Very good chair for the money.

My five star rating is relative to price. You will not mistake this for a $1000 chair, but for the price, it's pretty decent. The chair arrived well packed, zero damage, and all the parts were all there. In keeping with some other posts, it probably took me 45 minutes to unpack and assemble. Also in keeping with other posts, the arms were the hardest, mostly in getting the bolts lined up and threaded. Everything else was relatively easy. Instructions were at an absolute minimum, but adequate if you take the time to lay out the parts and compare them to the parts diagram. The chair does not recline into a bed, but the recline angle is more than adequate for me. I actually like the release handle with positive stops. You don't have to use your abs to hold the chair in a given position. Padding is adequate for comfort, but it is not a "cushy" chair. The height of the seat was just fine for me, but I can see it being a problem for people with mobility issues as it is low. Looks, again relative to price, are quite good. It's a very nice looking chair. Unless it develops issues, I would buy it again. ... show more

Simple recliner. Very comfy.

Shopping around town almost all the recliners I see are giant chairs with massage features and cup holders and power this-or-that... I wanted a simple recliner and this fits the bill. You sit in it. Slip the ottoman into position. Put up your feet. Relax. Ahhh. The foam cushioning is deep. There's a lever that's almost hidden on the right side. Pull it out and you can slip the back's angle back and forth. Let the handle go and the chair back locks into the new position (there's something like 8 to 10 notches on the locking rail). The chair's base is on a sort of lazy-susan. You can turn the chair in any direction with little effort. But it won't spin freely like many office chairs. Meh - you don't need to spin this chair. (Jan 26, 2021) I wound up applying a little silicone lubricant to the plastic "bearings" on the upper ring and the chair now spins smoothly and quietly. Chair is not heavy. I had no trouble flipping it around during assembly. Both the chair and ottoman and sliders on their base that allows them to slide smoothly on my hardwood floor. I don't have any carpets so I don't know how easy it is to slide them around on carpets. So its comfortable and has multiple positions. Anything wrong with it? A few things. 1. I would like for the back to recline another 30 degrees or so. The furthest it will go back is pretty nice for a light nap... but it would be nicer if it went back just a bit more. 2. Assembly is a bit of a hassle. I strongly recommend assembling the ottoman first. That will use up some of the bolts and washers and it won't be so confusing figuring out what bolt you need for the various steps in the chair assembly. The chair assembly isn't TOO bad except for Step One. That's where you have to insert bolts that keep the seat attached to the back. The tricky part is that when you try to line up the bolt holes the cushions get in the way. You have to press on the back with one hand, press on the seat with one hand and, when the bolt holes line up, insert a bolts with your 3rd hand. Yeah... that's not easy. I wound up using a knee to sort of move the seat into the right spot. This step would be MUCH easier if there was somebody to give you a hand for a couple of minutes. This step is where you use the supplied wrench. Holds on to one end of the bolt while you tighten the other end. The rest of the assembly can be done by one person without too much trouble. The instructions are in picture diagram form and aren't too hard to follow. The various bolts are hard to tell apart on the instructions. If you do the ottoman first then there's less confusion. 3. The skin looks nice. It's feels good... and it feels VERY thin. It's still in perfect shape after a week of usage but I suspect it might not last a long time. If it splits I'll update this review. A great chair with value

My new chair was delivered today, as expected, nothing like a fast delivery service; thanks Amazon. After finishing my chores around the yard I finally unpacked the chair and loose pieces for assembly. I found a few loose bolts and washers in the box but nothing was lost as the remaining fasteners were still in their plastic bag. Assembly was a snap with both the foot rest and chair. The chair is virtually completely assembled, less two bolt that secure the back to the seat and the two arm rest (2 bolts each side). Instructions were very clear to show which fasteners and washers go where and assembly was pretty simple. I'm impressed with the leather, it looks and feels great and not one flaw in the material. The chair is very comfortable but firm, not as cushy as I thought it might be but a big improvement over my old chair for sure. The reclining mechanism is functional and works great, a very simple mechanism, less chance of failure. I rate the quality and value pretty high on this chair, for the price I don't think you can go wrong. ... show more

