  • Reliable and compact - Strongly recommend
Color: 100W
I've been using the FlexSolar S100 foldable solar panel for about a month now after a prolonged power outage in my area due to a storm. It has been a lifesaver for emergency power. It charges very efficiently. The USB ports do actually support fast charging and are very quick when exposed to direct sunlight, and it still charges (though slower) in partial shade. It is lightweight and folds up very neatly in the included carrying bag. The construction quality feels solid - no flimsy hinges or cheap fabric. Also the included DC to DC cable has a number of useful attachments. I even got it to charge my laptop directly. It's a really reliable and compact source of power during this outage and I would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a portable/emergency charging solution. ... show more

  • A good panel, lightweight and compact
Color: 100W
Pros 1) This panel is lightweight and folds into a notebook-sized form factor. 2) The included case is very nice, is padded, and fits the folded panel and cable easily. 3) The included cable has multiple connector types and seems well made. 4) The built-in USB A and C ports are convenient and easy to access. 5) It has a quality feel to it. Disclaimer: I have used my panel and it works well, but long term durability is unknown. Cons 1) Because of its many folding panel pieces, there is no easy way to angle this towards the sun. You can try to prop things under it, but that is awkward. I mostly leave it flat on the ground which means I lose some solar efficiency. This is mainly a concern early or late in the day when the sun is low. 2) The included cable connects to the panel via a DC5521 connector and has 4 connector types at the other end -- DC5521, DC7909, Anderson and XT60. But there is not an MC4 connector, which is the "standard" solar panel connector type. As such, you lose some flexibility depending on your needs. 3) An update after more use: the orange part that holds the circuitry for DC and USB output can get quite hot under high DC loads (60+ watts). By itself this isn't a problem, but it could impact long term durability. I suspect that the heat is related to using thin wires to carry the load as well as the plastic housing being a poor heat sink. Overall thoughts I also own a Renogy 100 watt panel. It is twice the weight and much more bulky than this FlexSolar panel. Even with the limitations I mention above, I love this panel. It is so compact and convenient! ... show more

  • Good solar panel but rain causes it to fail
Color: 100W
It works well. But beware with outdoor installations that are exposed to rain. The USB power connector is the weak point, tends to corrode, causing the unit to fail. After cleaning the USB port pins, it works again - but cleaning is a hassle - especially if the installation is high or inaccessible. . ... show more

  • Flexsolar S100 Foldable Solar Panel Review Flexsolar S100 Foldable Solar Panel Review
Color: 100W
Performance: Promised as 100W, this panel is an efficient units in reality almost achieving 100% of its rating . When the weather was nice and bright, I evaluated both outputs individually: DC Output: Achieved 90W, which shows great efficiency. USB-C Output: Achieved 56W, a great score when it comes to direct device charging. Portability & Usability: Overall, the product is robust and comfortable to carry thanks to its included carry bag, as for mounting, I used my car window, and the angle was great for capturing the sun rays. Conclusion: I am completely satisfied with this solar panel, and the output capacity is rather reliable. Though the unit is not lightweight, it won’t be an issue when you need power more than lightness. ... show more

  • Great solar panel for recharging cpap batteries on river trip
Color: 100W
I used this solar panel to recharge my cpap batteries on a recent whitewater rafting trip. Luckily we had sunny layover days so that I could get a full day of charging. I was a little skeptical at first since the panel was so compact and flexible, but it worked great. I found that the best way to use it (thanks to the pictures in the description) was to hang it from my tent. I used the corner tie outs on the tent fly to suspend the panel facing the sun. The included corner carabiners made this easy to do. Every so often I would reposition it on another part of the tent to get the best angle to the sun. I was able to fully recharge my cpap batteries from 6% to 100% in the space of about 6-8 hours. The panel folds up into a very manageable carry case that fit easily in my raft dry box. I was very happy with how this solar panel worked. ... show more

Color: 100W
I got this panel to run my star link mini, yes, I did have to get a different cable to make it work but I can take it anywhere I need it and use it as long as there is sun light. it's a nice compact panel that you can put in a backpack if you need to

  • If a Warranty Claim is made in the forest and no one is around to hear it...
Color: 100W
I bought this as a Christmas Gift and our family used it for a camping trip a few days after New Year's. At first all as well, it worked surprisingly well. It did not get 100 Watts or really anywhere near (highest I ever saw was 50 nearing 60 Watts) but I'm sure that was mostly the angle of the sun where we were: we were camped in a slight valley and only got good sun for a few hours each day. It charged our phones, my Switch, and even another tiny little battery bank reasonably well. I could fully charge my Samsung S22+ in less an hour or so with good sunlight. Here's the thing, after about a week of use I attached to our battery bank, an Anker SOLIX, positioned it it as best I could in the sunlight, and left it to charge. I came back and my battery bank hadn't charged at all. Then I noticed the red light which indicated the panel was receiving solar energy and capable of output had gone dark. I looked at it and didn't see any obvious damage. Checked everything over a million times. Finally unscrewed and opened it up: blown capacitor, black goop all over the mainboard. This thing is so chintzy on the inside, barely held together with crap solder and the flimsiest of wires. But hey, if it just kept working, I wouldn't care what materials were being used. Some might say "well it was cold out and you used an electronic device in the cold". Yup, it was about 30 degrees F, freezing for sure. Here's the thing though, this thing is very clearly advertised as something you can take CAMPING. Sometimes when I'm out camping it gets COLD. The capacitors in none of my other electronic devices blew. A couple things like my phone said they were going to charge slower due to temps but nothing but this solar panel gave up the ghost on me. What happens next is the reason why I'm writing a one star review. I don't review products in general whether I like them or I don't. But this was crazy. I emailed them at their contact email found on their website. I then filled out their support form. I then emailed them again. Then I called them. This was over the course of three weeks. Finally I emailed them and said, "Look, I have tried three different ways to get a response from you guys and I've been entirely ignored. If I don't here back from you I'm leaving a one star review for you product." Thankfully Amazon refunded me entirely despite being well outside the return window. To this day I still have not received a response from FlexSolar. This solar panel works pretty well, honestly. But if it fails on you good luck getting a response from FlexSolar regarding that one year warranty it supposedly has. ... show more

  • It works close to posted specifications
Color: 100W
Initial tests show promising results with the 100 watt rated unit pushing 70 watts into an Eco Flow River. I did see some large charge fluctuations initially and was able to trace this instability to the coaxial power connection on the side of the panel / included plug. I cleaned the plug with a paper towel and alcohol and all the intermittent operation observed earlier has disappeared and only consistent operation has been observed. I also have a Victron smartsolar 75/15 charge controller that I can add inline and have been able to achieve about 80W charge power with the same panel but that's it, nothing more. For how small the panel is, I am happy and it will suit my needs as long as it continues to work. I've had the panel in use so far for a week. I'll update if I see any performance/ operational issues in the future. ... show more
