangout by the fire. Another great use for the awning is keeping your fire prep dry and off the ground; I had about 15 pounds of twigs, batoned branches and deadfall laid on top to keep ground moisture from seeping in while getting my tinder bundle ready. I wasn't able to use the provided stakes (13 total) due to the snow and frozen ground, but a few snow anchors made with paracord and broken branches held everything in place very taut, even with gusting winds. My only issue was wind coming through under the rainfly and breezing through the main body, which was completely a setup error on my part. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase. We didn't get any snowfall while I was testing the tent, but it's been great so far. ... show more

    • Strong Design and Function - Materials a little lacking

I bought this for my son's Scouting, we used it one time over the course of two days. It went up quickly and kept us dry and warm through a thunderstorm during a Midwestern October. All condensation was on the outer shell as I had hoped and zippers held up under repeated use by my 10yr old. I did have an issue where the cross supports appeared to bend (elongate) the eyelets where they go into the tent corners. Three of the four eyelets appeared to have this issue and one was torn out because it was so tight on the pole tip as I was trying to beat the next bought of rain. Ultimately, this leaves the tent unusable for us until I repair it. I will try to find stronger eyelets that are less likely to stretch/bend. I would encourage the manufacturer to consider steel versus tin or aluminum that appears to have been used. ... show more

I purchased this tent for a hiker challenge to replace a bulkier, older tent. Our group anticipated snow on the first night of camping and I was excited to try it since I planned on using this mainly in the winter. I set it up before the trip and even with non-English instructions it was easy and straight forward. I did notice though there were several strings that were inside the tent that were getting caught in the zipper and made it hard to close/open. The first overnight use of this tent I was able to set it up easily and got the stakes in fairly easy despite frozen ground. 2 of my stakes did bend and one of the buckles to attach the rainfly broke, but those were easy fixes with supplies I had. Overall, I give this tent 4 stars due to the snags on the zipper and broken buckle. I will be using this tent again for more winter camping. ... show more
