  • Visually defective. Bad Jan 2021 batch
Style: Medium, 45-105
Ordered 2 sets after the shortage of stock. Both sets has flawed 3rd or a strings. An actual winding over the A string. I reached out to Fender thinking they would want these back personally for product control. No response so I’m posting photos so you make sure to inspect this recent batch. Hopefully they’ll correct them on the next run from there vendor. ... show more

  • I was pleasantly suprised. Try them.
Style: Medium, 45-105
These strings were just what I needed for my bass guitar. I thought I'd replace the strings, even though the old ones were only 16 years old. (Bassist should change strings every 10 years whether they need changing or not.) These are good quality strings, by Fender. Ive a long scale bass, they were just what i needed. Theyre less expensive than other strings, & work just as well, in my opinion. I used Fender strings on my guitars for decades. The price was great for these bass strings. As i said, i was pleasantly suprised. Thete are other more expensive bass strings, but on my budget i bought these. If money is tight, try them, you may be suprised. ... show more

  • Two A strings, missing a D
Style: Medium Light, 45-100
The media could not be loaded. Picked up the bass again after settin it down for a minute. I restrung it a month or so ago with these strings brand new as a treat for myself when I picked it back up. I was messing with it for the past two days and noticed the sounds off on my D string, it sounds like my E string. I’m positive I replaced the strings correctly, but one is just off a note. I tried a few things to fix it but nothing, it’s clearly a different size and string yet still makes the same sound. ... show more

  • Like Meyatch, I think the tone of these things ...
Style: Medium Light, 45-100
Like Meyatch, I think the tone of these things leaves a little to be desired. My main strings are Rotosound roundwounds, which in my opinion have a more balanced sound with more grunt at the bottom end. These Fenders seem to have a bit of bloom in the upper mids. I'm waiting for them to dull out with steady use over time, hoping that bloom will go away. But, some perspective: First, no one in any audience will ever know the difference. Second, any differences can be eq'd out if the person at the console knows what he's doing. Third, in most mixes, that upper-mid range should be eq'd out anyway because it trespasses up into slots that belong to other instruments. (Who wants a congested mix? Not me.) Fourth, most live-sound systems, whether because of quality or the levels they're run at or both, are going to mask any differences between string sets of reasonably good quality. Fifth, most rooms are awful sound-wise, and that, too, will mask any differences. I've listened to several live recordings of the bands I play in. They were made with a decent cam with a reasonably good external X-Y mic arrangement. Those recordings force me to admit there's no way anyone could tell the difference between these and my favorite Rotosounds, no matter how much I might prefer the latter. Frustrating and relieving at the same time. Know what I mean? (Welcome to live sound.) Would I buy these again? Yep. ... show more

  • Bass Strings: Cheap and Good.
Style: Medium, 45-105
I like these strings. They are rather bright, feel good to play and are very slinky. I record and bass isn’t my main instrument so I didn’t want to spend a bunch of $$ on bass strings. I don’t feel I’m missing out on anything with these.

  • these are less unique and sound more like D'Addario XL's now
Style: Medium, 45-105
Fender changed the strings and they no longer come with black silk wrapping on the ends, which is the reason why I bought these. Fenders change means I will no longer buy their strings. It's a shame they don't advertise such change. They also do not have the same tone as they old strings, these are less unique and sound more like D'Addario XL's now, which I can buy for $6 cheaper. Save your money and buy other strings, Fender ruined these in the name of profits I suppose. ... show more
