  • Lots of features, feels solid and works great
The Scorp 2 gimball is pretty nice. It's has lots of features to use with your camera. The small display screen makes it easy to switch between modes. Setting it up was easier after I downloaded the app and watched the the setup video. The app also has a few different videos that explain how to use the gimball. The gimball has some good weight to it, it feels sturdy while using it. I enjoyed using this gimball and would recommend it, it's pretty good and easy to use. ... show more

  • Great for beginners
Saw a few videos reviews on the Scorp and thought I give it a try. For a beginner it was pretty simple to set up, just follow the instructions provided and the video they have on the QR code. Very simple to use, has a good weight to it. Battery lasts a long while and feels well made. Come with a perfect case. After using it for a few days I've decided to now upgrade my camera so I can use all the features. ... show more

  • Battery life is horrible
I picked this up as my first gimbal for Christmas and it ended up being a hassle to work with the battery life lasted an hour with my a6400 and a cage with the kit lens would not recommend

  • The Scorp Series is a winner for me ... again!
I am a pro shooter, and I use a bunch of gimbals for different shots. I've been using an original SCORP for probably close to 5-years now, and a Scorp-C for a couple years. When this v2 upgrade came to the flagship SCORP gimbal, I knew it would be good ... but I didn't know how good! The big "wow" is, of course the AI tracker; this is only my second gimbal with an AI tracker, and already I can't imagine how I lived without it. Set it up and it literally becomes your SECOND shooter ... YES, I can make a one man shoot look like a good three operator shoot now thanks to the AI tracking. If you are a pro without an AI tracker, you NEED it! And not so obvious, but still a great upgrade is the abality to quickly switch from standard horizontal shooting to vertical in only a few seconds ... and the controls on the v2 scorp are more intuitive, and at the same time more functional. I don't have a camera that can use Bluetooth to connect to the gimbal controls, so I can't review that feature ... but wired it's as rock solid as I expect from this company :) And last, the scorp has never been light on power ... but this seams to have more powerful motors and better battery life than any of my current DSLR gimbals ... very cool. One tip: If you have not shot with a gimbal with this form-factor before, be SURE to spend some time with it before taking it to a paying shoot ... just like any new accessory! ... show more

  • nice gimbal, but steep learning curve and not much in the way of instructions
Ok, full disclosure, this is my first real gimbal. I've owned a small phone gimbal for a little while, but never a full-sized, professional one that I could use with my mirrorless and DSLR cameras (Fuji X-T5 and X-T4, Canon 5D IV – I did my testing here with the X-T5). So I am approaching this as a user who is essentially brand new to gimbal use, and some of my issues and difficulties may be due to my own ignorance on the subject. I'll be honest that I don't feel entirely ready to review this yet, but a review is owed, so I will provide my immediate thoughts from my initial use, and then possibly update later when I've had more time with it. So the first thing that I'll note is that this feels very solid and professional... up to a point. The gimbal itself has some heft to it (but not so much to make it hard to use), most of it is made out of metal, and it feels quite sturdy. Though you'll notice that I hedged a bit on my initial statement there. That was because the first time I attached my camera, I tightened the attachment screw onto the base plate as tight as I could with the included hex wrench. But after a few minutes of use, the screw had loosened to the point that the camera was swinging around on it freely – I actually ended up with it pointing the opposite direction of what it should be, and spent a very confusing few minutes trying unsuccessfully to readjust the gimbal to have it point the right way before I realized what had happened. I then also discovered that the mounting screws attaching that base plate to the quick release plate had also come loose. I tightened everything back down and it was fine after that, but still, that was pretty concerning – how close did I come to my camera just falling off entirely? I think I'll be looking to see if I can find some alternate, better mounting screws to use. A shame they couldn't find a way to just make this compatible with the arca-swiss plates that I usually have attached to my cameras (which I removed before attaching this) and avoid this other mounting system entirely. Then, there are the instructions... or the lack thereof. The gimbal does come with a thin manual, but I quickly realized that this manual has as many pages as it does only because it contains copies of its instructions in seven different languages. That's great, but it meant that the actual English instructions were only five short pages. Maybe that's plenty for someone who has significant gimbal experience, but it left me feeling like I was on my own to just figure things out. Not where I want to be when learning a whole new way of working. The print in it is also very small, to the point of being a bit difficult to read in parts (particularly the diagrams). Unless you've got perfect vision, you should probably have a magnifying glass at the ready. Seriously, for a piece of equipment this complicated, I expect much better documentation. When you've gone to so much care about everything else (and they really do seem to have put a lot of thought into the design of this gimbal), why get cheap in printing the manual? It does also come with a card with some QR codes, but they all just seem to point to the company's social media accounts, not to actual instructions. Setup was a good bit more complicated than I expected, especially balancing the camera. I'm assuming that it gets a lot easier with experience, but still, don't expect this to be a situation where you can just pull this out of its case and start shooting. I'm sure that those with gimbal experience are saying "well duh..." (I mean, of course the camera needs to be balanced, it makes sense), but as a new user I was honestly expecting it to be a bit more user-friendly. Beyond that, once I got it all set up, I was able to take some video walking around, with some relative level of success. I got some ok video, better than I could even possibly do handheld, but I'd hardly call it smooth or professional looking. I'm certain that's all about the learning curve. Again, though, more explanation of how everything works in the manual would have been much appreciated. As it is, I guess I'll search YouTube and hope that I can find some good instruction there. So... yeah, how to rate this? I'm giving it four stars because it feels solid and seems to work well once it's set up. I've got a long way to go before I'll even be able to take semi-professional video with it, but I acknowledge that a good bit of that is on me. I'm taking away that one star because of the screws that didn't say tight (honestly, I'm tempted to take more off for that, but I'm hoping at this point it was user error – if I continue to have issues with it I may come back here and lower my review further, because this is the safety of my camera we're talking about) and because of the poor user manual. ... show more

  • Awesome gimbal for camera!
I love this gimbal, its bigger than the mini and ready for a mirrorless camera. But not super heavy. I love the fact that this and the mini have the same controls so it makes it really seamless to go ahead and switch from one to the other. As far as weight and balancing is concerned, right out of the box, it balanced very easy and was ready to go in minutes. Even with a zoom lens, the motors handled it great with no vibration or weight shifting. Adding that to the short kickstand it has and this really is an all in 1 package for any type of situation. ... show more

  • Nice one
This is the fifth gimbal I've owned and have watched the features grow and finesse over the years. This latest iteration is a good one. I was very pleased to see all the accessories and functional add-ons that are included. I was primarily concerned with being able to add a monitor and mic, but that is easy with the included ARRI Rosette and the Expandable module which add mounting points and counter weights (included) that some may need. I didn't have success with hooking the Bluetooth to my Canon camera, but the included control cable worked perfectly. I've never seen so many cabling options, and certainly never have seen such a full array included with the kit. The documentation could use a great deal of fleshing out, but for a beginner it is probably just right. There are tons of YouTubes out there so I expect FeiyuTech is depending on the user support to fill in the details. ... show more
