  • Very good guitar for the money
Color: Natural Finish Style: 12-String Dreadnought
To start, I play guitar because I like it, not because I am good at it. At the tender age of 63 I have a little over a year on stringed instruments and started with a bass, tried a six string and loved it, and I’ve had a yen for trying out a twelve for fun. I’d been playing twelves at local shops but I wasn’t ready to drop $500 on a sometimes instrument. As I was perusing the Amazon site I saw that this Fender was only $210, reduced from its usual $299. After a few hours of consideration I hit the button. I have had five Fenders and am a fan of their acoustics as they are good instruments for the price, and look cool. It arrived two days later in its original box. On opening it I saw that it was in pristine condition. I removed the plastic and strummed and it sounded awful. Quick research on the web told me that often twelve strings are detuned before shipping, especially if there is air travel involved. It took awhile, but I finally got it in tune after I realized how. Tune the top two in unison, the next two in unison, then tune the remaining thick strings to a normal tune. The thin strings go an octave higher. If you don’t know (and I didn’t) just keep tuning up until you hit the next E, A, D, and G. Once it was in tune it sounded good. It has held a tune fairly well since. By good I mean that it sounds good for a $300 guitar and will never hit the sounds of a top end twelve, but it is good enough for my playing abilities. Hotel California sounds amazing on it. The sound is a bit high pitched, but that can easily be solved with different strings. Plugged in it sounded nice and still retained that nice acoustic sound. Overall, I would buy this guitar again. It’s a good entry level twelve and will probably satisfy my needs for some time. It also looks good hanging on that wall. On a side note, the 9 volt battery that came with it died in a day, easily replaced. Update- The more I play this instrument, the more I like it. My son in law was over and he liked it so much he ordered one. Grab one before the price goes back up again. ... show more

  • Don't forget to remove the pick board plastic!
Color: Black Style: 6-String Dreadnought
I love this guitar. At first, I was going to return it because it looked damaged on the pick board. That was just a VERY thin plastic. The guitar is beautiful and sounds and plays beautifully for its price point.

  • Arrived In Box Perfect & Plays Awesome
Color: Natural Finish Style: 12-String Dreadnought
Wow, UPS just delivered my $349 Fender CD-60SCE-12 Dreadnought 12 string guitar two days early and the box is designed so well that the guitar (with no case), arrived on Maui, HI perfect !! I put my strong Kyser 12 string capo on the second fret because I tune down my guitar to make it play easier. I opened Youtube and typed in, Tune Your 12 String Guitar [Easy Way], this will make sure you are on all of the correct octaves in E tune and will not break any strings tuning. Just tune the guitar with the capo on it. I can't believe how nice this guitar plays for the price, I love it !! I am very happy with all of the hardware and craftsmanship and finish. I put the battery in and plugged it in to the amp. Really clean and clear sounds and then added some effects. I don't turn up my treble to much when I plugged in a 12 -- this clears any string buzz. So I hope you can tell how happy I am with this purchase !! Awesome 12 string production from Fender. ... show more

  • Disappointed (update)
Color: Natural Finish Style: 12-String Dreadnought
I started to give this guitar 3 then I moved it up to four once I plugged it in. It definitely sounded better through the amp than it did without it. I just got it a few hours ago, and when I was tuning it up one of the tuning pegs slipped already. Once I started playing it, I was disappointed in the initial sound. Once I plugged it into my amp it sounded much better to me. To be honest I wouldn’t recommend this to an experienced player . I’m thinking about returning it already and spending an extra 300 and getting something that sounds better. I bought it because it was a fender and figured I couldn’t go wrong. But as I say you get what you pay for. I just wanted a 12 string because I haven’t had one in 50 years. I have several guitars all six string. Anyway, I’m gonna play for awhile and see if my opinion changes :-) i’ve had the guitar for a month now. It’s still not the greatest 12 string I’ve played, but I’ve gotten used to it. I’ve got a new set of strings to put on it which should help. I’ve had no more problems with the tuning pegs. They seem to be working fine. The main thing is the neck and headstock are so much heavier than the body. You cannot put a strap on the pegs that are on the guitar or the neck just hangs down. I put a strap on it that attaches to the neck of the guitar and has alleviated some of the weight problem. I actually thought about putting a lead weight in the back end of the guitar to even it out. But as far as the sound, It definitely sounds better through my 50 watt fender . I still wouldn’t recommend it for your first 12 string. Spend the extra money. I blame myself for some of this because I ordered it online when I should’ve checked it out at the guitar store first. Had I known about the weight difference I wouldn’t have bought it. :-) but for the time being, I’m happy to have it. Next year I’ll buy a new Guild 12 string. Or hope to. I have nothing against fender, but this is a bad design. I own a fender jazzmaster, and enjoy it very much. And I just bought a new fender amplifier. Next month, god’s willing, I’ll be buying a Stratocaster. And I’d love to have a fender jaguar. I said all this, just to say, I really like Fender, but I do not like this particular guitar. ... show more

  • You can’t go wrong
Color: Natural Finish Style: 12-String Dreadnought
I’ve been playing for over 50 years. This guitar plays better than my Rickenbacker 370/12. I don’t think you can find a better sounding, playing 12 string at this crazy price. I thought for sure I’d be returning it. Once I let it equilibrate to the house temperature and humidity it tuned right up. The neck is straight and intonation is spot on. The Fishman pickup system sounds great. I own about 25 guitars. Some vintage from the 60’s. I will be keeping this one. ... show more
