  • Impressive Quality & Performance – Highly Recommend!
Design: X30 with 2 Batteries
The media could not be loaded. I recently purchased this tattoo machine and have already had the chance to put it to the test. I have to say, I’m thoroughly impressed with its performance, build quality, and value for the price. The machine feels solid and well-constructed in hand. It has a sleek design, and the materials used give it a premium feel, making it comfortable to hold for long sessions without fatigue. The motor is strong and consistent, providing smooth operation without excessive vibration. It packs enough power to handle both lining and shading effortlessly, which is a major plus for a professional artist. The needle depth adjustment is precise, allowing for great control over different techniques ... show more

  • Versatility, value and ease of use = awesome!
Design: X30 with 2 Batteries
There are plenty of good things to say about the Filter X30 rotary-style tattoo machine and not a lot of bad, in my experience. Some people, though, will likely find that this machine doesn't fit their needs or preferences at all or that it's a solid choice of rotary machine, but they still need or want to use a coil machine, as well. The machine is shaped like an oversized digital tablet stylus (or like a very thick pen) and runs on a rechargeable battery. It includes the machine itself plus a second display unit (which contains the battery, so a second power source essentially) and the type-C charging materials. The machine is compatible with all standard tattoo cartridge needles, rather than requiring a proprietary cartridge. Its lightweight and cordless style allow for a lot of freedom of movement. The shape of the machine emphasizes intuitive movement with its familiar, cylindrical, pen-like shape. The coreless motor means very low levels of vibration, which reduces noise and causes less discomfort in the hand when holding the machine for long periods. The OLED display shows the voltage and remaining battery percentage in a clear, easy to read format with a bright, colored face that's easy to read at a glance. The stroke can be easily adjusted by rotating a clearly marked ring encircling the top of the machine's body, right under the display. The machine has adjustable stroke length, with multiple presets, ranging from 2mm to 4.2mm, which will give you a range of effects when shading and lining. The manufacturer says that the Flex30 will run for 5-7 hours on a single charge, but I haven't tested that claim as I've only used it for short, experimental runs. But since the recharge time is only 2 hours and you have a second display/battery unit, that should give you more time for larger pieces and longer sessions if both batteries are charged in advance. While there are a lot of tattoo artists who prefer the coil-style tattoo machine, I really like the X30. It handles more intuitively and balances well in my hand. I do struggle a bit with the circumference of it when holding it for long periods since my hands are smaller. Someone with a larger hand span would find it more comfortable to grip the machine for a longer time. That being said, a coil machine is almost always going to be the better choice for finer linework and anything requiring precision and/or more power. A rotary machine like this one is better suited to shading larger areas, but can be used to do fine linework as well. You may find that a rotary-style machine isn't for you at all or that you need both rotary and coil machines to do your art, depending on your preferences and level of skill. All in all, this is a nice little powerhouse of a tattoo machine! The versatility is nice and allows for both line work and shading with the same machine, though it shines more when it comes to shading than outlining. ... show more

  • Decent, But Overpriced for What You Get
Design: X30 with 2 Batteries
Unless I’m missing something, this tattoo gun feels like every other pen I’ve tried—except this one only comes with the gun and a battery. At $100, it’s on the high end, especially when other kits at this price include everything you need to start practicing. With this, you’ll still need to buy ink, needles, wraps, cups, gloves… the whole setup. It’s a solid machine, but for beginners, a full kit would be a much better deal. ... show more

  • Solid Machine!
Design: X30 with 2 Batteries
Received the machine today and did a retouch on an old piece someone had! Machine preformed well! The adjustable stroke is nice and I’m a sucker for OLED so that’s nice too! This should be good for beginners and seasoned artists alike!

  • Used grip tape to make it more comfortable for my small hands
Design: X30 with 2 Batteries
I am an amateur and I am using this machine on practice skins. I have 3 other machines and found this one easy to use but a bit bulkier in my hands. I am female and wear womens size medium gloves, for reference and comparison. I have had no issues with the batteries. I did charge the batteries fully before using them the first time. They looked like they were 80% charged based on the digital readout but it still took about an hour to top them off. From reading other reviews, it might be that the digital percentage shows higher than the actual charge of the battery. I recommend charging fully before use and charging again if they haven’t been used for several weeks. There are really good speed and depth adjustments on this that are easy to see. I used some grip tape to get a more comfortable balanced hold after adjusting to the larger size. For reference and comparison, I know two of my other machines were designed for permanent makeup so they are likely scaled for smaller hands, in my opinion and based on their curved shape with thinner overall profile. I recommend this machine based on the details I outlined above. Again, I am not licensed and this is my opinion based on using this machine on fake skin. I hope my thoughts help someone. ... show more

  • Great for practice
Design: X30 2 Batteries Kit
I've been practicing my hand at tattooing using fake skins, and this tattoo gun has really helped in my learning process. It is a pretty simple machine to use as there aren't really that many settings, and "just works". It was compatible with all the needles I tried and battery lasted several hours before needing to be charged (which takes awhile). Overall a nice tool to practice this trade with, and while I do plan on upgrading when I get better, was super useful for me to start out with. ... show more
