  • FlexiSnake is my hero!! :D
I tried every drain cleaner known to mankind in an attempt to clear my bathtub's drain and nothing worked. Seriously dudes, NOTHING worked. After reading the reviews on this I figured what the heck, let's give it a try. I wore elbow length rubber gloves and a medical face mask; I was ready for battle (I highly recommend you do this as well because the splash back is REAL and it smells of demon butt). After shoving it down the drain just once the most god-awful-looking sea monster of a stinky hair clump came out. I did it about a dozen more times until no more hair monsters came up. I turned on the faucet and that sound of water finally draining through the pipes was like angels singing the Hallelujah choir. That pipe is CLEAR, my dudes! I can finally take showers again without feeling like I'm standing in a goopy stank pond! ... show more

  • Works Perfectly If You Use It Properly
After reading both the positive and negative reviews about this product, I decided to spend the seven bucks and give it a shot. My showers were rapidly turning into unwanted baths, and after five minutes I'd be standing in ankle-deep water. I'd tried Liquid Plumr and Drano, and they seemed to help a bit, but I couldn't find anything that would clear the drain completely. After receiving the FlexiSnake, I was dubious. It is essentially a piece of flexible wire wrapped in hook velcro. It feels pretty flimsy, and I was worried that I'd made a bad purchase. I gave it a shot anyway, and fed it down the drain of the tub. I was amazed at what it pulled out! Gobs of hair from what was probably years ago, over and over again. I kept inserting it until just a little past when it stopped, and kept pulling out more and more gunk. When all was said and done, I had a clean, free flowing drain. A couple suggestions/notes: - If you have the ability to remove the drain cap to make the drain opening as unobstructed as possible, do it. This will make the job a lot less time consuming. - The FlexiSnake was only about 14" inches long. If the obstruction is deep inside the drain, you'd be better off disassembling the pipe at the J-Bend and getting at the clog from there. - I've used this on four separate occasions, and have had success with it each time. Clean it after each use by pulling off the hair from the FlexiSnake and rinse it under hot water. I see no reason that this can't be used over and over again, with proper cleaning. Again, it's just like hook velcro, so cleaning it is just like pulling stray hairs from that, just on a larger (and ickier) scale. I had no problem cleaning it after each use, so I'm not quite sure why other reviewers had such trouble. - You could certainly buy a professional drain auger for at least three times the price, and it would get the job done as well. However, if you don't know what you're doing with that, you have the potential to damage the bathroom fixtures or pipes. A hard metal snake can easily scratch and ding drain rings and sinks. An easy 5 star rating for me. ... show more

  • Hair clog tool: Excellent when drain cover removal is not a (practical) option
The drain cover on my shower is **set in**! Contractor slathered some cement-like mixture all around the top of the cover (holes aren't not covered, but I'd have to chip it out...probably w/ power tools of some kind). I.e. There was no way to get anything larger than this in through the grates to remove the hair I could see, and was making the shower 'flood' after a minute or two. It's like pipe cleaner, but w much more abrasive plastic bristles. Not sure why they picture it looped, as it won't help anyone like that. It needs to be mostly straight, and then it will bend (maybe explaining the photo) as needed in the pipes. This is relatively light-weight in every sense, though. It's a precision instrument of sorts, designed to get at what other physical--non chemical-- tools can't. I had great results after using it to pull out a bunch of hair once, and plan to get more. After 5-7 pipe scrape-outs, the bristles were completely saturated w/gunk. Water finally was going down the way it should. Conceivably, you could do serious cleaning and re-use. But at this price, one (or two) tools per clog seems easier/cleaner, etc. ... show more

  • Oh My Gosh!!!
I bought one of these because the tesimonial reviews and I thought, with 6 kids I know we have slow drains. So I break it out on a Saturday night and started with my bathroom sink. OH MY GOSH! Disgustingly amazing. In 2 seconds I pulled out a massive hair/soap clog. It was truly amazing and so gross! I went to work on the other bathroom drains and they weren't nearly as amazing or as quick but I pulled a bunch of dried hair out of the kids' tub. So after 5 drains, I had my fun. I've spent a small fortune on "drano" type products that never seem to work. I won't buy them again. I was even so amazed I shared the nasty pic on Facebook and didn't think twice about somebody judging me. Get this. Be prepared to throw it away as you're not going to want to clean it. ... show more

  • Seeing is believing!
They say a picture says a thousand words... I was skeptical despite the glowing reviews people gave this product. It's been featured in many an internet article. Clearly nothing could be easy to use and clean the drain that was $6 in price. No way. But I bought it because well, it's only $6, so if it doesn't work well, I'm not out too much money. It arrived and I immediately used it on my shower drain, one that constantly needs to be plungered because it constantly gets clogged. I pulled out this mass of hair the first sweep through, and the shower runs so much better now, it's not even funny! Cleaning this product isn't exactly "easy", the instructions recommend using a stiff (read: wire) brush, though I was able to get most of the stuff off it with some soap and hot water. I now have the urge to clean every drain in my house with one of these! I feel it's paid for itself just in one use, probably by the time I've cleaned out all of the drains, it'll be owing me money. You can't beat the price point, plus the fact that it works and does what it's supposed to WELL. Granted it's not an actual drain snake, so it can't get really far down into your pipes, and if you have a serious clog it's likely you'll need something stiffer and more powerful, but for getting all of the hair and muck out of your pipes that pouring bleach or Drano down it won't get? It's worth every penny. ... show more
