I had to organize an event that needed some (quite a bit of) sewing to be done, so I decided to get a machine to finish it quicker. The main point I was looking for is cheap while useful, since I anticipated to only use it a few times. This product is great for this usage. I was able to finish the projects pretty quickly. Was a great help. Supports many stitching styles. Its positives: the merchant provided many very helpful video tutorials on the product page (I think if you enlarge the picture list, they are in there) which helped get started quickly. I had no absolutely prior experience using sewing machines, so that was a great help--part of the reason I picked this product over the others. The others either came in text and picture manuals, or simply lacked it altogether. I much prefer video manuals as a beginner. ... show more

    • Sews well, but smells!!

I have sewn professionally for over 40 years and had recently retired, but needed a new sewing machine for basic use. This machine works well: easy to use, bright lighted area around needle and light weight to carry. The only downside I have experienced is that it smells plastic like. When using the machine it emits a noxious plastic odor that makes my eyes water and nose sneeze continuously. I hope this goes away after some usage. Anyone else experiencing this on this machine?? ... show more

    • Terrible build quality which is unusual for Feiyue

I own three other sewing machine models from Feiyue and they are excellent machines but this one has serious build quality problems and has to be returned. The stitch selector knob is so difficult to turn that my wife can not turn it. I have very large powerful hands and it is difficult for me to turn it. The machine is extremely loud and rattles badly when running. We own the sister mechanical machine, the Feiyue FYe320 and it runs very quiet and has identical internal parts. So this machine that we were sent has factory inferior internal parts or factory inferior assembly. A third problem that this machine has, when running in straight stitch mode the needle bar will move right to left ever so slightly and not give a completely straight straight stitch. This is totally unacceptable. These problems are not the fault of China Feiyue in the USA, they are the fault of the factory in China where the machines are built. The quality of Feiyue branded sewing machines is usually and mostly extremely high but once in as while a bad one comes through and we got it. So this one is going back. Other complaints that people mention here are user error from improper threading. As a whole this model Feiyue FYe310 is a great machine at it's price point and tops for a mechanical machine. The superb servo motor in Feiyue machines is not used in many other mechanical sewing machines and the chances of any more inferior Feiyue machines like the one we received coming from Amazon is very slim. ... show more

I bought it before the Christmas holiday. I have used it three times before I write any reviews. The part I most like about this machine is the automatic Needle Threader and 24 built-in stitches, so it works for easy sewing for all applications. The USB flash drive with the instruction video is a big help for the user, whether a beginner or an experienced user. By using this Sewing Machine, I feel the purchase is worth the money I spent. ... show more

    • Not bad to start out with
First sewing machine, I was looking for something that could handle some heavier duty sewing; hemming up my son's jeans specifically. This does the job, is able to sew denim with minimal problems. The main issue that I have is with the initial setup of the machine. Having never used a sewing machine previously, I was extremely reliant on the instructions as provided by the company with the machine. After that made everything as clear as mud, I resorted to YouTube to learn how to use it. While this helped...I was still having issues. Everything was fine until I got to the "automatic threader" on the machine. It seems that the hook part that actually threads the needle through the eye doesn't line up. So, after getting extremely frustrated to try and get the needle threaded, I opted to manually thread it and am resigning myself to the fact that I will need to keep doing this moving forward, until I upgrade my machine. Likewise, the instructions aren't very clear when it comes to pulling up the bobbin thread. Otherwise, it seems to do the job quite well. I haven't tried other stitch patterns but for now it is doing what I need it to do. ... show more

I bought a small beginners machine a few months ago, it was not very strong or durable. It has been 30 years or so since I did and machine sewing, but I could tell me and that other machine were not going to get along. I bought this one and it was sturdy, easy to use, and not too terribly large. I highly recommend it so far, if my opinion changes I will update.
