  • Yesssssss
Great strings. I actually put them on an acoustic Fender Kingman. I love sliding into chords but hate the squeak from the very bright round wounds that were on it. These sound fantastic. I usually play this with no amplification and it still sounds great.

  • Great but not your usual nylon tape wounds
These nylon wound strings will still retain some of the brightness of the wound round sounding strings because they are essentially a round wound string that is covered in black nylon. Other nylon tape wound strings are a steel core with black nylon wound around it so they are very dull and thudy sounding. Because these have the core plus the metal winding and THEN are would with black tape they retain more of the round wound brightness. So - these are great if you want a sound somewhere between tape wound and round and want the slick feel of flats without noise. But, if you want a real thuddy black tape wound string this are not the same. Having said that i really lik these strings so I highly recommend them. Try them out - the price is right - you might be surprised. ... show more

  • Smooth warm tone
A great product Fender has led the way for years. The tone is rich the coating is ideal for a novice player.

  • Love them
I don't want too much bright. I put these on my fretless bass and love them. Not too much bright or thud.

I've used a few tapewounds, and these are my favorite. I typically play Flats (d'addario chromes) and these are good for something different. Love them on my P-bass.

I have a dean acoustic bass that has cheap electronics. The string noise unplugged was fine, but the transients were difficult to deal with amplified or during recording. These strings did the trick. They might also help you get a rounder sound on an electric bass if you're into that "Scott Devine" P style tone. ... show more

  • Great Strings, They are Medium Gauge!
I've only been using these strings for a about a day, so keep that in mind. I've played bass for about 4 years now, another thing to keep in mind. READ THIS FIRST: If you look at the name of the strings, they say they are 'light' gauge. This is incorrect, they are medium as in the picture. This confused me before I ordered the strings. I wanted medium and that's what I got, but if you're looking for light, these are not that. On to the review. If you've never used these types of strings before, they are not a solid nylon texture like a classical acoustic. They are rough, but have a nylon coating. I'm not 100% on why that changes the sound, but it gives it a nice 'tin' sound, if that makes sense. They feel AMAZING to play, it's improved my fret speed and picking durability a good bit. If you only use a pick, these sound and play well with that too. I was worried the black strings would look weird on my bass. This is just my opinion though, look at them and see if they would look fine on your instrument. I love these strings! I'll update this if anything bad happens, but for now a flying 5 stars! ... show more
