Why did you pick this product vs others?: A number of years ago I developed plantar fasciitis which keeps recurring, because apparently I'm a thousand years old now. I've been the doctor and gotten all the stretches and shots and custom inserts, and none of it helps, but I dutifully do it because I don't know what else to do. Recently it came back bad and I was hobbling around like some creepy hermit from a Disney movie because of the pain. I hit that "F it, I'll try anything" point. I even looked at those hideous shoes that were made specifically to provide relief. But they were expensive, and I would have to wear a bag over my head so as not to be seen on public wearing such hideous shoes. I don't know why they can't make a decent-looking comfortable shoe, but here we are. I ended up ordering these, figuring they wouldn't work either but I wouldn't be destitute for having spent the little amount they cost, and I can still wear my usual shoes. I slid in the inserts with zero hope, and was stunned when I put my shoes on and began to walk. I could walk completely normally with almost zero pain. And I could do it without dropping tons of money on shoes that are too ugly to have any place in civilized society. Within about a week, my plantar fasciitis completely subsided. Normally that requires weeks of stretching, staying off my feet as much as possible, etc. With these I carried on with my normal activities and didn't do a single stretch. The pain relief was instant and the fix for the problem was very quick without the constant irritation to the plantar fascia. I can't recommend these strongly enough. It boggles my mind to think of all the time I wasted doing stretches that did nothing, and all the money I wasted on expensive doctor visits and orthotics, when I could have just bought these inserts for such a cheap price and gotten immediate pain relief and a much faster recovery. Other than occasional plantar fasciitis I don't have pain or problems with my feet. I can be on them all day in any type of shoe. But I would imagine these inserts would help with general foot pain as well. But for my situation, they were a life-saver!

They were comfortable at first, and seemed to provide the arch support I need. But after barely half a month, for someone as active as me who runs several miles a day, they have lost that comfortability, and I am back to square one of dealing with shin splints and other aches and pains from running and walking so much.

I agree with the other positive reviewers who have plantar fasciitis. A steroid injection from my podiatrist helped for a few months, but the pain came back. Some of my off-the-shelf shoes have fairly adequate support, but for at least three pairs, pulling out the original "orthotic" inserts and putting these in worked wonders. The pain is gone, and I don't have to buy new shoes.