I finally opened these boxes to set up the last pieces in my new apartment. The furniture is easy to put together with easy steps to follow. Unfortunately, there was no quality control inspection on these 2 chairs I ordered because they should have been sold as "irregular" or "slightly damaged" items. Pre-drilled screw holds were not completed or not done at all, and on the pre-assembled portion that came already put together screws were missing, and there are splitting wood around screws that the manufactures put in, or the wood is just too dry to take the pressure. If you take pride in the workmanship (and the design of the chair is nice), then you are going to make sure it's done right. Does "Flash Furniture" really mean you just throw something together as quickly as possible and not care about the quality of the work going out that represents you? ... show more

A Short Person's Chair with Compound Problems

After struggling for almost an hour to assemble the chair (only 6 bolts!), I sat down in it. My knees almost hit my chin -- the seat cushion was way too close to the floor. (and I'm only 5'10"!). Other issues: (1) the swivel was very tight -- it took a lot of effort to turn it , (2) one of the bolts and washers had fallen out of the chair before I even took it out of the box, (3) finding the small package of parts was like a challenging Easter egg hunt, (4) the cheap "wrench" included was not the correct size to secure the two nuts, (5) the assembly instructions were only pictures and didn't really match up with the steps I had to use -- maybe I'll never complain about Ikea's assembly instructions again! All in all, this was a total disaster and waste of time and effort. Getting it out of the box, assembled, disassembled, and put back into the box took almost 2 hours. Thank goodness for free returns with Amazon Prime -- and timely pickup service by UPS! I'm now free of this monster. ... show more

Here we have this beautiful chair! It looks so lovely in my dad's house. ..., We have never used it for its original reason . See, I bought this for my mom back in late Oct/early Nov. Well, life happens and things changed. No Mom anymore... The box sat in my dad's house for months. I guess it was just another ultimatum to him. Well, My dad decided to set the chair up today. Here we are in mid-late February...(Hence the late review). He sat on it and said it was quite comfortable. The beige color was neutral enough to go with the rest of decor. Arm rest style is compatible with a contemporary or traditional style. Just the right height to get in and out of. He's 5'9" fyi. The reclining function worked easily. This company is wonderful to deal with. They are honest and compassionate and I am very grateful. They deliver a quality product at a great price. Will do business with them again. ... show more

Relatively Simple Assembly, Great Value & Quality, Love this Chair!

I love this chair! The assembly took me a little under an hour, just have patience (deep breaths) and try not to get frustrated when two of the pieces seem like they won't reach to connect and fasten together -- try flipping it to fasten it at a different angle, apply a bit of elbow grease (muscles), and/or enlist the help of a friend or loved one. In the end you'll have a great chair! There are relatively few moving pieces that need to fit together first you connect the seat to the back, then you put on the arm rests, and then you connect the ottoman cushion to the wood. That's it! You can do it! For the price it's a very practical, comfortable and good looking chair. I love to use it to recline with a good book, or close my eyes with a guided meditation. A+ for prompt delivery, easy to follow simple instructions, and overall quality and value! ... show more

Black (NOT LEATHER) Recliner

DEFINITELY NOT LEATHER. It's misrepresented as "leather". The chair is fine. Indeed it is not a full scale recliner, nor did I expect it to be. Looks good in the picture - end of story. I ordered two of these and they were sent separately on different days by two different shipping companies. I also wanted to cancel the order a minute after placing it because I wanted to change the color to the brown, but was unable to do so. One of the chairs had a broken recliner handle which has somehow been broken in shipping. Instead of sending the chairs back we decided to keep them. Luckily hubby is handy and he managed to fix the broken handle. I think that consumers would be happier with this product if they were not under the impression that they were getting a leather recliner and then disappointed when it arrives with thin plastic type leather look alike. We're keeping the chairs because they serve the purpose they were purchased for. I'm adding to this review now that I've had these chairs for several months. The material they are covered in is not only not real leather but it's so thin that it's easy to nick. I have seen several scratches and nicks on the plastic and they are hardly ever used. If you want my honest opinion, I should have sent these back. You get what you pay for. Now does anyone here have money to throw away on cheap furniture? ... show more
