I call it odd because in addition to the octave controls and dry/mix knob, it has a bunch of seemingly random other effects thrown in. After fiddling with it awhile, the combo started making sense--but never mind that, lets talk about the headliner--octaves. The octave effects are positively great. I love that this pedal has separate tone controls for the -1 and +1 octaves in addition to the mandatory mix knob that allows you to dial in the desired amount of dry signal. Most importantly, the latency of this pedal is slightly decreased from the also excellent Flamma FS08 octave pedal that I previously purchased with my very own money. I set up a A/B situation, and struggled to hear a difference at first, although I could sort of feel one. When I dropped out the dry signal entirely, it was clear that the new pedal has lower latency, which I think shows Flamma is on its game and working to improve its tech. Another major improvement of this pedal is the ability to switch back and forth instantly between what the knobs show and the presets with a second footswitch. True, there are only 3 vs 7 presets on the FS08, but I prefer to choose between them with a three-way switch rather than cycling through with a button. The drawback is that the pedal now has a larger footprint, but it's a tradeoff I'll accept. Likewise, I can do without the -2 and +2 octaves of the FS08. However, if you're going for an organ-like sound, or something super weird, you might prefer that pedal. There are three other effects: a cavernous reverb, a modulation that straddles the line between a vibrato and simulated tape delay without the delay and a delayed attack setting that sounds kind of like a "swell" reverse reverb without the reverb. The modulation is of limited interest to me, but the reverb and attack settings can be combined with distortion later in the chain to create a howling kind of solo effect. p.s.--After reading another review, I checked whether my pedal heats up, and it does not. It also doesn't create distortion, so I am guessing that pedal has an issue. I do agree there's a volume bump when the octave levels are cranked, but simply turning down the levels is the way to cut volume. The overall combo kind of turns this into an all-purpose ambient or shoe-gazey type machine. I could probably live without the added affects, but they add some value. (There might more to these settings than I've explained here--I'm primarily interested in the octave function.) Not that it matters to me at the moment, but stereo in and out is another bonus. Highly recommended.

This octave pedal is packed with features! I really enjoy the favorites presets which allows you to dial in three drastically different sounds and be able to go between them with the switch of the button. The really big surprise for me was the built-in super ambient reverb. The sound quality is really good and the controls are pretty self-explanatory. It did take me a little tweaking to find a few different sounds that I really enjoy. However, once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to dial up many different. Sounds with this pedal. The quality is top-notch and it really looks like they’re using really good components in and out. No issues with noise or feeding back. This pedal is marketed towards guitar however I’ve tried it on both and I love it just as much on my baseboard as much as my guitar. Really fun modulation effect and is absolutely worth having in your arsenal. Really good value for the money I would definitely recommend!

As far as Octave effect this sounds pretty good and can get pretty extreme as far as effect range. BUT, even on a perfectly clean channel only using this pedal in the signal chain I get distortion playing big chords. I don't know if I'm overdriving the input of the pedal or if the pedal is driving the input of the amp too hard. Not having a volume adjustment on this pedal is a bit of an issue to me, Because when engaging the pedal you can hear a slight volume boost so I suspect the pedal has too much output gain, maybe buffered too hot? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It also gets unusually warm for a single pedal, I've honestly never had a pedal get this warm before so It must be really sucking the juice. It says it requires 300ma and I imagine it's using all Of that. It's not hot to the touch but noticably warm. This isn't bad, but due to the distortion I'm getting I'm not going to be using it much.

YEs, with some tweaking you could get a totally passable 'All Along the Watchtower' octavia solo out of this, but that would be under utilizing what's on tap here. Firstly though, the build quality is good. The pots turn nice and quiet. The switches are smooth. The sound is legit. Not eventide or strymon, but totally professional. This needs 300mA power. I got a power supply for the pedal included, and it had a nice heavy duty wire. It didn't feel disposable. Only on two really extreme settings did I encounter noise, and I'm fairly certain that on my isolated pedal power supply it would be non-existent. I only used this pedal in mono mode. It's really two or even three pedals in one. You get an octave up, an octave down, ( with a tone for each ) and they can be used simultaneously! It's given me zero problems. Then there's a row of extras - reverb, mod, attack, and dry. The reverb is spacey and ambient rather than retro-spring. The mod is hard to describe - and it was my least favorite control. Attack was the key to unlocking all the tones this pedal is capable of -it has 4 really dramatic contributions, at least. The dry control works in the opposite direction of every other dry knob, so if you think it isn't working, turn it the other way! I mention all this because as of this writing, mid june2024, flamma has not put the manual up on their website. That also means I wasn't quite able to figure out how to set the favorite mode. Anyway, if you want a 60's sound, it's be easier to get something that just does that. If you want to make up NEW sounds, this is a great tool for your kit. I'm imagining electronic drums, or one channel of stereo guitar through here and another through a different box, Crazy re-amped vocals - there is alot of potential in this pedal.

This guitar octave pedal by FLAMMA has turned out to be one of those things that I didn't know I needed. I didn't know much about octave pedals or really how to use them, other trying out the settings on those modeling pedals. What a surprise, as a single pedal, this is so much easier to get into all those fun sounds and features. I can.t believe all the ways I have learned to incorporate some of these sounds into my music. The basic overview instructions explain what all the knobs do. Delightful to use.

This is a potent pedal in a small form factor. You can get all kinds of interesting sounds from it for different applications. They add a little bit of all their effects pedals in this package. Reverb, Octave, modulation, Tone and attack. With those parameters you can come up with many different sounds. What is even cooler is you can store three of your favorite effect chains for recall later on stage. Being such a small package makes it attractive to take on the road.

I was happy with this octave pitch shifter. It offered a decent sound, and a wide range of features. I especially like the ability to save presets on the pedal. The reverb option is nice, but I won't be using it very much. I tend to have a reverb at the end of my chain in the FX loop, and my octave pedal will typically be sitting in the pre-amp stage.
