This ladder was useful for getting on the roof. It's really easy to extend and to retract. There is 2 things I did not like. The 1st is yes it is long and seems sturdy, however the extension seems to bend some as you put pressure on it which was concerning. The ladder does seem durable and sturdy but I hope it won't bend with use and become a safety issue. The 2nd is that it is easy to drop the extension by the sliding tabs but it can smash your fingers if you're not careful. Overall I like the ladder and the hooks it comes with, gloves and cover. My home inspector had a similar ladder, and it was perfect for easy transportation and versatility in tight spaces. The attic access in my new house is very cramped, and being able to set this ladder to the exact minimum height needed leaves just enough room for me to fit through the closet access opening. It's also very easy to carry though the house when collapsed, and takes up minimal room for storage. This one even has a cover for storage, although it's a bit of a snug fit at the bottom. A molded plastic handle is incorporated in the lower step, which is perfect for your hand when carrying the unit under your arm. A quick connect strap is fixed in place to keep everything collapsed as well. My biggest complaint is with the lowering procedure. You have to use both thumbs to release latches, and the upper portion comes slamming down uncontrolled. Be very careful that your hands are clear of the impact zone. I can't figure out a way to relase the latches with only one hand so that I can use the other to control the descent of the upper steps. It's particurally violent on the lower steps where most of the weight of the unit is coming down. Also, the visual indication that the latches are set and "locked" is extremely subtle. You're better off listening and feeling that everything is set, than relying on the sight of the latch switches. ... show more

I found this ladder to be a mixed bag. It is a nice size when collapsed, and the bottom edge is thoughtfully curved, so it is easy on your hand when you are lugging it. It is a little tricky to put it up and down. Read the directions and give it a little thought so you don't catch your hands when bringing it down. I don't like the idea of the hooks. I have pitched mine. First of all it wasn't immediately obvious where they went (you need to pry off the caps on top), and then only one would actually lock in place. In fooling around with them the top rung became disengaged on one side. Since they freely rotate I think you would need to be careful that you don't rest your ladder on them as they could rotate on you. My advice is to throw them away. It comes with a nice bag, but why would I want to put my ladder in a bag? I'm tossing that too. Now as to function. I used it to clean pine needles from my gutter in the front of the house. It was easy to position, and pretty easy to extend. On the negative side it is pretty springy. I could see it getting in some kind of resonance if you are not careful. It got my 180 pounds up and down without a problem. As I mentioned before, think about what you are doing when you are putting it down. Watch where you put your hands. It's rather heavy, which is good for stability, and it's light enough to tote around by one person. Clicks are nice and clicky and it stays up sturdy. Tall enough for most needs and folds up small enough to go into a trunk. Like, a cars trunk. Also, has its own storage bag. All in all, really nice!

I love this thing. I'm a 65-year-old woman, and I've had a Little Giant for years, and while I could always manage carrying it around, it was very cumbersome. This telescoping ladder is way easier to haul around. It's more compact and so takes up less room in storage. It's quick to extend, and even quicker to collapse and put away. This thing is great. It’s so lightweight that it seems a little sketchy but it holds my husband up just fine and it’s easy to set up and take down just be careful not to smash your fingers, there’s some gloves that come with it but I’m not sure they would really be any help.
