Unpredictable at best I use this professionally it may or may not tone also it will not tone through splitters. It will turn off immediately if it comes on at all. Have to use a pencil eraser to clean battery contacts. The barrel sleeve is very weak and will fall off and end up bending the stinger

In reviewing the marketplace before buying this tool I was disappointed with the selection until I found the Fluke series. First off I actually recognized a brand rather than the many house brand tools that seem to saturate this narrow segment of the cable tool world. The next nearest competitor to the Fluke series was in my opinion the Klein Tools models. I purchased the PTXN8 kit without the 8 room test remotes to give me the best value for the money in the long run. I don't personally need to test 8 rooms yet but wanted that option for the future. Pros: Up to 8 room tracking Many accessory options in either one kit or as add on to an existing kit Visual and audible confirmation at both ends of a test loop Cons: Case is a bit cheap inside with foam cutouts that show wear quite quickly Rather loud beep For my use I rejected the Klein Tools for two reasons; one non replaceable battery and only four room testing at one time. ... show more

I install satellite dish systems, constantly tracing coax cables every day. I have been on a constant search for a reliable cable mapper for large home with On Q panels or lots of rooms to connect and track down. At first, the ID caps worked great, I was excited to finally find a mapper that actually worked and identified the locations correctly. Within the first week I started having trouble with one of the ID caps, number 8 would show up as number 1, So I stopped using it. Soon, more and more of the ID caps stop working correctly, sending back the wrong number and costing me time and money and also frustrating me. Now it works well as a single line pocket toner, but you can get a reliable pocket toner for 15$ For me, I would not purchase this again, ever. I would not suggest it for professional use. It may be ok for home owner use, maybe one of those things you buy and only use once or twice in a lifetime, other than that it just sits on a shelf in the garage, in infinite brand new condition. If you are a professional, looking for an industrial tool to use on a daily basis.......... keep searching. ... show more

Very nice and works very well. Some users complain that it gives the wrong number I have not had this problem however if you’re going through junctions or branches it will give a different number because of the resistance difference works very well very pleased with this.

This tool is great. The option to check more than one cable at a time helps verifying 8 packs quick. And the audio beeb is loud and clear. (telecom hubs are realy noisey.)

People been complaining in comments that these don't work right but i love mine. As a Spectrum Field Tech i use this on everyday jobs. They conveniently fit onto a 4way splitter and inside of my Toughbuilt bags. (Which are awesome btw!)
