  • Fantastic Product
First started using this stuff for my son's diaper covers. Had a half empty bottle sitting in the closet for about 10 years before it occurred to me to try it on my bicycling clothing. The results were fantastic. I wear a lot of (expensive) merino wool products although they are usually machine washable, I've found they last much longer and look better hand washed in Eucalan It's actually easier and more efficient than the washing machine and I like that it's restoring some of the lanolin that otherwise gets washed out over time. I fill a small tub with water and a little Eucalan. I add the clothes and let them soak for an hour or two. Then I pour out the dirty water and put the clothes in the washing machine on the spin only cycle, takes 10 minutes in my front loading machine. The clothes come out very clean and almost dry. My wool cycling shorts, which take a lot of abuse and get washed at least once a week, still look new after one year of this treatment. Another garment that I feel was "saved" by Eucalan is a very expensive heavyweight wool shirt made by Filson. Even though it was labeled dry clean only, it never really came clean form those costly and inconvenient trips to the cleaners (plus "washing" your clothing in toxic chemicals seems really gross to me!). Eventually it accumulated enough grubby stains that it was unwearable in public. I gave it a two hour soak in Eucalan, then the spin treatment above. After hang drying it looked like new and smelled great. I also use Eucalan for travel. Since rinsing is optional, it's very easy to wash your clothing in a hotel room sink. I wear a lot of merino by Icebreaker, Ibex, Smartwool, etc and it all responds really well to this treatment. It seems to work fine on cotton and synthetic clothing as well. ... show more

  • Lovely scent
I have only recently gotten more serious about my knitting skills and admit that in the past I rarely blocked my pieces. I am singing a different song now. I’ve learned the importance of blocking and discovered this gentle wool wash in which I can soak my pieces. It does not require rinsing and the scent is lovely and definitely not overpowering. Not only will I be blocking but I will be using this for the soak and washes. ... show more

  • Best detergent for your wool products, just be careful not to oversaturate your items.
I use this detergent exclusively for my wool socks made by darn tough. I figured if I'm paying 20+ dollars per pair for the socks, I might as well do them right by getting the right detergent for them. As a result I've been able to enjoy the comfort and benefits this lanolin detergent provides from the start of my career as a paid professional firefighter in the academy to my first station. The only potential issue I have encountered which was my fault is that its possible to use too much detergent and also washing wool items too frequently. Excess washing causes lanolin build up which can start reducing the benefits and cause insulation resulting in even more sweat and in my case, the return of smelly feet. Since youre just supposed to soak your items in the detergent for 15-30 minutes when washing in a tub or top loader, there isnt actually anything that agitates the wool articles and as a result the built up filth stays in there. So going off that note, I recommend washing whatever wool items you have with your normal load of laundry (care instructions permitting) with generic detergent such as gain or tide. Once that load is done you can use the eucalan in a separate load for only your wool items so they can pickup the lanolin and you can continue to enjoy its benefits. ... show more

  • Best Way to Pamper Fine Fabrics!
My grandmother taught me to knit when I was a little girl. However, I never excelled at it until I was pregnant with my first born and sentenced to bed rest half way through my pregnancy. A few years later I discovered natural fibers and became an even better knitter. Now I knit socks, lace and multi-stranded sweaters. Putting so much work into each product, I am determined to take the best possible care of my knitted items when they are complete. I only use Eucalan Fine Fabric Wash on my hand knits and Eucalan Eucalyptus is my absolute favorite. WHAT IS IN THE BOX: Eucalan comes in two sizes, but I prefer the larger 16.9 oz size because I knit a lot. Each bottle contains a rich, gently scented fine fabric wash. I can wash several items in a dish washing tub with about a tablespoon of Eucalan. A large bottle lasts a long time. WHAT I LIKE: • The gentle scent does not give me a migraine. That is actually a big deal for me. • It works. I use it on sweaters I have knit for my kids and they get all sorts of stuff on them. • A little goes a long way. • The lanolin conditions wool naturally. I use wool more than anything in my hand knits. • This product is biodegradable. • I have used it for years with a septic tank and have never had any issues. • I don’t have to rinse it out of my hand knits after soaking. This makes it super easy to use. • Eucalyptus is a natural moth repellant. • Made in America (Canada) where oversight is higher. • Thick and rich but easily dissolves in water. WHAT I DON’T LIKE: • I have used this product for more than a decade and have never found anything I do not like about it. PICTURES: I am including pictures of the bottle and a little of the product in my hand. This is a fantastic wool wash that works on other fine fabrics as well. It is the only thing I would use on fine fabrics and I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Perfect for Wool
Left my heavy wool sweater clean and soft with a very light scent. Washed in cold water, delicate cycle in a front-loading washer (no damaging agitator). Amazing how little product is needed - I’m tickled with the value AND the results!

  • Dont Bother Picking Scents
Works well with wool, but dont expect the scents to remain. Ive bought a lavender and a eucalyptus and neither ever had any scent
