I purchased this airconditioner over the 4th of July weekend for my mother when I went to go visit her in the Midwest. She has a 2 story home with a loft looking over the down stairs open floor plan living room, kitchen, and dinning room area. Last year her central air and heat went out and due to budget she is not in a hurry to purchase a new system yet. However with me in town visiting I was not able to take all the heat on the lower level of the house so I purchase this. This 14000 btu say it's good for 750sq feet and it is and then some. The unit was able to cool down the lower level of the home and the open upstairs loft with ease. The down stairs area along with the loft alone is a little over 1000sq. feet. I originally had set the temperature to 72 and it was very cold in the all brick home. I had to raise the temp to 75 to 77 due to it was doing the job very well. My mother even ask to raise it a bit due to it was comfortably cold. It will shut off once it reach the desired set temperature which is great. I like also that it is wifi app controlable as well. The unit was easy to put the vent together and all the necessary pieces were all there and easy to install to the window. This model do have the humidifier feature and that's great! One less appliance needed in the home to run and in my mother's home she needs that feature as well especially in the winter when the fire place will be used to keep good moisture in the home. I think the unit is made very well. It came package really well and not to mention it came a day earlier by FedEx so the 3rd party merchant ship it the day of ordering. Order placed on Friday afternoon it arrived Sunday morning. I like to thank the merchant for the fast shipping of the product. Also one more thing that came with the unit which is not mentioned in the details of what's included is a nice padded white cover to place over the unit when not in use or for storing. It's not a cheap cloth it's a decent quality covering. I hope it last I will keep my fellow Prime shoppers posted if something changes. Mom is happy that she is able to now get downstairs in the open with a airconditioner keeping the lower level cool and can hold off a little longer before the big purchase of the downstairs AC and heat unit that went out.

Total lifesaver. I live in Miami where it is very hot and humid. I live in a 100-year-old house and there are two Central AC units, 1 for each floor. But it gets ridiculously expensive running the central air only to cool the room that I am staying in. So I got this portable one to put in the bedroom. Very nice, very nice looking as well. It cools very well, and also has a dehumidifier feature that you can use to help pull humidity out of the air. On low it does not make a lot of noise, depending on what you consider noisy. I like white noise at night and this is perfect. On high it is much louder. There's a sleep mode that you can use that after an hour will drop two degrees cooler and then the next hour it will drop 2° once again to keep you cool as you fall asleep. It really is a must-have and worked great. We shall see how it holds up in the future. One word of advice, the exhaust tube that connects to the plastic shield that slides onto the back of the unit, where that tube connects to the actual plastic part, lots of warm exhaust air blows out of that area which fills the room full of hot air and it takes more time to cool it down. You can take tape or like what I did, a real long sock and I wrapped it and tied it around that area where the exhaust tube goes into that piece and it has made a huge difference. The room gets much colder quicker and stays cold. I could feel the hot air just pushing through there no matter how tight you connect the pieces together. Just a word of advice.

Opening comment: this is the 3rd portable AC I've bought in the past decade. It was delivered promptly as promised and in good shape, but that might be a "luck of the carrier" situation. I'm a strong elderly female with mobility issues, especially with bending and lifting with both arms. After opening the top of the box, the box was easy to slit down the sides starting at two corners to create an "exit" for the AC. After removing some accessories and packing at the top, I could slide the unit out of the box easily, using the handles on the AC. With a pole, I was then able to slip off the bottom packing after a couple of tries. The unit is a good height and reasonable weight that seems evenly distributed, so the process didn't strain my back. The vent tubing fit well and securely into the adapter for the window, and the unit turned on and began cooling as expected. If you are challenged like me about bending low, not only is there a continuous drain port that is half way up the unit, but the unit is a self evaporating system. It can be very humid here during Arizona's monsoon season, so both features help with easy maintenance. So, all that gets rid of the misery of routinely draining from a bottom drain port; it will just be needed at the end of the season. Compared to my other units, this one is a bit taller and lighter with more evenly distributed weight, and that makes for easier moving and maintenance. It was well packaged but not a bear to open, and all the parts fit together well.

This was so easy to place and get started. We used it to just cool our bedroom as our central air just can't keep up. I don't think it is very loud & it's easy to sleep thru. Plus it cools our bedroom very quickly. We have only had a couple of issues. Within the first week the display changed from °F to °C with no directions in the manual on how to change it back. The only other issue we ran into was user error. We did not account for just how much drainage would be produced and ended up with a huge soggy floor the first night. A one gallon bucket for drainage can not keep up with midwest US corn sweat. Switched to a 5 gallon bucket that we emptied twice a day & we were set. Needless to say, it really helped with the massive amounts of humidity.

Bought this unit wanting something that would economically and efficiently cool the hottest room in the house (my bedroom). My Grandson took charge of installing and I learned on my own ( thanks to the handbook) to regularly clean the two filters and locate the drainage valve located at the back bottom portion. Decided to hike the unit up a bit to provide better clearance of water drainage when needed and also better accommodate existing air vents for better circulation. All in all am so far satisfied and still evaluating its performance during summer peak heat. So further reviews will follow. In the meantime my eldest son has moved back home (so happy) and my other old unit in that bedroom needs replacing. That’s how I noticed I failed to write a review on my unit, but in all fairness, a review shouldn’t be done until it’s gone through an adequate timeframe to make a product judgement.

It works well as a fan but not as an AC. When you press the off button it takes a full minute for it to shut off. If you put it on high AC it’s very loud. The other night I finally kept it on low AC. The next morning it looked rainy so I removed the vent part to close the window and there was a strong smell. I unplugged it for safety. It took hours for the body to get cool. Returns are a pain cause you have to mail it back and pay for it yourself. I’m very disappointed. UPDATES: after only a few uses this thing started burning up and now my whole apartment smells of burning plastic chemicals. it CANNOT be safe to breathe in. i really can’t understand how this product has such great reviews. i have never had such a horrible experience before and i urge you not to waste your money. don’t risk it. go to a store. go with a brand you trust.
