  • **UPDATED REVIEW** Wanted to love this but …
Style: 235E Color: Natural
**UPDATED REVIEW** From one star to five, just like that! I messaged Amazon customer service and got no response for over a week so I messaged Fender directly. After providing my serial number, we went over the issue and in a week we had a new replacement in hand. That tuner key was probably a one-off, the replacement from Fender was awesome, sounds and plays lovely, and as predicted, inexpensive but still a quality product from a classy company. **OLD REVIEW** Before anyone says “you get what you pay for”, understand that regardless, this isn’t a cheap guitar and it’s a Fender so there’s a certain level of quality you expect. You expect it to sound relatively good, which it does, and you expect it to look nice, which it does. What you don’t expect is for the tuning keys to just fall off and not screw back on. The guitar is barely 2 weeks old, this shouldn’t be happening. I’ll be messaging the seller to see what can be done. Thankful I bought the insurance. ... show more

  • A work of art
Style: 450CE Color: Sunburst
I’ve been playing bass for about 20 years. I’ve owned several fender electric basses over the years. I avoided acoustic basses because all of the ones I played tore my fingers to shreds within minutes. I recently moved into a condo and wanted something quieter than an amplified electric bass that I could just pick up and play without using headphones. After a bit of online browsing, reading Amazon reviews, and watching YouTube videos, I decided on this one. I happened to find a reduced price open box Amazon Warehouse deal because of a small scratch on the black part near the sound hole (doesn’t bother me at all, especially when seeing it reminds me of how much money I saved), and I can confidently say that this instrument is worth every dollar, even at full price. First, this thing plays like a dream. As I said, previous acoustic basses I played tore up my fingers, but this is comparable to an electric precision bass. I can sit and play for an hour or two with zero discomfort. It’s comfortable to play not only for an acoustic, but one of the easiest basses I’ve ever played. The onboard tuner, while not something that would make or break my decision to purchase, is a welcome luxury. For me personally, the unplugged volume is exactly what I was looking for. I have not played it through an amplifier yet as that was not my purpose for purchasing it, but I do look forward to trying that out in the future, and I am glad to have that option when I’ll eventually need it. I also own a fender six string with a similar pickup system that faithfully recreates the acoustic sound, and I anticipate this one will work just as well. Finally, this bass is just very appealing to look at. The craftsmanship is superb, and I like displaying it on a stand in my living room. If you’re reading this, that means you’re probably considering buying this, and, if so, just do it! You will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • Nice guitar but pattern not as shown in photos
I will start off by admitting I'm a bit of a Fender homer. I have a few Fender guitars, so when I saw this one I did some research and decided to buy it as my daily player. It is a laminate construction but those have gotten better over the years and since I live in a area that is very dry most of the time and very wet the rest, I like the idea of a guitar that wont be damaged by dramatic humidity shifts. I received the guitar about a month ago and first impressions are that it is very nice for a lower priced instrument. I will say the maple pattern is quite different from the picture, I guess that is to be expected, but it is very nice looking, though not exactly what I was expecting. The strings provided we're very tinny so I replaced them almost immediately. I purchased "Martin Authentic Acoustic Guitar Strings - Lifespan 2.0 Treated" from amazon as well and the difference was staggering. A much fuller, richer sound and smoother playing experience. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I only gave it 4 stars due to the unexpected pattern of the wood, not quite as nice as the one in the photo and the total garbage strings. I would recommend, it does play wonderfully and I'd buy it again. ... show more

  • Unplugged Volume/Tone V.Good
Style: 450CE Color: Sunburst
This bass sounds real good both natural and plugged in. She's got Thump; bottom end you hear and feel. I real loved playing this one except for one thing that's specific to my needs: the neck is a little to thick for my hands. I guess I'm average for a lille below on hand size and finger length. The nut width is fine, just the depth for me. She's much more beautiful in person than any photo I've seen. Bright and colorful. You won't be disappointed. And good strong bass tones to go with it. This bass is an absolute try in this range. Much more bass than the CB-60SCE I tried, but a thinner neck on the CB-60SCE. Good luck several that workfor you. I found a mint Spector Timbre jr that's a perfect fit for my left hand. ... show more

Plays beautifully, great full-bodied sound. The craftsmanship is wonderful, right down to the tortoise hair edges. Beautiful look with high-gloss finish.

  • Not bad but with a little work it can be better
Not a bad guitar for the money but had some issues out of the gate. First let me say that for this budget this is an excellent guitar. That being said right out of the box the g- string had begun unraveling right in front of the sound hole. Cheap strings. No worries. Ordered new one. While installing new strings on of the tuning gears stripped and wouldn’t turn anymore. Okay, that sucks. Ordered better running machines. Another $60. While installing those the nut fell out and has never seen glue. It appears to be plastic too. So I’ll go through and replace the nut and saddle while I’m at it too. It sounded thin and runny when I first got it but it played fast. Once I had new strings and new tuning machines on it it needed a neck adjustment to compensate for the heavier strings. Now it has a great sound. Cost me an additional 75-100 bucks to replace some cheap hardware. Once that was done though this is a warm sounding instrument with great midrange. It’s beautiful and has great binding and slim fast playing neck. Over all judgment, this is a beautiful instrument made with some sub par parts. Of you want to spend a little extra this guitar will give a little extra but it will most likely need a little help right out of the box. ... show more
