I just finished building a big workbench which includes my table saw, miter saw and router. Plus my shop vac is mounted on the underside. These gates were vital in building a dust collection system. Now I just open or close the gates, and magic the dust is drawn from the tool to the vacuum.

These blast gates work very well. My only complaint is they're a little stiff to open and close so you have to hold the hose with your other hand.

I really wasn't sure the plastic blast gates would be any good. I started with the crappy black plastic ones and replaced them with metal. The metal ones didn't fall apart like the black ones but they leaked bad and were noisy. Based on the good reviews I decided to try the Powertec orange blast gates and after a few weeks I'm happy to report they work great and it appears they will last a long time. The best part is they seal good. No air leaks, no whistling sounds, whether they are open or closed. They work like they should. I have them on a drum sander, belt sander, jointer/planer, and bandsaw. So I have fine dust and chips and neither seem to cause any clogging issues. I plan to replace all my other 4" blast gates with these. Highly recommend. ... show more

So these are great, but the plastic needs roughed up so the clamped hose will stay on. They do self clear, and close Everytime with no failure after a year.

These blast gates are much nicer than the cheaper version out there. The material is robust and the gate itself slides easily with a good seal. Make sure you know the direction to mount them. The side labeled Out is to be mounted on the vac side, not the tool side.

They work well. However they appear to be designed only to work with other Powertec pipe parts. There is no way to attach them to a wall or workbench if you're using flex hose or other hoses. Disappointing. Was expecting better given the cost of these units. Not even comfortable drilling my own mounting holes as I don't want to damage the mechanism inside. No obvious place to drill mounting holes. So they work, but not easy to mount... ... show more
