  • Works better then expected
Model: AD5X
Absolutely could not be happier with this printer it was super easy to set up took about 20 minutes to put everything together. After it was together I ran the installed prints and all four came out perfect no stringing no miss feed. I have ran a 33 hour print and it came out perfect the build plate is easy to remove and reinstall and even easier to clean. I will say if you buy this you will need to print a filament poop catch tray if not you will have a big mess. 10 out of 10 would recommend buying!!! ... show more

  • Excellent choice for 1st 3d printer
Model: AD5X
New to 3d printing and this has been an awesome experience. I made mistakes that were my fault and damaged the extruder, but was able to mostly repair. If you are thinking about getting into 3d printing i think this is a machine you should consider. If you plan on song alot of multi color or multi material printing. Look into the creator 5 series. So far zero regrets except I'm driving my family crazy with the constant printing. I'm a bit addicted ... show more

  • Not bad but far from perfect.
Model: AD5X
The AD5X is a really great printer with a couple of fairly large annoyances. There is definitely a lot to like but the few things to dislike can really taint the experience for sure. The things I like Setup. Setup is probably the easiest I have ever had over the years. My first printer took me half a day to set up. This printer takes less than 10 minutes. Build quality. Build quality is really good. Most of the printer is made of metal and the parts that are made of plastic are of really good quality as well. Print quality. You would actually be pretty hard pressed to tell the difference between this and a printer that cost 10x more. Once you get your slicer dialed in print quality is top notch. Modularity The system comes in it's most basic form. If you want an enclosure you add it. If you want a camera you add it. If you want a LED light you add it. I actually really like this way of doing things and wish they would have went that direction with their new printers. Things I don't like. The hardware. Ok, so the thing about 3D printers is that they are going to need fairly frequent repairs. The AD5X seems to not really be built with that in mind. Some ribbon cables are actually glued into place. Replacing parts on any 3D printer isn't a matter of IF but when. Glue should never be used under any circumstances to hold ribon cables/headers into place EVER! Software The built in software isn't bad but in this day and age there is really no reason it shouldn't be open source. The closed nature of the software is really frustrating. Not being able to enter Klipper on my computer to access the 3D printer remotely is very annoying. I feel like flashforge really tried to newby proof this printer in all the wrong ways. The locked down nature of this printer prevents you from making changes to things like the amount of purge per filament changes and flashforges settings are far to aggressive leading to a lot of filament loss. Recently I printed out a model that was about four inches tall. There was a lot of filament changes for sure but the end total purge amount 1.3 KG meaning that nearly a roll and a half was waisted in purging and that doesn't include the prime tower. Letting the user have access to purge settings would allow experience users reduce waste. I get that they want to make this printer as easy to use as possible but why not have an advanced settings area for experienced users? Filament runout. While filament runout works perfectly (the print will stop). The extruder gets jammed every single time and ends up throwing an error. What happens is a small piece of filament will remain inside the extruder and it will fail to pull in the new filament 100% of the time. There are ways to fix it without loosing your print but it's still frustrating. And that is that. Is it a good printer? It's kind of a mixed bag. On one had yes but on the other I think flashforge missed the mark in some key areas. Is it good value for money? I actually do think so. It gives anyone the opportunity to dip their toes into the world of colored 3D printing with an all in one design that just works. The printer is relatively quiet too. All and all it's still pretty great! ... show more

  • Great product from new user
Model: AD5X
Been using this almost non stop since buying. A little disappointed at the amount of waste it produces when doing multi color printing. As a beginner I have had to do a lot of research on how to work it. Still no idea how to or what the flash forge (operational program) is capable of

  • Pretty sweet
Model: AD5X
Ok, so granted I've only had it for a couple of days. And my purpose is 70% personal with 30% potential money making. I've been running this mostly nonstop like 16 hours. My impression: 1-you have to be mechanically inclined 2-you have to be computer savvy 3-watch every video on setup that you can find before you order, don't stop watching until you're comfy with it. 4-the smell is a thing. Get an enclosure with a vent (hint). How toxic? I dunno, but get a vented enclosure. 5-there lots of compatible filaments, get more than you think you need. 1kilo=2.2# and it's a standard. You'll probably go thru more black than anything. 6-lastly, don't get discouraged. These continually bounce around on wifi. I did wifi for firmware update only, I USB my prints and avoided the whole mess. You can put your creations on a jump drive too. Printer remembers many prints for reprinting. Overall, until this fails I've got nothing to complain about. I got the ext warranty because.... I'm really feeling great creating physical useful stuff. ... show more

  • Stopped working after 5 weeks – no warranty support
Model: AD5X
We purchased this printer in December as a Christmas gift for our 12-year-old, who was extremely excited to get into 3D printing. Unfortunately, the printer worked for about five weeks before failing and becoming completely unusable. The printer began throwing an E0007 error (“Extruder T0 not heating as expected”) mid-print and has not worked since. The nozzle stalls around 205°C, the front fan does not spin during heat-up, and the error consistently triggers. After extensive troubleshooting, we discovered that the nozzle only reaches target temperature when the front cover is removed, which strongly suggests a defective or marginal hotend/heater assembly. We spent hours and days troubleshooting via email only with customer support (there is no phone support). We followed all instructions, re-seated cables, confirmed proper silicone sock installation, and provided proof of purchase and serial numbers. Despite this, both the manufacturer and Amazon refused to help because the printer was outside a 30-day return window. The company confirmed they only guarantee functionality for 30 days, meaning a several-hundred-dollar product has effectively no meaningful warranty. Once that window closes, you are on your own—even if the product fails shortly after. This was my child’s main Christmas gift, and it failed just weeks later with no support. We now have to spend additional money replacing it with a product that actually stands behind its hardware. Buyers beware. If you value reliability, warranty coverage, or customer support, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. ... show more
