  • Long review with what I learned as a first time 3d printer buyer! Great machine!
Model: AD5X
I have really been enjoying this printer. I don't have much to compare it to but I think it is pretty easy to use, set up and I got it at a great deal ($339), which is a fantastic price for such a great printer! I have put almost 100 hours on it in 4 days and have had zero problems. I did a ton of research before I bought it because this is my first printer and I wanted to know what I was getting into. I would recommend doing the same, there is a lot to know and understand about using the software, settings and even things like, don't touch the build plate with your fingers or your prints might not stick and then the science behind why that is true and things like that. 3D printing in mass isn't a game for the casual observer. It takes time, understanding, and patience. Yes, you can do simple things easily but if you want to do a variety of things, it takes a little bit of reading and watching videos to understand what you are doing. Not hard, just takes a little learning. It's a TON of fun though! One thing I heard about these printers is they drop connection often when using wireless. It has an ethernet port and I hardwired it to my network and haven't had a single issue with connectivity. I didn't even bother with wireless setup because I'd rather have stability and assurance and I was placing it close to a switch where I could easily connect it so it worked out. I don't believe it is the fastest printer in the world but the prints come out really smooth and pretty. 3D printing isn't for the impatient. That being said, it isn't what I'd call slow. The software (Orca) gives you an estimate of the time it will take and has always been really accurate at hitting those estimates. The printer is almost all metal with only some housings made of plastic along with the reel spindles and the filament guides being plastic so it will hold up really well over time. Even the screen housing is metal, which I love! The first thing I would do, and I am glad I did it really early on, is get a cool plate. Biqu makes the Glacier and Frostbite, which seem to be the standard (the Frostbite is the Bambu equivalent of the SuperTack plate, if that means anything to you). I bought a different brand that has the same specs as the Frostbite and it has been a game changer at reducing overall print times and the adhesion of the prints. Much less maintenance on the cool plates vs. the standard PEI plate that comes with the machine. The standard PEI plate works just fine though. Just make sure you care for it properly. This can be an expensive hobby so watch out! It is also super fun and satisfying! Overall, this is a tough workhorse of a machine that was a great value and prints great quality! It is not enclosed so it is limited in the types of filament you can use so just do your homework on what you want to print and what open vs. enclosed printers can do and you will be good! Another tip: Research what to print first (waste shoot and a scraper) and you will make your life much easier! Again, do your homework and don't just assume you'll walk into it and print stuff and never have issues. Enjoy!!!! ... show more

  • Fast and good print quality with multiple colors
Model: AD5X
This is a great printer, ive had no real issues. I came from an older neptune 3 pro so the speed is the first thing that surprised me. The multicolor system works well, ive had 0 issues with the IFS aside from some brittle PLA breaking inside the tube, but that was easy to fix. The print quality was the 2nd thing that surprised me, the layer lines are very fine with the default slicer settings and with pla look great. The volume of the printer without the enclosure can be noisy especially with zhop enabled and the bed pulling down you get this click each time. Also the color swap wiper can be noisy, it clangs 2-3x for each purge (2 per color change). The downside of multicolor printing is the time and filament waste. Unfortunately any printer that uses an MMU/AMS style color switcher has this issue, expect to 'poop' more filament than the print takes if only printing 1 object with lots of color swaps. For the money i dont think anything else on the market compares for the speed and included features. I dont think its perfect, you still get what you pay for, but this delivers above its price imo. ... show more

  • Nice printer
Model: AD5X
We previously had a Flash Forge printer that we use quite a bit . We have been satisfied with it. So we decided to purchase this one so that we could print files using 4 colors in an individual item. I think we have had it about a month now. We have been printing with it and it has been working well. However we have not printed a single item using four colors. One reason is the lack of availability of four color files from the site we use to purchase files. Also the computer we had been using with the former printer didn’t have windows OS but it was fine. It took a minute to discover this printer needs Windows OS ( you may have other choices). We purchased a new laptop in order to use the printer. So setting up the operation has been expensive but hope we can get going soon. I would to take opportunity to say we that flash forge brand filament appears to work very well. I purchased some other brand filament that had a Black Friday deal and it was not working well with this printer, it made a mess. ... show more

  • Get it!
Model: AD5X
I haven't run into any problems. I love the automatic feed feature. Build plate is nice. Although there were a couple of prints where the color didn't print out but that could have been a file error. I'm watchful of it now with other prints. I like the AD5M and now having the multicolor option is a bonus ... show more

  • Wonderful Machine
Model: AD5M
This is an amazing machine! Bought for a teen to get started with and it’s been wonderful. The slicing software is simple to download and use, the filament is simple to load and it prints nearly flawlessly every time! Would buy again, no questions asked.

  • Good for first timers getting into 3d printing
Model: AD5X
First time with a 3d printer, this thing is awesome! Took about 20 minutes from the box to begin printing, I did a bit of research online so I would not be too lost in starting this hobby. The printer is great for a beginner, got to put 180 hours on it the first 3 weeks we've had it and its plugin' away as I write this. Had 3 little mishaps all due to user error but that's how you learn! Its fans aren't too noisy and the build quality is great, very easy to get started so get started and get one! You'll enjoy it. ... show more
