I got these pruners to tackle an unkempt garden and they mostly did not disappoint. They appear to be an authentic product. They are sharp, heavy for pruners and easy to use. I have quite small female hands and these are a perfect size for me. This particular model (F8) would be too small if you have larger hands. They operate well on smaller sized branches and stems, but I am not sure that they can cut through an inch wide branch as claimed, at least certainly not with ease. This may partly related to my small hands. I would recommend not using much over 0.5-0.75" diameter. They have a nice secure lock to store the blades in the closed position. I like that Felco has replacement parts so that as the pruners age, I will not need to purchase a whole new set (less wasteful). They are a bit of an investment, but as I have tried a number of other sets of hand pruners and been frustrated by their inability to cut through anything more than a stem, these are worth it to me. They will last a long time.

I’m still using the first pair of these my father-in-law gave me 30 years ago. They fit the hand perfectly and make pruning much easier. The bypass design (versus the anvil style) makes for cleaner/healthier cuts. Using them “upside down,” lets you cut smaller branches much closer to the larger branch. They are a little tricky to disassemble to remove the blade to clean, resharpen, and oil. But once you get the hang of it, they will be a pleasure to use for decades. I’ve purchased these again not because there’s anything wrong with the first pair but because I don’t want to spend my time looking around the garage for them!

I was tired of running through at least one pair of cheap pruners every year, so I decided to upgrade. The price made me hesitate, but the reviews convinced me. Right out of the box, I was in love with these pruners! So sharp! So comfortable in my hand! With these, I could - and did - prune for hours without getting tired. (For those wondering about hand size and fit, I'm a woman with small-medium hands.) Well, it's now 10 years later and I still love my Felco pruners. I don't allow anyone else to use them, but that doesn't mean that I've been gentle with them. We live on 5 wooded acres and it feels as though I'm constantly beating back "the jungle." Loppers are heavy and quickly tire me out, so I use my Felco pruners for everything that can fit inside the cutting mechanism. I've never sharpened them. I've never really cleaned them, other than a quick swipe with a rag. I left them out in the rain once, but some steel wool and oil restored the spring. The blade has a few small dings as a result of my tendency to tackle over-sized woody branches. I appreciate that I can easily get a replacement spring and a new blade.... After 10 years of heavy use and not a little neglect, my pruners deserve some sprucing up, which is what brought me to shop Felco items today. By the way, my practice of not letting anyone else use my pruners is due to my husband's distressing tendency to break my gardening tools. He was so impressed by my Felco pruners that he bought himself a pair in a large size to fit his hands. Amazingly, they have lasted for years and still look almost new.

After having bought a new pair of pruners every year, these are the pair I’ll keep for the rest of my life. Pro: + comfortable + great leverage + SHARP + Steel is tough enough to take a nice edge, but not so hard it's brittle. Easy to sharpen. + Replaceable parts. This is a buy it for life pair of pruners. Every part can be purchased from felco for a reasonable price, I'll never throw these away. + Incredibly well made. + I now have a pair of the pruners my old world grandfather had, but didn't leave me in the will. Con: - This particular model isn't for hands smaller than mine - my friends are tired of me asking them if they've seen my "new" pruners. - I got carried away and over-pruned my bushes.

I have two Felcos of this model already. I purchased these to give to a friend who’s helping me in my garden. There are no better clippers on the market that I know of. My Felcos have withstood the test of time (decades), partly because it’s so easy to replace worn-out blades, lost springs, and any other part of the clippers. These make a perfect gift for any right-handed gardener who’s got big hands.

This Felco F-8 is an excellent bypass pruner. It is a little heavy and a holster (Felco F-912 Leather Scabbard Holster with Belt Clip) is a good accessory. However, the F-8 seems best for larger hands. I have short hands/fingers, and so I also tried a Felco F-6 (Felco F-6 Classic Pruner For Smaller Hands), which is the same pruner made for smaller hands. Frankly, the F-6 was not much of an improvement for me, so I stuck with the F-8. The F-6 has a significantly smaller cutting capacity compared to the F-8, although the difference might not matter for ordinary flower gardening. F-6 specs: Length 7 1/4 inches, Weight 7.5 ounces. Recommended cutting capacity is 0.8 inches. F-8 specs: Length 8 1/4 inches, Weight 8.7 ounces. Recommended cutting capacity is 1.0 inches. Sharpening this type pruner is easy and requires no dissassembly(see Felco's directions/instructions). Use the Corona Clipper AC 8300 Sharpening Tool. And if you don't keep them sharp (and lightly oiled) they will soon dull and rust and be no better than a much less expensive pruner that is dull and rusted. If you don't think you'll maintain the tool maybe get one of these instead: 1. Corona Clipper BP 3180 1-Inch Capacity Bypass Pruner with Vinyl Coated Steel Handles. I've used this compact pruner in the past and they work fine if maintained. If not maintained, they'll dull and rust too, but they're still less than half the price of the Felco. The quality is nothing like the Felco's, but they're cheap, small and light. 2. Corona Clipper 1-Inch Capacity Bypass Pruner With Vinyl Coated Aluminum Handles BP 6250. I haven't seen these, but they look like a Felco knock-off. They might be the best value for the money regardless of brand. In my opinion, while I haven't used them, for the average gardener the Corona Clipper 1-Inch Capacity Bypass Pruner With Vinyl Coated Aluminum Handles BP 6250 is probably the most sensible choice out of all those listed herein (including the Felco's). Corona is a good brand for most homeowners, and their products are widely available at local stores selling gardening supplies. Honestly the Felco is overkill for most home gardeners. Really for pros.

Have used these for three months now. Used them on Maple, Apple, Juniper and Cedar trees as well as various bushes at my home. I'm not meticulous about cleaning them after use and I have no rust or corrosion and I live in the wet and rainy Pacific Northwest. I think maybe I've sprayed them twice with Dupont Teflon Multi-Lube. They seem as sharp as the day I bought them. They are easier to use than my ratchet-type pruner or my anvil-type pruner. Amazon says these will handle 1" branches and I'd have to say that's pretty accurate. I've successfully tackled some bigger stuff but probably should have used my loppers on those. Edit (two years later) -- I've used these for three seasons now. I've never sharpened them. After the first season, I never lubed them again. I don't even clean them anymore. I just do the pruning that I'm gonna do, then toss them back in the box where I keep my small gardening tools. These things rock! As far as I can tell, they work as good today as the day I bought them. They're not as pretty as they were on Day 1, but who cares? All my other small pruning shears have now found their way into the trash bin.

I bought these 2 years ago. They cut like a dream. I’m an avid gardener and use them all the time. I also forget them out in the garden all the time. In fact I left them out for almost a month this winter. When I realized my mistake they were quite rusty on top of being dirty. They still worked just fine though lol so I just cleaned them with a little soap and water and kept on using them for a few more months. Last night I decided to soak them in vinegar overnight. Today I scrubbed off all the rust with steel wool and oiled it up and now my Felcos look and feel brand new! Absolutely amazing. Worth the money. I expect to have these for many years.
