  • One person can install this on a 9' high garage - takes prep & patience
Style: 1-pack-White
One person can install this. My lessons, 1. Use a laser level to mark all lines. 2. Cut a 2x2 to exactly 4' length or use a 4" drywall square to mark the second row and get it sufficiently parallel. 3. Keep the lag bolts slightly loose maybe 1/8 turn loose to help align 4. Assemble all 4 racks on the ground - the screws will not align without some light hits with a mallet here and there. Make the screws snug. 5. Use a sturdy step ladder as a fulcrum- set ladder to almost the rack height i.e. 6 - 7 ft above ground. 6. Wear heavy, grippy gloves. Gradually raise and turn/twist the whole 4 x 8 rack panel on to the ladder and then on to the hanging metal brackets - immediately put long construction screws (#8 x 3") into through the holes to stabilize until you put the proper machine screws in. This is a heavy lift (40 - 50 lbs above head) but using the top of the ladder as a fulcrum makes it easier. All in all with some careful strategy, slow and steady movements, plenty of breaks i was able to do it alone. However, i'd strongly recommend having another strong helper, it's a lot safer that way. ... show more

  • Great Storage Solution
Style: 1-pack-Black
1. Instructions for installation are clear and concise. You can do the installation by yourself, but it's much easier if you have a partner to assist. 2. How your garage is constructed and whether you mount the rack parallel or perpendicular to the beams may pose a few challenges. My support trusses are exposed so it made the installation easier since I didn't need to search for the studs. However, spacing of the studs posed a problem as the weren't spaced to support the placement of the anchor points for the rack. I mounted the rack perpendicular to the studs and the distance between the studs was 114 inches (if your mounting a rack that is 96 inches long you see the problem. 3. Recommended solution if your mounting perpendicular to the studs: Screw a 2 x 4 or 3 x 6 board to the studs parallel to the wall and a 2nd board of the same length the width of your rack to the support studs. Note: Don't mount the vertical supports of the rack flush to the wall. Install them a few inches out to give you room to attach the mounting hardware. Use that starting point to measure for the width. Suggest using truss head screws of an appropriate size to secure the boards to the studs. 4. I was not happy with the shipping. This item shipped from Perris, CA, to Las Vegas, NV, via FedEx ground, a distance of 251 miles. I ordered the item on 7.13.23 and was provided a tracking number. The item wasn't shipped from Perris until 7.19.23 and I received it on 7.20.23. Seven days to ship a 71 pound item 251 miles via FedEx ground??? One of 3 things must have occurred: 1) the seller didn't deliver it to FedEx promptly (I suspect this), 2) it sat in the FedEx warehouse for 5 days (unlikely, but possible), or 3) or FedEx has a new mode of ground transport called FedEx Snail Express :). I appreciated the free delivery (many vendors charge for shipping) but, the delivery time was unreasonably long considering the distance involved. ... show more

  • Finished Garage = Not for the everyday DIY’er
Style: 1-pack-Black
Don’t normally leave reviews on Amazon, but given the effort it took me to do this today by myself, I wanted to caution folks that have fully finished garages before purchasing. The good -This is a great product. It is everything you are looking for if you are looking at this page. Sturdy, “simple”, and really saves space in your garage. It’s exactly what I wanted to be honest. The bad - I have a fully finished garage with very high ceilings, as you can see from the picture. No beams visible. It took me over 2 hours to work out the measurements to get the anchor bars ready, then a bit more time to hang them (things in the ceiling were not exactly square so studs ran away a little in 2 places). I also had the right tools to do the job which aren’t listed in the directions - 4ft level, impact drill for the lag bolts, socket wrench and vice grip pliers for the round top bolts and nuts , ratchet screw driver for the 25+ Allen top bolts. Long story short, this is not an easy installation. If you are not at least a hard intermediate to advanced skill level with measuring, leveling, and squaring.. I would definitely make sure you do all the research to really feel comfy with this before purchasing. It will take at least a few hours. ... show more

  • Solid Product
Style: 1-pack-Black
Once done with installation I am very happy. Directions were just ok, but it's pretty straight forward how it goes together, and up. Marking the rafter locations, and hanging the mounting brackets was the worst part of it. Never particularly easy with sheet rock covering them like anything else. Took about 4 hours start to finish by myself using two 8 foot step ladders. (Garage height is 9 feet) Definitely recommend having an impact drill/socket adaptor for installing the mounting brackets. Keep in mind you're working over your head the entire time, so it isn't easy work. Very satisfied. ... show more

  • Just squeaked in above my garage door opener
Style: 1-pack-Black
A truly epic invention for high garages. Now I have 32sqft of surface to pile up all my christmas junk and ignore for 11 months of the year. This only fit over my garage door rail (when taking into account the lip on my garage door - don't forget that when you're measuring) but it's improved my garage so much. Love this product - such great value, really easy to install (though I had to use pulleys and rope to get the base up as I was by myself) ... show more
