Unnecessary, absolutely. Quality of life, 100%. I find myself using this way more than I expected to, especially since I use my extractor on multiple tools. I don't know why I didn't get this before, it makes using the vac 10x easier as I don't need to bend down or walk around my workstation to turn the vac on, and allows flexibility to manually turn the vac on and keep it on auto for the next pass-through tool to use. Because of this addon, I can see a noticeable increase in productivity and in general I opt to use my Extractor more as well. It's worth it to me to not have to walk back and forth over and over to turn it on. But damn, why does a remote control have to cost so much? One tip: after trying to make it work and getting nowhere, I looked at the instructions and found you have to register both the receiver that goes on your vacuum (BLUETOOTH CT-F I/M) and the button that straps to the hose (CT-F I) in the Festool "Work App" on your smartphone (Android and iOS). In the "Power tools" section of the app, click the + to add the tool. After that, the button turned on the vacuum as expected when the vacuum switch was turned to "Auto", and I didn't need to be running the app after that, just to get the products into the app initially. ... show more

The ability to have a Bluetooth turn on for the collector is great. You can just turn it on from where you are working and not fumble back to the machine to turn it on.

Works seamlessly with my new CT26 dust extractor as expected. I wouldn't own a Festool dust extractor without getting this addition, really handy to have. ONe note, at first I couldn't get it to work. Then I figured out you have to be in" auto" on the dial. It won't work on manual.

    • These should be required when purchasing a Festool Product
I've been delaying almost a year in purchasing the Bluetooth switch for my Vacuum. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG? No, they aren't cheap, but if you're already swimming the festool waters, you jumped over the cheap bridge a long time ago. If you use a Festool vacuum, you absolutely need these. I kick myself for not buying it long ago. No more bending over to turn the vacuum on manually, and no more tripping over tools when you realize you didn't vacuum up a small spot before turning off the unit.
