I am a hobbyist, not a carpenter nor a craftsman. With that preface, I can say that the saw suits my needs perfectly. It is light and manageable and it has depth and angular settings that are easy to adjust. I have used it mainly for cutting wood to 3/4" thick and it has done this very accurately with a neat cut. A neater cut, in fact, than I can get with a decent hand saw. The thickest wood I have cut with it was a 2" by 4", which it handled with no problem. I also used it on a 2" by 4" to cut the wood to depth for a lap joint, which it did with facility. I've used 2.5ah and 4ah Ryobi batteries with the saw and found no difference in cutting power. Presumably the 4ah battery would last longer. The blade is easy to install and remove and its key stores neatly on the body of the saw, minimizing risk of loss or misplacement. For my purposes it is an excellent tool and very good value for money. ... show more

    • Nice reliable saw.
When the battery starts to run low the saw has struggles cutting. Other than that the saw has worked great for me used it for about 15 cuts on one charge with the default Ryobi batterie. This unit dose not included a battery with it.

    • Old model was easier to use.
This saw is awkward and off balance. The older model could be used one handed but this one can't be. The old one lasted over 25 years. I expect this wont last but 5 to 10 years at best. The moter seems to be weaker too.

    • It's about the whole experience
I did not want to spend a fortune on this circular saw model since I'm not a professional, but I did not expect to get something that feels so cheap. Provide the same overall quality and charge a premium for performance and extra features; don't compromise the quality of the body. I presume it works but have not tested it yet since the batteries will arrive later, but at this point, I'm planning to contact the seller and/or get a different model. Also, it appears that this was a returned item; it was shipped inside a bag (inside an Amazon box) which was partially cut in several areas. Not surprisingly, the saw come with a few noticeable scratches, and the 'Depth lock knob, its post, and washer' detached from the saw--I was lucky that I checked the manual since the washer was still (loose) in the bag which I already placed in the trash can. So yes, I gave this product and the seller the lowest possible overall rating for the disappointing experience. ... show more
