I was not convinced that brushes could do a better job than my trusty sponges when applying makeup, but this 5 Piece Makeup Brush Set from Zoe Ayla has changed my mind. The first thing I noticed is how elegant these brushes look, and how nice it feels to hold them. They are lightweight and the handles offer some grip, plus I like how the handles get thicker at the top which is where my arthritic fingers prefer to grasp them. But the best thing about these brushes are the bristles, which are very, very soft and abundant. They feel divine on my skin and made the application of my foundation not only effortless but flawless. I guess it's because of the bristle denseness, but these brushes do a much better job than my sponge, which did not seem to be able to evenly distribute my makeup into every "nook and cranny" so to speak. For a brush newbie, the different styles are a lot of fun to experiment with, and I really appreciate the guidance in pointing out what each brush is for... I especially love the spoolie because who knew you were supposed to brush your eyebrows? I did not, but darned if they don't look better! When I ordered this set of brushes they were selling for $19.99 for the set of five, and since I love every single one of them I'm going to say that's a steal!

I haven't used a brush before, but have been curious. So I decided to try the Zoë Ayla 5 Piece Basic Face Makeup Brush Set. These are elegant-looking brushes, and are lightweight. The handles are smooth and easy to hold. The bristles are extremely soft and feel good on my skin. As a new user to brushes, I was disappointed that no instructions were included that showed how to use the brushes for the best effect, nor any tips or tricks for applying makeup. Nevertheless, I grabbed the one I thought would be best for a powder foundation and used it on one side of my face. I then used my regular sponge to apply to the other side. I didn't notice any significant improvement using the brush versus the sponge. It actually seemed to give less coverage. More of my makeup dropped onto the countertop using the brush than it did with my sponge. One other issue I had was no instructions on the best way to clean the brushes to preserve the soft bristles long term. Everyone is different in their experiences, but for me, this won't replace the sponges I use for my particular makeup. I could see it being an additional tool for blending and such, though. Perhaps with time and experience, my opinion of using brushes as my primary makeup tool will change.

These brushes are lightweight but do not feel cheap. The bristles are of good quality with a soft texture. I thought the eyeshadow brush looked to large but it worked well with my three chosen colors. I was also able to blend them with the same brush. I liked how well the powder brush applied the powder and buffed it into my skin. The blush brush had some difficulty picking up the color but I am unsure if that is because the bristles are so soft or if it was because the blush was brand new. Overall a very good product that I would happily repurchase or gift to a makeup loving friend.

I have had some really terrible brushes from amazon, but these are probably the best quality i've gotten in a while. The brush denseness is great. They don't shed. And they offer a uniform application that I would expect from big-box beauty stores.

I was hesitant if they would work as good as sponges, but they really do. The set is nice and lightweight, and the handles are still comfortable to hold. The bristles are very soft, yet strong at the same time, and they're attached well. I haven't seen them wearing down or falling out just yet after a week. I used them with some powdered makeup, and they got to every part of my face to apply. I’m really happy with this set. The brushes are a good quality, and they work exactly as they should.

These makeup brushes are surprisingly good quality. The handles are sturdy and easy to grip and hold, and all of the brushes are SUPER soft! They all apply my makeup with ease, and I absolutely love the spoolie that's on the end of the eyeliner brush! Definitely an awesome addition, and an incredible makeup brush set all the way around!

This is a very pretty looking set of synthetic face brushes. The ferrules have that particular soft finish, the kind you seen on Nars black packaging. That look expensive, much more than the stated price of $20. The bristles are soft, not scratchy, they blend blush and foundation fairly well. No you're not getting high end mink brushes, but these do their job well enough. They don't shed and wash well with regular shampoo.

I like variety of brushes in the set. They are very soft on my face and so far don't shed/drop bristles so I am hopeful they will hold up well. The handles are a soft matte finish and comfortable to hold and use. Good quality for a reasonably priced synthetic set.
