If you're a first-time buyer wondering whether a premium sander is worth it—stop wondering and just get this one. After years of hand sanding and a decade with a corded Harbor Freight sander, I finally upgraded to this Festool model. I wish I had done it sooner. The difference is night and day. Not only is the sanding incredibly smooth and precise, but the built-in dust control is amazing. Even using just the included dust bag, there's almost zero mess to clean up afterward. One of the biggest surprises? How quiet it is. I can use it early in the morning or late at night in my garage without disturbing my family or neighbors. We finally upgraded our sander and bought this. It is worth the price tag! My hand doesn't feel numb for hours after doing a big project. It is fast and efficient. Minimal dust is left behind. I was initially on the fence about buying this sander with its seemingly exorbitant price tag, but it truly is better than any other random orbital sander I’ve ever used. Excellent power, ergonomic, leaves an extremely smooth finish, does not fatigue your hands, and the dust collection is phenomenal. I build cabinets for a living and spend countless hours sanding countertops and doors. This palm sander never gets fatiguing to use and gets wood perfectly smooth. It’s so ergonomic to use it almost seems to glide over the surface you’re sanding. Dust collection is superb when hooked up to a shop vac. The included guard is truly wonderful. It protects your hands and edges of work pieces from getting nicked by the edge of the sandpaper. Such a fantastic tool. For the price, it’s an incredible value.

Its Festool, need I say more? I hate sanding especially with a cord, however, this sander is great. Adjustable speed. Does t run away on you. Reasonable for the price as well.

I've used a lot of orbital sanders and was actually reluctant to purchase this one due to the higher price. I needed something for the shop that would have better dust collection and a hose that was lightweight. I previously purchase the Rockler vacuum hose for small tools and was very disappointed. It's heavy and cumbersome, many times pull your tool off the workbench or catching on the hose ribbing. This sander, when coupled with the HEPA vacuum system, is surprisingly good. I expected it to be of high quality since it's Festool, but didn't think it would perform up to the price. It does. There is less vibration and it sands smoother in every way. The vacuum works so well with it that there isn't any sawdust on the piece at all. It's actually amazing. The detachable power cord makes it easier to store and the sustainer (container) is really good. A tool that comes with a rectangular case that is stackable; what a great idea. All they other tools I have come with odd shaped vacuum plastic containers that take up more space than they need to. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.

I'm a starting woodworker and have been using a Ryobi orbital sander for years. I saw a review on this Festool sander from 731Woodworks and wanted to research it. I had a large sanding project where I was restoring an old pine pie cabinet and prepping it for paint. This sander is by far one of the best investments I've ever made in a tool and my very first purchase of Festool of any kind. It's super crazy smooth and powerful. The volume was a lot less than the Ryobi and the biggest thing was that the fatigue from holding it went down to almost nothing. I didn't have to turn it off at any point in the job to take a break so I could feel my hand again from the vibration of the tool. I have a lot of Ryobi hand tools, mostly because I'm a beginner and needed to save money, so staying with them seemed the natural thing to do especially since it was cordless. However, I don't mind the tradeoff of this corded Festool at all now that I've used it. It's got a very long cord and I don't feel I'm getting tangled up in it. I literally through the Ryobi sander I had in the garbage after 1 day of using this. Drop the mic and roll the credits... Boom!
