  • did not meet expectations
I got it to accompany A7s3. It's nice to be able to easily magnify areas of a display with two-finger gesture. Strangely, in spite of meager resolution, display does not fill the entire screen, it leaves a black frame around. Found no way to mark an object to subject it to AF tracking control on screen, which is the most-used function for me, so it was a deal breaker for me. ... show more

  • Bright As Sunlight, Weak Plastic Enclosure
This is a fantastic value for a fairly accurate field monitor, you don't need a hood to be able to clearly see exposure and focus even on a flat log image. The SD-card reader for LUTs is super convenient so it's easy to load LUTs onto the monitor, and the dual-battery capability is nice for when you have long shoot days and don't want to worry about battery life. I'd estimate that a NP-F970 lasts ~3.5 hours on full brightness, but keep in mind that if you load it with two NP-F970's that it'll overload the side mount of the display. The mounts are basically brass threads glued onto one half of the plastic housing, so it's incredibly fragile and after one shoot day, it cracked and I needed to switch to using the other side of the monitor to mount. My suggestion is to either use two lightweight batteries if you're using this on a hand-operated camera, or use multiple mount points to distribute the load. 2xNP-F970's and mounting it the way it suggests in the product photos will result in the side mount cracking. TLDR; It's a fantastic value for a very bright field monitor, it's a no-brainer for anyone who's shooting outside and need something that's lightweight and large. Just be careful to not crack the plastic mounting points by overstressing them. ... show more

  • See What You See
They need 6 stars for Brightness! Can see what I need to see even on a bright day. Touch screen is nice for looking closer or for On-Screen controls I use this monitor on my Canon EOS. The big screen helps to get the focus in and the Focus Assist helps as well. When doing landscape, I can zoom in to get a sharp focus. I bought a 2-pak batteries and charger for it, keep going for a long time. ... show more

  • Good budget option for field use
This is a surprisingly decent little daylight monitor. When you buy something like this for less than three bills, you have to expect some limitations like so-so color fidelity and a clunky interface. Overall, it's been working for me to do framing and basic exposure on a camera or as a directors monitor. Very good brightness, decent features, ability to use LUTs. One main issue is that the power input is too close to the 1/4" mounting point. If you have it mounted on a plate, it will block the external power input. It's also not the most durable of product. It's pretty plasticy so will probably not survive a drop or two. Just keep in mind that this is a budget product so there will be quality control issues. Don't solely judge by those that got bad units. If you get a good one, it works well for what it is. I have two and have been lucky. They've both worked without any issues. ... show more

  • Using with my BMPCC4K
This is a great monitor if you don't have the money for an Atmos. I filmed outside with no clouds in 85 degree weather at noon and was able to see my client clearly. I haven't loaded any LUTS to it because I have a LUT on the BMPCC4K. Battery life with an NP-F970 can last about 5-8 hours. If you put two on then it could easily last 10-15 hours. I don't really like the auto sensor for light but you can still turn up the brightness. It is very light and the only weight will come from the battery. It has two spaces for HDMI's and two battery slots. You can also run power to or from it. I recommend not doing that with the BMPCC4K as others have stated that the variability in the output/input could potentially damage your camera. So I would have one battery to power the monitor and one for the camera. Overall a great starter monitor. ... show more

  • The image quality was way too contrasty (Black Magic Pocket 6K Cam)
On paper it had everything I wanted for an excellent price. If you just want a big screen with more flexibility. It's a solid deal, but it's not very color accurate. It almost looks like there is a contrasty lut on it, but for the life of me I was able to get a flatter look on my screen. So get this screen for the brightness, size and touchsceen, but understand that you'll still need to check you're internal screen every so often if you want a better representation of your actual footage. Oddly enough, the black and white mode on the camera seemed more flat, less contrasty. Don't know why, but interesting. ... show more

  • Best screen ever at that price
I have 2 of these now. I bought one and didn't care very well for it but also used it so much that the screen was all scratched so I decided to buy a second one and keep the original one as a back up. This time I'm doing a better job at storing it in a padded case and after months of use it still looks like new. It's such a wonderful little (but still big enough to pull focus on) monitor and it has so many features that for this price it's basically a no brainer. ... show more
